Rangers' Stud Re-Signing With Texas: Not Michael Young, the Other One. Josh Hamilton.

Categories: Texas Rangers

Josh Hamilton - SI.jpg
While the Texas Rangers seem dead-set on trading franchise icon Michael Young, fears about Josh Hamilton leaving were subdued today when the team announced a two-year contract through 2012 with the American League MVP.

The deal, worth $24 million, allows both sides to avoid heading to arbitration next week. This new contract, obviously, doesn't keep Hamilton, 29, and the Rangers from talking long-long-term deals, but gives a little elbow room to the process.

Press conference today at 3 p.m.

The west as I presently see it:

Angels/91-71 (They're back! and no more celebration antics. Big Mike is pissed.)A's/90-72 (That young pitching.)Rangers 85-77 (This is what happens when you rely on CJ and SOME GUYS pitchin')

Red Sox vs. AngelsPhils vs. Whomever (doesn't matter)

Sox over Phils! Youk bats .356. AGon is MVP. Mariners 61-101 (They give up 1 and 1/2 weeks into the season, KF wins CY Young)

If ther's one Effing thing that RW's knows about..it's studs..No? Hambone is a stud, Cruz, Neftali, Andrus and possibly Kins are studs..it isn't 2006 anymore RW, and Mikey is no more of a stud than you are. He is what he is, in terms you may be able to understand Young= late 40's sportswriter with earrings, short man syndrome, and a broken heart that he fills with cheap drink and long drives by Riverchon/Oaklawn..not that there's anything wrong with that.

This is a good deal.....I would have given him 5 for 75, but that's just me. Kodus to Big Tex and Chuck. Now, can we get some pitchin' in here? We need a vet, an innings eater, a teacher.....where's Milli? Also, we may need to keep Mike Young around for when Kinz blows his knee out, Napoli pulls a fatty quad, or when Beltre is batting .230 with 7 homers at the break.

Don't curse Beltre, please Mr Kergo..and I predict a HUGE year for Nap..you're not comparing him to what was HERE last year. Sure if you compare him to Bosox availables, but compared to Treanor or the Frito bandito..I'll take Nap..all day pardner..we damn sure could use Milli..but Effing Boras prob wants a 2 year deal.

Sorry, I reverse the curse, but I'm worried ABelte is going to go 277/13/67 in his non contract year (like he always does).........in Boston they basically ran him out on a rail, then burned the bridge over the Charles, so he couldn't get back over. My problem with Naps is that he has the potential to be "huge". But not like you are thinking, but rather, he's about one 7-11 roller way from being in "eating crisis mode". Heck man, he's giant fat. I say he starts livin' on IR by the end of May and has his normal 270 at bats with 30+ homers, but with 40 rbi's and 200+ strikouts. My cat can hit better than that......and he's a cat! If Nolan were smart he'd run out that dwarf from the 1941 St. Louis Browns instead. Eddie Gaedel?

ps-I missed my first opening game with Rangers in like 20 years last year (missed 3 in like, uhhh 28 years!).....looks like it'll be two in a row.

Dear Yuppies and Frisco House Frau's, The mall is open on opening day. Also, I heard Justin Beaver was playing a free concert at Stonebriar. Ya'll should go! How can I sit in the bleachers drinkin' dat cole bera when I'm sitting next to Biff and Buffy, and they are checking they're Tumbler, Friendster and Facebook accounts, instead of watching the game!

I once went to facebook and JUST thought about setting up an account, and my wrists grew limp, I sprouted breasts and I had a sudden urge to drink wine on a patio. Fruits! What kind of man is on Facebook? Hmmm? Anyhow, leave the sports to us, besides you all have already ruined Cowboys games with designer jeans and fake boobs. And "no" when you see me, I CAN'T "sit down in front", because I'm at a sporting event.Ahhhhhh, we live in a lonely society, void of any manner of thought or reason, where our only goal is to keep age at bay, and make others believe we are superstars.

Glad they were able to avoid arbitration. Even more glad the whip Michael Young story gets bumped for at least a day. It's been giving me tiredhead.

I would like to think MY still stays, no matter his feelings. In addition, the Rangers are smart to give Hambone the two year deal. Keeps them from going to arbitration. Worst thing about arbitration is having to sit across from Josh & say why he isnt worth what he thinks.

it would be easy for him this year. He'd say, "that Mike Young guy is making 16/mil a year. I'm worth at least twice that. I actually give a shit about defense and I'm not a liability out there."

I would argue that MY gives a shit, but just CANT play D for shit.

He's still better than Jeter, not that that is high praise anymore.
