2011 NBA FINALS GAME 5 -- Mavericks 112, Heat 103: My Top 10 Observer-ations

Mavs-Heat Game 5.png
10. So did he or didn't he? Rashard Lewis I mean. Did he or didn't he sleep with LeBron James' girlfriend? Best guess: Maybe.

9. Remember when I said a faster pace would equal better looks for the Mavs on offense? With J.J. Barea joining the series and Jason Kidd pushing the ball instead of walking it up, Dallas' early offense was the difference. Would you believe 13 of 19 3-pointers? That's the 3-point line advantage most of us thought Dallas would exploit.

8. Again with a Mario Chalmers 3-point prayer at the end of the first quarter? And this one was legal. Actually, give the guy credit. He's been great in this series. And both of those shots took -- yes, luck -- but also athleticism and touch. Touche.

7. Texas Tickets, in business forever here in Dallas, claims Game 5 was the second-toughest ticket in town ever behind only Super Bowl XLV. Of course, Cowboys' NFC Championship Games (65,000) and Rangers' World Series games (50,000) had bigger theaters in which to play in.

6. Talked with Mavericks founding father Don Carter before the game. He was positively giddy. Said in '06 he was this close to ordering a championship ring. When I root for the Mavs, I'm also rooting for the classy man in the Stetson.

5. When Dwyane Wade went to the locker room in the second quarter with a bruised hip, I was shocked he didn't need a wheelchair. My sources said he fetched a pacifier, his blanky and a pallet to cushion his fake falldowns. Or perhaps I just made that up because I hate him.

4. And just when you thought Jason Kidd hit the biggest 3-pointer in Mavs history for a 105-100 lead, Jason Terry trumped it with a 27-footer for a 108-101 lead with 33 seconds remaining. AAC has never been louder.

3. In his self-stamped "biggest game of my life," LeBron was outscored in the first quarter by ... Brian Cardinal? James finished with a triple-double...and a loss. LeGone scored two -- that's one basket -- in the fourth quarter.

2. How could you ever root for these two frauds? Are you shittin' me? LeBron and Wade are two fake-ass actors who flop when untouched, and they somehow have the gall to mock Dirk's illness. See for yourself.

1. Pinch me. The Dallas Mavericks are 48 minutes from an NBA championship.

#2 -- Mike Fisher pointed it out; THEY ARE MOCKING THE MAN THEY CANNOT STOP.

Any comparisons between Jordan and Lebron are a laugh.  James doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same paragraph, let alone the same sentence.  Hell, he's not even the most dominant player on their team.  James just flits around like he expects everyone to get the hell out of his way because he's an overhyped media darling P.O.S.  What a hack. And I've had enough of their damn flopping.  I hate Jeff Van Gundy with a fiery passion, but I thought what he said about fining players for overacting had some definite merit.  It's bullshit how a Maverick player can look at them crossways and they'll fall over like they were just hit by a damn car.  Get up and play the game, sissy bitches.

So do you Dallas fans all chip in a quarter each, or did Mark Cuban pay the entire bill for the refs that game?

Poor Heat fans are so used to getting trips to the free throw line every time one of their guys flops after getting within 6 inches of an opposing player, they think the refs are against them when it doesn't happen. Not only do they feel entitled to a championship, now they're entitled to phantom fouls, too.

No, you forget to pay Dwayne's drama school tuition so the flops aren't selling like they once were.

Wade? Lebron? If it is Lebron you should be more worried about me banging your girl.

Remember that guy from Temple of Doom who ripped peoples hearts out? Im am almost convinced that guy is Dirk. In addition, I too like to see the old cowboy on the sidelines smiling.

Revenge is a dish best served with NO HEAT.

Just for the record: a friend of mine posted as his FB status:"Dallas Mavericks 3, Lord Voldemort 2"

Also, I like "Dirk NoQuitSki." That one's a keeper. The Red River thing- that's an ender.

