Sad to See Eric Nadel Not Win ... and Leave

• The Ticket still rules but I regularly tune out Norm. I split time between BaD Radio and RAGE. Richie and Greggo have a good show. I listen to both stations and like parts of both. Greggo is clearly in the HL's head. They take a shot at him regularly. If he (and Richie) were insignificant, they wouldn't even bother. I tune out The Hardline a lot lately. I have tired of drunken frat boy radio and let me plug my cover band talk. But Grubes is genius. Besides Sybil is way hotter than anyone on air at the Ticket.

• who gives a sh$t what the radio station is......as long as EN is the radio voice.

• Major changes happen at the Fan every 3 months. This won't change that.

• @Scotts Merkin No delay unless you are blowing some serious turf like the SFers were doing. Then you get the radio 5 seconds before the play actually happens.

• @ Dollar Dog, How far off is the delay from the live game to Nadel's broadcast?

• Headline says Nadel leaving so I gotta link in. EN not leaving only moving down the dial. Big time relief. It is obvious that Nadel does a lot of off hours homework before each broadcast. I don't watch a game at BP in A without earphones because of the quality/quantity of information streaming in. The dude makes his money by putting in some serious effort.

• Ticket lover ticket hater whatever, its fucking ridiculous. Rooster, you are #1 about being nonticket dick so you STFU too. It has to be a blow to lose the Rangers and their 162 games worth of paid commercials to the station. As for me, I wont miss Nadel, Ill just tune in 103.3 and hear him there. And Im gald the Rangers now get to control the commercial blocks and make money off of them too.

• The ticket sucks, even if the content were good it's hard to hear through the static of a a shitty signal. The ticket sounds like the old boring ass AM station I used to have to listen to in my grandpas car.

• The Ticket is clearly in first place in the sports talk battle, this is the battle for 2nd. And ESPN just took the one sure thing to increase the Fan's exposure (The Rangers) and stole them away. The Rangers play 162 times a year, The Cowboys 16. The FWST is reporting that the Rangers get much more of the ad inventory to sell in this deal. ESPN was probably willing to give that $$ up to help kill the 2 year old Fan in their crib. Richie keeps talking about how the Fan isn't going anywhere- but at some point economics come into play. Even if these people aren't making much, they're paying Jagger, Barsky and Jasmine, Newey, Lewin and Elf, and Richie and Greggo and Sybil. 9 on air hosts, (plus the support staffs needed- board ops, producers, 'ticker' hosts (shared with KRLD-Am, but still need to be paid)) If the Fan's ratings drop in the off-season, and don't go back up (like they went up this year because of baseball exposure) how long will CBS keep paying 9 hosts plus support staff? And if you don't think I'm right do a little experiment- listen to the commercials on KTCK and The Fan. The Ticket has Mercedes and BMW, the Fan has your local tote the note dealer. The Ticket has Mcdonalds, Wendys and other corporate chains (with huge advertising budgets) the Fan has Baby Dolls. And I'm sure Baby Doll's makes a lot of money, and can pay good money to advertise- but can their budget match the kind of clients the Ticket is getting. Richie can tell you they're not going anywhere, but if they don't have ratings success, (and their ratings have started a remarkable drop since baseball ended) they're not going to be there in their present state...

• I think this certainly gives the Fan another year or two, b/c they'll save the money being paid to the Rangers to invest in talent, b/c we all know they need better talent. Since we all hate our day jobs so much and think we would make good Program Directors, here is my take: I don't know who is on mornings w/ Jagger, but UNLISTENABLE. He needs to be entertaining 16-25 year old girls like he did w/ the edge in the 90s. Elf/Josh need something...don't know what it is, but they're not bad, but they're not great. Change their daily routine maybe, I don't know. RW/Greggo need a #1 bad...RW would be a decent yuk monkey, neither is a lead dog. As for ESPN, they SUCK w/ the Mavs game stuff. in game is fine, pre/post SUCKS. To hear the Mavs will take priority over Rangers broadcasts scares me when you factor in the newfound potential of baseball in October!!! Surely playoff baseball would override early season Mavs games, right?

• @ MMM Flush against what ? There was not one shot that hit Fin in his head. He may have connected with a shoulder pad, but that was it. Fin was never phased one bit.

• I predict that all of the same homos will be sitting around predicting The Fan failing and how badly they hate Richie, but then battling to see who can comment first. Bunch o freaking tards...

• I would like to point out that Finnigan never threw one punch against Andre Johnson, and Johnson, while swinging wildly, never cleanly connected with Finnigan ... The Fan will be here for a while to come if they have already lasted this long. There is some quality programming after 2 pm. Im not sure why people around here like to wish failure upon others. What does the success or failure of the FAN have to do with you ? Afterall, look how long ESPN has lasted.

• Still decent odds CBS realizes this market can't support 3 sports stations and rolling with a hispanic music station will triple the ratings and be much cheaper to run. ESPN is perfectly willing to take a loss to have their brand on radio and The Ticket steamrolls in ratings. Hope Jagger speaks Spanish. Even Twin Peaks and Avery Air won't pay more than a couple bucks for ads on a station with .2 listeners per watt. So you won't cover the team any less than barely, outside of about 9 weeks in the fall when everyone realized the Cowboys sucked and the Rangers were the story? Do us all a favor and stop using the Observer as your personal page-o-spin.

• Ben & Skin are the clear cut winners of this move. they can now do pre & post for baseball & basketball. their job security just doubled. with the sudden increase in rangers listenership, espn radio seized an opportunity to capitalize. expect an even greater bump in their show #s next yr. looks as though cbs is in money saving mode and this does not bode well for the on air hosts. not sure it'll flip by sundown, but a format flip is inevitable. in the interim, based on weekly #s, expect more changes before rangers spring training. oh the humanity! mm

• Gotta say I'm sad about the Rangers leaving the Fan. 103.3 has the worst coverage of the three sports stations, and we'll apparently get early and late season Rangers games steamrolled by basketball.

• Good luck RW, hopefully the spinning wheel of radio death doesn't stop on you this quarter. Once they get rid of Jagger in the mornings, I'll be really interested in seeing the ratings and who will fill that spot.
