Hell Mary! Who's to Blame for One of the Most Discombulated Plays in the History of the Dallas Cowboys?

Lots of blame to go around for Redskins 13, Cowboys 7.

As he tends to do, offensive coordinator Jason Garrett got too cute. Felix Jones touches the ball only 10 times. In the Red Zone the Cowboys try a halfback pass with Marion Barber. On special teams David Buehler misses what should have been a very makeable field goal. And, of course, there's Alex Barron.

But to me this was always going to be an ugly, defensive game with points at a premium. Giving away a touchdown at the end of the first half was a product of a combined comedy of errors you won't see on a Class 2A field anywhere in Texas on any Friday night.

Yes, it was that stupid. But who, I ask you, gets fitted for the biggest dunce cap?

Trailing only 3-0 and with the ball at their own 37 with four seconds remaining in the half, conventional wisdown - much less hindsight - says take a knee and go to the locker room.

Allow the mistakes to commence:

JASON GARRETT - What are the odds of Tony Romo throwing the ball 65 yards in the air? Even if he does it, what are the odds of his Hail Mary/jump ball/clusterfuck ending up in a touchdown. It's the end of the half, so it's all or nothing. With a great defense and a patchwork offensive line and a low-scoring game, the reward wasn't worth the risk. It would be like a baseball team locked in a pitcher's duel trying to steal home with the pitcher going from the stretch.

WADE PHILLIPS - I don't want to hear him second-guess the call, because he - as the friggin' head coach - has the authority (even the mandate) to censor the play before it unfolds.

TONY ROMO - One of his strengths again shows up as his greatest weakness. The ad-libbing talent of the quarterback short-circuited his common sense on the play. As soon as he felt pressure and was forced to scramble, he should've killed the play. Fall down. Throw it out of bounds. Anything but a silly, wild-ass pitch to Tashard Choice. I know Romo makes more positives than negatives when he keeps plays alive, but - what? - Choice was going take a pitch and run 65 yards for a score?

TASHARD CHOICE - If he doesn't fumble, all the above are off the hook and I think we're talking about an ugly win and the 1-0 Cowboys today. Ultimately, he gets the most blame.

The blame is 100% on JASON GARRETT's shoulders. To even suggest otherwise demonstrates either a complete lack of understanding of the game of football, or a hidden agenda with an axe to grind. That said, Phillips says he's going to start interjecting more often as far as the offensive play-calling goes. Let's hope he's not shitting us. I trust Phillips a LOT more than Garrett at this point.

Seeing Ware make a head down tackle and jack his neck up is symptomatic of lack of discipline, to include lack of emotion, penalties, piss-poor execution, etc., etc., for the ENTIRE team. It's why we have so many choices (no pun) to spread blame. Ultimately discipline and the performance of this team falls on the head coach: Phillips gets the hat.

Dallas scored 7 points. Other than the 49ers, that was the worst offensive performance this week. The Dallas defense gave up 6 points on offense (the Redskins' touchdown came against the offense). That means Dallas had one of the best defensive performances of the week. I'm absolutely tired of people defending Jason Garrett and people trying to say that Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett deserve equal blame, even on the one play in question in this article. Wade's defense is preventing touchdowns. Jason's offense is running the wild hog up the middle to Tashard Choice, rolling Marion Barber out on the option, and committing game-changing turnovers and penalties. If the opinion media in this town really want the Cowboys to succeed, then they need to make it clear to Jerry Jones that Garrett has to go.

You blame: #1 Jerra, for being Hicks like in not resigning Flo and trading your #2,3 receiver. #2 RHG, cmon dude WTF was that play to end the half? #3 Romo, if he doesn't win em, dang near by himself, then we don't go very far.
Jerrah needs to change his position to "Stadjum Renter Outer." Promote Steven to GM, and if Wade or Garrett do anymore bonehead stuff, if Steven doesn't fire them on the spot, then fire Steven, Wade, AND Garrett. Replace them with people who are accountable and firable. Then fire them when they don't produce. This is how the marketplace works - without nepotism, and without Narcissism. It will never work here, under Jerry. He tried it with Bill, he tried it with Jimmy. Couldn't hack it.
How about Jerry? It's his team, "jocks to socks." He makes all of the decisions in regards to the Cowboys. Just ask him. When are you going to start holding one of the worst GMs in the NFL responsible?

I blame Suzanne from last night's Star-Telegram Cowboys chat. That [wo]man was an absolute beating. At one point, the dumb bitch thought "Jerry Jones" in the chat was the real Jerry Jones. She had to ask what RHG meant. Damn she was a smelly cunt just like Bob Bland. She said she "knows" football because she used to coach it. Bitch ass slut.
