And what a ride it was ...

10. After an ~~generous~~ incorrect no-call on a check swing, Michael Young blasts a three-run homer to center field on the next pitch as Texas races to a 5-0 lead in Game 2 of the ALDS en route to a 2-0 series lead in Tampa Bay.

9. Presidents Bush and Dubya Bush drive to the pitcher's mound and throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Game 4 of the World Series. Don't care what your politics are, that was a goose-bump moment.

8. Shoving a raucous sellout into delirium, Colby Lewis strikes out the side - including Derek Jeter - against the Yankees in the 8th inning of ALCS Game 6 to protect a 6-1 lead and set the stage for a 9th-inning party in Arlington.

7. Yanking a 3-2 deficit into a two-run lead, catcher Bengie Molina smacks a three-run homer down Yankee Stadium's left-field line as the Rangers snatch control of Game 4 on their way to a 3-1 series lead in the ALCS.

6. Aggressively and perfectly executing a rare double-steal, Elvis Andrus races home and slides in safely in the 1st inning of ALCS Game 2 to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead and immediately erase the ugly memories of a Game 1 bullpen meltdown the night before.

5. After Mitch Moreland's gritty at-bat produced a three-run homer three innings earlier, Josh Hamilton homers to right in the 5th inning of World Series Game 3 to push the Rangers to a commanding 4-0 lead.

4. Capping a masterful performance in ALCS Game 3 in The Bronx, Cliff Lee punctuates a 13-strikeout, two-hit night by fanning Jorge Posada and Brett Gardner in the 8th inning of an eventual 8-0 Rangers' win.

3. Darren O'Day gets the Giants' Buster Posey to ground out with a runner on to end the 8th inning of World Series Game 3, sending Texas into the 9th with a 4-2 lead that stood up for the franchise's first - and only - World Series win.

2. Ian Kinsler hits a two-run homer to left in the 9th inning, giving Texas a 5-1 lead in decisive Game 5 against the Tampa Bay Rays and securing the Rangers' first ever playoff series victory.

1. Neftali Feliz strikes out Alex Rodriguez looking to end Game 6 of the ALCS and propel the Rangers into their first World Series and set off an on-field celebration amidst confetti and champagne.

