The Top 10 Worst Quarterbacks in the History of Your Dallas Cowboys

In his first NFL action in almost two years, Jon Kitna immediately served notice of one thing Monday night at Cowboys Stadium:

When starting quarterback Tony Romo went down with a broken collar bone, the Cowboys' season swirled down the toilet with him.

Kitna's stats don't look awful: 16 of 33 for 187 yards and two touchdowns in the 41-35 loss to the New York Giants. But look closer and see that - when it was still a game - he was absolutely harmless.

On his first six drives after Romo exited in the second quarter, Kitna failed to produce a first down. While he was going 5 of 10 for only 25 yards, the Cowboys saw a 13-point lead hideously morph into an 18-point deficit.

Kitna helped his cause with two too-little-too-late touchdowns to Dez Bryant, but he amassed 162 of his 187 passing yards after the game had eroded into fourth-quarter garbage time.

The Cowboys have always had catastrophic quarterback moments against the Giants.

Hall of Famer Troy Aikman threw a career-high five interceptions in New Jersey in 2000. In '01 backup Clint Stoerner topped that by tossing four picks in the second half of a loss to the Giants. In '86 Danny White broke his wrist against New York, sending his 6-2 team into a spiral that ended 7-9 and out of the playoffs. And in '06 Drew Bledsoe threw a late first-half interception against New York, effectively ending his NFL career and getting him replaced by a guy named Tony Romo.

We'll get some calls and yelps for Stephen McGee this week and why not? At 1-5 and with Romo out at least six weeks, this season is deader than A-Rod's aura. Kitna was bad, but not nearly the worst in Cowboys' history ...

8. Reggie Collier

Former Michigan star was harmless in short Dallas gig, throwing only one TD and one interception

6. Kevin Sweeney
'87 scab hero faltered in '88 with 42-percent completions, five interceptions and 40.2 rating

5. Anthony Wright
'00 cameo littered with no TDs, three interceptions and a 31.7 rating

Tony Banks didn't get beat out in camp by Quincy Carter...he was cut on the second day of camp in Oxnard. I was there and nobody knew what was going on until John Clayton told us. I think he had a clash with some players (like Emmitt) while he was trying to settle into Dallas.
Babe Laufenberg was smart enough, at the end of this career, to get off the football field and look for another career. Actually, he came back to life in a pretty good way as a talking sports head. I wonder how little ole Eddie LeBaron would do against the monster huge players we have today.
Wrong Richie. Drew Henson had a 55% completion percentage and a QB rating of 62. Steve Walsh had a 50% completion % and a 60 qb rating.
@Marty B: In fact, I did extensive research on this one. Look at the stats and QB ratings. Just because you remembered a name from the past doesn't mean he sucked. No way Steve Walsh was worse in Dallas than these guys. In 9 games he had 5 tds, 9 ints and in '89 started the Cowboys' only win of the year. You were saying something about homework? @em: Quincy Carter on this list? You're kidding, right? Last time I checked he took the Cowboys to a playoff game. And in 10 games in Dallas Chad Hutchinson threw 7 tds 8 ints with a rating in the 60s. Was he good? No. Did he suck? Yes. But again, no way he was worse than the dudes on my list. Sorry.
You didn't do much homework on this RW. You also forgot an obvious one in Steve Walsh. My goodness, what has happened to you? You even forgot Mike Quinn for crying out loud. Awful.
People who say Quincy Carter should be on that list... he really wasn't THAT bad. He just wasn't that good either.

Danny and Dirty: there are not a lot of young guys on the roster to play. Almost the entire 2009 draft class is gone from the team. As opposed to what successful teams do the GM does not turn over the roster to constantly ferret out talent. He declares that we are contenders and that only a few roster spots are up for competition. Gee, I wonder how there might be complacency on the team????
I agree with Rob and Danny. Play the young guys and cut the guys that aren't performing. It will send a message, that the rest of the guys have 8 games left to make a paycheck since there might not be a season next year.
Not just McGee - every young player on the team should get in-game time. Much dead wood to be cut here. Need to find out who wants to play not just who is gettin paid to play.
If my Quincy Carter recollections weren't terrifying enough, I just remembered Chad Hutchinson. Speaking of quarterbacks, Jon Kitna should not play while Tony Romo is injured. Why play mediocre football? Bring in Stephen McGee. Might as well find out if he can play or if he belongs on Richie's list.
I hated Steve "He looks poised" Pelluer. As bad as he was, he tried to hold out once for more money. The first think he said when he returned with no more money was that his god was an awesome god. WTF? Stuff it holy roller.
Quincy was the first person that came to mind Rob. I'm with you on this one.
I didn't see Quincy Carter on the list. It's amazing that there have been ten quarterbacks worse than him.

I got hurt on purpose. I wanted our team to have an excuse for a dismal season, when in all honesty our team sucks ass. I don't really care that much though...I'm still famous, I still get to collect my paycheck, and I get to go home and bang Candice. Suckers!!!