As for a reply to the class-less pair from Orlando: 112-103.

Please, please baby Jesus in your blue manger wearing a little Dirk onesy, give us an absolute blowout in Game 6 where the Mavs are so locked in and so far ahead Lebron and Wade have nothing to do but pout for most of the 4th. Then, when the Mavs are presented the trophy on Miami's home court and the overly tanned, chain-wearing doucher crowd is filing out, have Dirk raise it high above his head and say "I'm better now."

Late in the fourth last night, one of the announcers said, "Wade thought he was fouled there."

I felt like pointing out that if Wade is on the court, he thinks he's being fouled. He'd accuse the refs of fouling him if he happened to run into one on accident.

A lot of college players complain about not getting calls, but some of the superstars in the pro leagues are just as bad. Wow. The refs don't call much in the finals, so if you're gonna take it to the paint, prepare for contact and likely not an "and one".

Fack Wade, Fuck Lebron, you two douchebags, yes those are douchers, not richie, can go eat an NBA dick.  You are seeing what entitlement gets you, the wrath of the basketball gods.  Now go get your fucking shinebox.  oh and Lebron, you are no Jordan, never have been, never will be, you are not even scottie pippen, hell you are not even john paxson or kukoc, you are more like bill fucking wennington.  Cleveland is laughing at you, they are realizing what you are, a fraud.  When I called yall the big 2.5 I thought Bosh was .5, nope its you, and you are more like .25

Methinks this is one of the first times that JET has reminded of his days in Hotlanta.  Shooters got shoot, sharks gotta swim..JET gotta go down the runway.  Also, I think that Wade was acting.  Dude wasn't hurt that bad, he was trying to get LeBron't going and then ease his way back in.I said it last week, and it's come to fruition.  Mavs must win one of the first two in Miami, check.  Mavs must win two in Dallas, check.  Mavs in 7, in one of the most memorable Finals in history. Mavs get one more win, and everyone will remember this Finals.  And LeBron'ts legacy will forever be tarnished.

What a weird series. Up until last night, it felt to me that the Mavs were always THIS close to having been swept. If not for a last second bucket here and there, after grueling comebacks from behind, last night might have been it for us. On the other hand, the Mavs have won three of the last four games, and Dirk just missed his shot at the buzzer in the game they lost. If that ball had gone in, we might very well have won that game, too (momentum at that point was clearly ours). The weird thing is that not only is it THIS close to being 0-4 with a Heat title, its also THIS close to being 4-1 with a Mavs title.

As I said a couple of games ago, this is about the Mavs wanting it more badly than the Heat's belief that they're entitled to it. I do believe last night I saw a glimpse in the eyes of the Heat that maybe this just isn't their year after all. If the Heat are going to win the title, they're going to have to fight, claw, hair-pull, and eye-gouge for it. I don't think they're up for the kind of brutal resistance the Mavs are willing to put up. Dirk knows time isn't on his side, and the Heat know this is only the first of several runs at the championship. Why kill ourselves in bloody hand-to-hand combat against these crazed, desperate psychos-- I believe they are saying to themselves-- when we can probably win next year with a lot fewer teeth marks? The Heat's belief in their entitlement has been broken. They'll play hard, but it's going to take a lot more than that.Mavs in Six, baby.

Said Bosh after Game Six: “They wanted it more than we did.”

Wade: “Their resolve was stronger than ours.”

Funny thing about that video of Wade and James mocking Dirk's being sick...I've always been the kind who won't touch player injury with a 10 ft pole (i.e. you won't find me making fun of Dwyane Wade's hip sprain/ache/whatever it was) because karma's a b.

Guess karma didn't quite appreciate the mocking.

One more Mavs win this series, and the one thing I have in my miserable life -- Richie's even greater misery -- will be taken from me.

Hate, hate, HATE, dwYane!  Great win for the Mavs tonight!  My wish for game 6 is a repeat of Game 4 against the Lakers.  Let's do this!