Number one could very well be Nolan Ryan way back when he pitched for the Rangers in the old ballpark..........probably saved the franchise from being moved and allowed them to go to the World Series this year. Nevertheless, all of the bad and sorry things that have happened to the Rangers have finally been done away with.
as official progenitor of the "food and travel" section of the Spoti, I declare the 7-11 1/8lb. hot dog the winner! The box makes it funtional, the product is fresh and full of ample juices, and the garnish bar doesn't look like a tornado hit it. The service is always good at the corner Sev, and if I ever need a sample, they are eager to provide. How to dress said hot dog: -apply jalepenos and mustard -gently apply that delicious cheese sauce -if your a mans man, have some of that chili on top ps-there is ample room for additional jalapenos on both sides of the hot dog...it won't get soggy, cause you are going to eat it so fast. The winner in the dumpage/bathroom department is Allsups. Anyone ever try Rudy's BBQ? Holy H, I had some at the river last year, and man o' war, talk about stuff that stays in your stomach for two days, and then evacuates like Frechman at a bathing convention.
That Nolan fist-pump is my laptop wallpaper. I'd buy it as actual wallpaper for my house, if only Home Depot and the Rangers could work out a deal.
Meh. They got to the World Series but went out looking like the Rangers of old that we have been used to for decades. Going out without a fight is very disappointing.
I agree w/ Gordon Keiths Beard... That is the most animated we have ever seen Nolan as a spectator. An always stoic guy, even when he had a no-no he walked off the mound w/ a big smile & shook the catchers hand.
Buc-ee's is greatness.....seems to be really clean. Dear Chikenpants, Allsups is always a realiable place to do that.
Don't you think #5 (Josh Hamilton's nice but ultimately superfluous homerun) should be replaced with Mitch Cuzz Moreland's explosive game-winning three run shot? That won the Rangers their only World Series game, at home no less, and the look of Nolan jumping up and pumping his first was priceless. Moreland hit .462 for the series and won their only game. Seems like that accomplishment should place.
Hot dog list that doesn't include 7-Eleven ? You sir are out of line.
The best corny dog's outside of the state fair are the one's at my son's elementary school cafeteria. Especially when they sell the leftovers the next day and they're sitting under the heat lamp. And the cafeteria ladies (Velma, Sue, and Fran)are so hot in their hair nets and yellow rubber gloves that have brown stains on them from last Friday's chili main course.
If you have the unfortunate need to drive to "Lubbick", Allsup's is the best place to take your business, if you know what I mean.
Buc-ee's is the best I've seen. Too bad they're not in North Texas.
Yup Meat, they have damn good burritos! Either be close to the terlit (like Archie Bunker) or wear an adult diaper. I had one when I was hiking in Palo Duro Canyon, and man o man, it would NOT have been hard to find me. Allsups also has great, cheap coffee. My mornings out west are always filled with atleast 5 of them tall boys. I prefer the cup with the map on it. Dear Scotts Merkin, The Kerg's family had a summer place close to Concord, and man, come October, you were in heaven! The trip down east (Maine) is freakin' incredible. Our place was on Crystal Lake in Gilmanton Iron Works, and that place is great place to get lost. Back when I had some scrilla (pre double dip recession), I'd be so gone for weeks with the family, the boat, the Bud Lite, the Bob Dylan and a book.....oh yeah, and the fishing road, the 4 wheeler and mountains.
Any gas station hot dog list that doesn't include the 7-Eleven Big Bite is a BS list...
Allsups has at least one place in Decatur. It's better known for its fried burritos. Having grown up in that hell hole of Decatur, I can say, with experience, that if you eat one of those burritos, you damn well better be close to a toilet.
Hey Kergs, I was going ot go wiht 7-11 #1 but I had to nbut kick Richie once today. No allsups here but once you get to Abiline they are there, and they would be the #1 Burrito, thats leads to a massive #2 by the time you hit sweetwater. Visited the Ozarks as a child, we'd drive from KC to Branson and down into the Ozarks it was so much fun but I always thought there were way to many old fogeys down there. Foliage is beautiful, though not quite as nice as driving from New Haven north to Hartford, the to Northhampton, swing over to Boston then head north again to Concord and finish by back road driving to Augusta Maine. Gorgeous.
I COMPLETELY agree with Jamal. The Benji moment was the ultimate EFF you we dont care about the Yankees moment. It should be number 2! The moment I saw them intentionally walk Benji, I thought 'he already has two solid hits'. There isnt much better than seeing your home team player intentionally walked to, and he MURDERS it. That hit opened the flood gates against the Yankees. It is probably my favorite all time Ranger moment.

Wow, Mr. Merkin, nice list! I don't see 7-11 or Allsups. Do we even have Allsups around here? I always see them as I head out west. Last year, an Allsups outside Amarillo was selling x-mas trees for $10.00. I was going to get one, but, I couldn't fit it on the roof with the kayak. BTW, I strongly recommend going to the Ozarks to see some beautiful (spoken gleefully like Scott) foliage. Just go straight up HW75 until in turns into HW69, your basically in the Ozarks when you cross the Arkansas River.

Perfect, a perfect list Richie. I like it, and I like that you included #9, that was my sentiment the whole time, regardless of politcal views seeing a father and son both of whom where presidents rolling out at the World Series for a first pitch for a team the family once owned was very goose bumpy, bet you it was moreso in person. Will we be getting a bottom 10 moments too, that might get more comments.
Ok, now that we know I'm #1.......we need a list for this? Why don't we rate who makes the best chicken parm in the area? Or, who has the best gas station hot dogs? Which my wife has forbid me to eat, pleading that when I'm not looking, that guy scratches his nuts and then touches the hot dogs. With that lovely vision in my head (knowing that the reality of this is pretty great), I have refrained from such hot dog eating.
