What Do the Mavs Have to Do to Get You Invested?

• Let me put it simply. The Mavericks have just pounded the everloving snot out of the Utah Jazz. At home. That *never* happens. See you at the double-A-C. Nice long homestand coming up.

• @Corby's Former SA resident here as well. Came here in 2000. The Spurs were my fav. team growing up---I was roped in by Alvin Robertson, Willie Anderson, Johnny Dawkins, Cadillac Anderson, Vernon Maxwell... Went to games in that toilet that was Hemisfair Arena. The only semi-good thing about the arena was that it was downtown.

• I love the Mavs and think they will make a deeper run into the playoffs. Unfortunately the refs will find a way to screw them if they come too close to winning a championship just like when they gave Miami that fraud of a championship.

• @ scruffy Yeah I never resort to the "we have rings" arguement, it just shows that the person making that argument has no sports brain whatsoever. I'm not Craig Miller just wish I was cashing his checks. I'm actually a Spurs fan that came from San Antonio and one of the only ones in Dallas who can tell you who Sean Elliott and Vinny Del Negro are.

• I enjoyed the 11 wins seasons, you could sit courtside for nothing every home game, now the cocaine and boobjob escort crowd has those seats.

• The Mavs are for real this year. Dirk is not "Good Dirk", he's "Bad Dirk" and playing more nasty and aggressive on defense than I can ever remember. He'll probably have a new tattoo by the playoffs.

• I'm always on the Mavs wagon, people that bitch about 10 consecutive 50 win seasons with no championships need to be reminded of the years of Cherokee Parks and the patented 11 win season. I always enjoy the ride and Chandler has got to be one of the best free agent additions we've had. And I think we can make a deep run this year. So to echo Jamal: Fuck the haters.

• I thought that Chandler would add an attitude, which is why I was intrigued with how he would play with the Mavs from the beginning. It's one thing to have your tough identity with a guy like Stack or Van Exel even. It's completely another when you have a guy like Chandler roaming around. That is legitimate fear. I always enjoy the Mavs regular season. The frustration ended after the Finals fall out, because it's then I realized that you have to appreciate the ride that lasts for 5 mos. I too hate what the NBA has become. The run the player over / lower your shoulder offense that is run now is outrageous. If an offensive player lowers his shoulder and the defensive guy gets in his way with his hands in a defensive posture, it is not a defensive penalty. If a defensive player is straight up and the offensive player flails into him, it is not a defensive penalty. Scoonie Penn

• I don't understand why people watch the NBA in the first place. The Mavs don't have a superstar that will get whistles from refs in the playoffs, so the Mavs will get the boot from the playoffs as usual. Maybe Dirk needs to sport the blackface on the court so he looks a little more like Wade, Kobe, or Garnett, then he can get 28 free throws a game and we'll have a chance! It's a meh sport and a terrible league.

• @scruffy It's pretty simple, since the Dirk era started, there have been 5 playoffs in which the Mavs met with the Spurs, and the Spurs have the edge 3-2. Personally I'd love a 7 game series between these two right now, because it'd go all 7 games without a doubt. They're 1a and 1b in the southwest in my opinion. Spurs fan here, and I am in no way would bet on a series between these two right now. /Ducks from flying objects.

• @Scruffy...how is 4 rings pathetic in the last 11 years? The Spurs won their last ring after your team couldn't close out the Heat. I feel for you guys, I really do. • I officially hate ESPN Dallas. They keep writing stories about nothing regarding cliff lee. The only time they need to write anything is when the first deal is offered. They seriously have a story right now with a headline "Cliff Lee 'appreciated' Rangers' gesture". I can't take it anymore!
