Ready for the NBA Playoffs?

At a time when they should peaking, the Mavs are pratfalling. After winning the first three games on their western road trip they lost the last three, capped by Sunday night's lackluster loss to the Portland Trailblazers in which they were never in the game. (Don't be fooled by the 104-96 final score.)

Remember last Thursday's statement game against the Lakers? Since that blowout loss in which the Mavs resorted to cheap-shot bullshit from Jason Terry and Brian Cardinal, Dallas proceeded to lose Saturday night to the lowly Warriors and then last night in Portland.

Not good.

Four games in five nights is tough. So is six in 10, especially for a team that some nights plays like veterans and others just looks old. But the long-term trend is more than troubling:

In its last seven games against Western Conference playoff teams, the Mavericks are 0-7, including two defeats to Portland, their potential first-round playoff opponent.

Dirk Nowitzki was subpar. Tyson Chandler sat out with a sore back. Jason Kidd looked ancient. And Terry -- the jump-shooting poster boy for this team -- went 3 of 15 in telltale losses in L.A. and Portland.

As teams jockey for position for the playoffs the last five games, no one is afraid of Dallas. Truth and the road trip be told, they shouldn't be.

Pianopounder never placed a curse on the team. He was just a disappointed long term fan who wanted to express how much he hated the way the team kept losing, losing, losing.... I know because that is one of my other logins. I'm glad they finally pulled it out. I want to point out that the owner, thank God, stopped acting like a jerk as he did year after year after year. J.E.T. seemed to gain some maturity as well. That's good. I don't have a problem with people playing hard in the paint. That's basketball. I think there are actually 2 or 3 fake kergos, but knowing kergo he is probably one of the fake ones. You can tell when it's the real kergo because you feel my repressed homosexuality more palbably than richie's. What does palpable mean? Pretty sure my ass is feeling palpable after last night.

Fake kergo actually gets far more "likes" than real kergo. Wrote one a couple of week ago that had about 11 likes. No one knew the difference. Real kergo usually manages 2, and it's really just 1 (webb's broken shoulder) if you exclude kergo liking his own comments. It was nice to see our Spurs finally pull their heads out and win a freaking game for the first time in what felt like a month. If George Hill shows up like that every game when the playoffs start, we might actually win a series or two. Otherwise, I smell church.

I'm looking at today, you know me Softy, Spurs homer. I believe OKC has lost 2 in a row, Dallas 3, Lakers only one, Spurs finally got one after 6 losses. If you add up their records of the 1-4 and 5-8, 5-8>1-4 . I'll say 5-8 is streaking, brotha.

Circle that last Lakers game on your calendar as the watershed moment this season. Go back to that first quarter - Mavs actually competed well, were aggressive, and executed on the offensive end. This was a real battle. The second quarter, Mavs dropped off a bit but still hung in there. Then came that pitiful second half; the Lakers pushed and, as usual, the Mavs didn't know how to react. (Quick answer: You push back without fighting or getting kicked out.) Same song, different verse. At least when Butler was healthy, the Mavs had two dudes (along with Chandler) who didn't take **** from anyone. Now? Not so much. Really, it goes back to how this team is constructed. J-Kidd is fine...if Russell Westbrook is your starter. Jet Terry works...if you had a legitimate starting shooting guard. Dirk is good...if you had another superstar riding shotgun with him. (Mavs should have moved heaven and earth to get LeBron or Melo or, heck, even Steve Nash, though Nashy seems to finally be breaking down.) I hope the Mavs read this and perform some kind of internal intervention of themselves. The first step is always recognizing your problem - in this case, getting your head out of your *** and into the games.
When is game 4 of the first round scheduled? That's when I want the Mavs season to be over. Mavs season being over means more Rangers coverage!
Great. The Mavs are done$ that means stop wasting our time with that trash (we know what's gonna happen to 'em in the playoffs anyway) and talk more baseball. The only team more done than the Mavs are my Red Sox. They are done like the bacon I finished off this morning. The only good thing for the Mavericks is that they're not the only ones limping in right now. It's not far fetched to see 2-3 upsets in the first round. The 5-8 teams are fighting for their lives right now. After the Denver game Wednesday, things should get easier for the Mavs. Denver looks like they robbed the Knicks when you look at records after the trade. Those youngins are playing hard and punked the Lakers at Staples(and have won 6 in a row). Don't look now but 5-8 are all streaking and 1-4 are slumping. I'm so ready for baskeball playoffs, love me some baseball but give me playoffs basketball over games 1-100 of 162 in baseball.
