• I personally am glad that JJT is no longer covering sports in the DMN.  He was my very least favorite writer.  Also, I am not looking forward to the demise of newspapers.  Since my retirement, one of my most enjoyable activities is reading the newspaper while drinking my morning coffee.  Reading it on the internet is just not the same.

• You are so right.  I cannot log into the DMN to even try to subscribe right now, because of server problems with their site.  The quality has dropped to nothing in the past few years.  They ought to put that poor dog down.

The DMN hasnt really been a competitor for years, when it became the bully pulpit for guys like Steve Blow, I cancelled my subscription...besides, theres better birdcage/cat pan liners out there on the market that are more absorbent and costs less.

• The game isn't about being a writer anymore. It's being a multimedia brand. ESPN lets JJT do that...web,radio,tv.  Ultimately the audience suffers, instead of getting someone who is good at their craft (Be it Radio, TV, or Print) and have honed it, you get folks who are always just looking for a steppingstone to the next medium.  It's not about having a good show or article its about saying or doing something outrageous to gain attention to make the jump.
