Are You Ready For Some (College) Football?!

LSU-Oregon.jpg
In 65 days there will be football at Cowboys Stadium. And it will be before a sold-out crowd.

NFL lockout be damned, LSU and Oregon will play in the Cowboys Classic Sept. 3. With 80,000 tickets already sold, standing-room only seats could go on sale as early as next week.

Without the NFL, the 2011 college football season would take on even more meaning.

Fantasy college football?

Marquee games moved to Sundays?

Some dork's blog commencing weekly college football quarterback rankings?

Seems like LSU was just in Arlington for the 2011 Cotton Bowl, but the Tigers' faithful have bought their allotment of 37,000 tickets while the Ducks gobbled up their 15,000.

Last year's TCU-Oregon State game drew only 46,138. Either LSU-Oregon is a far more attractive matchup, or else we're already making alternative football plans for the upcoming season.

On Sept. 3 ESPN's College GameDay will be in Arlington to kick off the season. This weekend at Jerry Jones' house?

Would you believe women's bowling?

Wow your really not sure that LSU - Oregon is way way bigger that TCU - Oregon State.

Exactly why the NFL should play and keep all you uneducated idiotic pro sports fans/writers out of one of the last sports that has true passion.

BTW LSU and Oregon will both be AP top ten if not top 5 teams and this game as most games will have national championship implications for not only both teams but for both the SEC (thats Southeastern Conference) and the Pac-12. Cause unlike the No Fun League eveyweek matters you cant roll to the championship game 8-4 and carry out a trophy thats bigger than the one you lost at the conference level

The national media and TV networks (aka Disney) are trying eveywhich way they can to get a playoff (to control and own) and  adding a bunch of gen pop boobs that understand neither the tradition or regionalism of college football will be a sure way to further their agenda.

Richie, don't forget that the first annual Guns and Hoses Police vs Firefighter football game is to be held July 16th at Cowboys stadium.  You get to see some cops and firefighters bash each other for a good cause.  Guns and Hoses supports police and firefighters that have fallen in the line of duty.

LSU - they go in dumb, come out dumb too.

They can't find jobs in Lousyana so they migrate to Houston and think Dallas is an  entertainment hot spot.

The only folks that will buy what Jerrah is selling these days are the dumb coonasses.

I'm thinking that writing about Lorenzo Charles' life and recent death would have been more interesting than this. I guess your target audience is a younger crowd but even most younger sports fans know about the game where N.C. State defeated the great Phi Slama Jama  with one of the most memorable last second shots in NCAA history.

I read this yesterday on ESPN Dallas. Looks like RW just regurgitated some things and put it as a post.

How was Dukes Big Balls last night?

I'm ready. I look forward more to college football than the NFL. I hope that was a good answer to your question.

This is bad Richie. I'm not even sure what this post is even about. That Oregon and LSU are playing here in 2 months? Yeah, we have known that for a while now. Thanks for the update.

Have you checked our rankings on the educational scale ? We ain't exactly lighting up the smart meter. Hell, I might be wrong but I think the only 2 states we're ahead of are Mississippi and S. Carolina and those ratings were taken before the recent cuts in education.

Agreed, but no local tie-in. He's busy getting the Colby interview set up, I think that's why we're getting half-assed blog posts.

this is going to be a challenging year for the friendly Horns. Challenging in the sense that you hope for an 8-4 record and at least a split of OU/A&M

DeLoss Dodds has already called Dan Beebe into his office, and ordered him to make sure that the whorns go no less than 10-2 this year. Dan replied "yes sir" and gave  DeLoss a foot massage.
