DeMarcus Ware the MVC: Most Valuable Cowboy

Categories: Dallas Cowboys

More than Tony Romo, Jason Witten and, yes, Mat McBriar, the most valuable Cowboy is DeMarcus Ware.

Drafted 11th overall in '05, the outside linebacker has led Dallas in sacks in all five of his seasons and is the only player in the NFL with at least 10 quarterback traps in each of the last four years. He's a beast. Scary to think where the Cowboys would've been without him.

Even with his dominating pressure on opposing quarterbacks, Dallas has struggled to create turnovers -- one of the reasons Wade Phillips was fired last year -- and has won just a single playoff game.

Still, Ware doesn't have the ultimate respect of his peers, evidenced by him being ranked as the league's 12th overall best player in the NFL Network's Top 100. The network is in the process of releasing its total list, voted on by league players.

Cracking the Top 100 for Dallas: Jay Ratliff (75), Romo (72), Miles Austin (70), Andre Gurode (57) and Witten (36).

If not No. 12, where does Ware think he should be ranked?

"You know, I think I should be the number one guy on the list," Ware said on the network over the weekend. "But at the end of the day, people are going to vote you where they think you should be."

No. 12 is too low, but, um, No. 1 is probably a little high. Hard to fathom Ware not being a Top 10 player isn't it?

RW, how's that sit-down with Ian and Colby going? I thought I remembered something during the Mavs run about you puffing up and saying it was gonna happen shortly after the Mav's season concluded..amiright guys?

With the way RAGE has been bashing the Rangers I don't expect any interviews. We barely get any Rangers content as it is so a sit-down is out of the question.

Even if there wasn't a lockout, I still wouldn't give a crap about football this time of year.

Agreed. I need my football rest before fantasy fb kicks in, college, and NFL, not to mention Lingerie. My wife is cherishing this time of quietness and less sportyness.

Didn't the Musers and Josh & Elf go over this list like 3 weeks ago?

What's the sign of a sportswriter and radio station struggling? Bringing up football in June during a lockout. I'd rather see a Wimbledon story than generic Cowboy prostate-massaging, but the GED set Richie and The Fail desperately want must be satiated.

BTW, Muse in the News with a worthless TC was still better than anything Sybil does.

So its ok for the Musers to talk about football during a lockout, but not Richie?

Also, I bet Sybil gives better head.

Keep Effing that chicken, RW!

I am more surprised that the fans voted him 26th. Actually I'm not.....most fans are idiots. i.e. Derek Jeter leading in all-star votes for AL SS.

Don't forget Allen Iverson and Yao Ming being voted as all-star starters when Iverson was way past his prime and Yao was hurt.
