Cowboys Practice in San Antonio Finally

*Jason Garrett may be changing the culture but his clock might be a bit off. Today's 10 a.m. walkthrough at The Alamodome started at precisely ... 10:30. Actually, he has an excuse. The NFL Players Association was here to get the players' vote to recertify the union.

*Look for first-round draft pick Tyron Smith to be signed in time for this afternoon's practice. He might be signing as we speak.

*But as for Stephen Bowen, I hear he's talking to the Redskins.

*Even though Tony Romo and Kevin Ogletree wore backward caps, Dez Bryant donned a headband and all players were in shorts, the Cowboys flew around with more intensity today than with pads on under Stumbledoofus Wade Phillips.

*With Andre Gurode hurt (knee) and Kyle Kosier and Doug Free signed but ineligible to practice until next week, your starting offensive line was LT Jeremy Parnell, LG Bill Nagy, C Phil Costa, RG Montrae Holland; RT Sam Young. Yikes.

*Bryant showed no ill effects of last season's ankle injury. He was prancing around the field like an energetic colt in a meadow.

*Signs of rust: Both tight ends Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett dropped passes. Bennett, by the way, says he's boycotting the media all season. Yeah, right.

*Your starting safeties were Barry Church and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.

*No hitting, per se, but Mike Jenkins did have a physical break-up for a pass thrown to Teddy Williams and Terence Newman twice blitzed off the corner.

*And, yes, players jogged and/or ran between drills.

Watching Mayor try to swat away every nut kick from RW is like watching a baby grasshopper that accidentally landed in a fire ant bed (one of those big ass, no fuckin around fire ant beds in East Texas). Its actually quite humorous. So please...carry on Mayor, it'll probably earn you some good butt lovin tonight for being so chivalrous.

I think this website is looking for readers and doesn't care one way or the other about the anonymous cowards who comment here. We are a waste of bandwidth and their time.

Nothing ever changes if we don't bitch and moan. None of us are privy to the website traffic stats, but I'd seriously doubt they've trended upward for this corner of the Observer site, especially with unique visitors. Plus the paper has a whole brand identity to consider. I can't imagine an editor-in-chief being too thrilled with the Sportatorium return on investment.

Hey Ego, where's your harem at today? Are you all meeting on how to ruin "Whitt's End" this week?

I can confirm that at least two letters have been sent to the editor about the lack of quality in this blog - beginning when Richie Whitt became a distant 3rd in afternoon drive.  Will it make a difference?  I highly doubt it.  Will it result in another olive branch?  I doubt it.  It's rather childish to have to do something like that, but the loyal readers of the Dallas Observer do actually deserve better than this.

letters are SG, but I'd damn sure second the motion. Don't know if Merten would accept, but am pretty sure he's available. RW, my friend, you suck.

I'm with you Baseball Cleats. If you do another one, fax/scan it over to me and we'll see if we can't get a healthy number of signatures going to somehow convince this "editor" of theirs.

Hello world!

Richie's overinflated ego

Former New York Yankees pitcher Hideki Irabu was reportedly found dead on Thursday at his home in California, Japanese site asahi.com reports. Suicide is suspected. Irabu played in the big leagues for six years with the Yankees, Texas Rangers and Montreal Expos.

Odds Richie tries to blame Josh Hamilton?

Wow suicide huh? Damn he was pretty young was he not?

It looks like it isn't just the Cowboys who are doing two-a-days this week.

Hard-hitting journalism, Whitt. We all thank you for squeezing that groundbreaking coverage in while you're finishing up your Kinsler/Lewis paternity sit-down.

Hack.

Josh & Elf were playing Madden franchise mode with salary caps turned off, just listing free agents and saying how good they'd be here, while Bob & Dan were raising the point again that Jerry's got a padlock on the checkbook. You'd never get that kind of discussion from The Fail. Given The Ticket realized they didn't need the Cowboys and could provide unbiased coverage without team pressure, and The Fail desperate for any credibility they could get when the rights were out there, I'm starting to believe CBS Radio sold their soul to Jerry and made prostate-massaging official. They'll always spin team coverage positive and in turn the Cowboys will try to pump up the crappy little station that can't, even going so far as to hiring a station spare (who makes even Grubes sound charismatic) as an emcee. And good ole lazy-ass Richie, who only sees the blog as his own self-serving forum and posts here as nothing but show-prep and a hassle, in turn passes on the Cowboy ass-kissing and disproportionate coverage to us.

Barely a mention of the guys cut by the Cowboys, no mention that there's no sign Jerry is particularly willing to spend money he doesn't have to, no mention of baseball trades including Beltran going to the Giants and the Rangers talking with San Diego, just this garbage. Plus he hasn't had the stones to comment in weeks, of course he was only hostile and condescending when he did before anyway.

Doesn't the Observer deserve better than this clown?

I read it, you fucking dickhead. I didn't respond because it was uninteresting shit not worth responding to. Or are you so fucking stupid that you think people must respond to everything they read? What a fucking idiot! Careful what you say next, dicklick. You're approaching a Josh's Shoulder level of idiocy.

Indoor road rage. What a concept. Does your corrections officer ever take off your spit mask if you promise to play nice?

Get outta my comment tree, Sloppy. I noticed you have nothing to say about my post, what's the matter, Mesquite ISD didn't adequately educate you to handle reading paragraphs?

Thanks for the ballcap status update, RW. You're finally writing stuff you're qualified to comment on.

Oh dear god, is this what we're gonna get from Richie Shitt twice a day for the next two weeks?  A recap of walk throughs and probably a recap of the afternoon practice.  Hey RW, how's that expose of Colby and Kins coming?  Haven't heard much from you in regards to it..The little Rangers are the first place team in this market, currently, and methinks you said you were gonna get after this hard hitting story when you returned from your Douchefest in Lost Wages.Hell, give me a story about the effing Stars...about you and "friend" drinking margaritas the same color as your Miata..how many white trucks you saw yesterday...your thoughts on the Alamo being overrated...best texmex picks in the greater SA area..how many rides you aren't able to ride at Fiesta Texas because of your lack of height..POW.

I just noticed in the photo, some of those guys' shorts are the really long kind. Why didn't Richie make note of this important fact?

Exactly what I was thinking. Who is wearing hats on backwards and bandana's---nobody gives two shits---meaningless, pointless filler. As far as that Bennett guy, who cares if he doesnt talk to the media all season? What would there be to talk about anyway---another stupid, corny video he puts up? 3 offensive snaps of playing time on average per game?

TheRealDirtyP1
TheRealDirtyP1

Dude, he's totally doing a Rangers post for blog #3, just....wait...for....it. He can't go two days without talking Rangers in 6+ blog posts and consider himself a sports writer/blogger, can he?They're on a two game losing streak, he'll spin it to where the season hinges on today's game.

"Your starting safeties were Barry Church and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah."

As terrible as that sounds, I refuse to believe that either one of them could be worse than Alan Ball.  In fact, I still maintain that David Buehler would probably make a superior safety to Ball. And there is no way Owusu-Ansah is worse at safety than he is at special teams.
