Hey Rangers Fans, Cheer Up!

• Yeah, you paid, you're allowed to boo. Here's a fan primer: Boo a player who loafs, has taken steroids, committed acts of violence, made racist statments, etc. Boo the ump. Not the pitcher, who works the hardest, and has undesirable results. As others have said, it exposes us as simpletons, like the picture in SI of Josh Hamilton swinging the bat, with inattentive fans sitting in the first few rows. As our team emerges into a contender, so should our fans contend with sophistocation.

• Cantu has Tommy Lee Jones face... he doesn't need to come off the bench except in the case of an emergency...

• At my (own) anus. Ok, that's weird. Anyways, you're right anus. The fans chose to be at the game. They also chose to boo. Some of them did. So what? Maybe it wasn't what Colby Lewis wanted, but he's a grown man and can deal with it. He wins in October and the fans will giving him standing O's and ask him to come out for curtain calls. On to your second point. You are right regarding Oakland. 2nd in team ERA and a great observation taht if they had an offense they'd be in 1st. I concur, but what sucks is when their offense does show up, it's against the Rangers. Our pitchers don't have the excuses like our hitters do against their pitching. Yes, they are 2nd in team ERA. But they are near the bottom in runs scored.

• I'll agree with that Scott. And I meant to add on the last part that you were correct in saying that it wasnt near as hot compared to the week before, which is definitely true. That 107 degree shit with the heat index even higher was the real deal! But yes, the people that buy tickets to a Ranger game in July and August should realize that it's not going to be too comfortable in the sun and that the game program and empty peanut bag is NOT going to cool you off any.

• Dude, two things: 1. The fans chose to be at the game. They knew it would be hot. Once things were out of hand, they could have left instead of staying in the heat. 2. I wish people would realize just how good these Oakland pitchers are. Yesterday they should consider themselves lucky to have even gotten 2 runs. If Oakland had any kind of offense the Rangers would be on their way to another 2nd place finish in the division.

• Yeah, I forgot, I sat in a bar and watched the game while doing my fantasy football draft so I didnt realize it was that hot. Anyhow, if you are going to go sit in the heat, dont boo the pitcher because you made the choice to sit in the heat.

• Fans that do the wave at critical times late in the game. We're not asking you to keep score manually, people. But refrain from making the entire region look idiotic on TV with a wave better suited to 1990s multipurpose round stajiums. Such is life as a baseball fan in football town.

• Are u kidding Merkin?? It was 97 degrees yesterday with a heat index of 104. That's not hot? Ask any fan that was there yesterday sitting in the sun and ask them. Watch game footage and see all the fans fanning themselves throughout the game!! Usually you have a good argument Merkin, but you flat out lost this one right off the bat.

• Booing Cliff Lee & Colby Lewis? More evidence we have some of the worst fans in sport in the metroplex. Remember, these are fans that still do the freaking wave. Enough said.

• This month of baseball has been about as interesting as this month of pre season football. The good thing is all that changes come September, Football starts to mean something and the Rangers had better be playing better baseball. We should have a good idea if the football team is any good and if the baseball team will make any october noise by the end of next month. I say eff Colby for being a panzy an bitching about the booing fans, and eff the booing fans too. Nut up and take it. And it was not a scorching hot august afternoon Russell, (If you compare to the weekend before) so the fans shouldnt bitch about the heat. If you dont like the heat stay on your couch

• No Rob M., but I do believe Dollar Dog has made some great, valid points. Kelly has a good memory as well not forgetting Kinsler and him whining about attendance back then when the Strangers were mediocre at best. Maybe Kinsler should shut up and see if he can stay healthy for more than 2 weeks at at time. And Colby needs to grow a pair. If he were (a Yankee) in the Bronx and said what he did about the fans, he'd have already been thrown off the Brooklyn Bridge by now.

• Rangers fans are frustrated because the mid season acquisitions other than Lee seemed to be a Big Lots clearance isle spending spree on castoffs that everyone else was done with. Yesterday was further proof of that with Cantu and Cora going 0 fer 7, and Molina grounding into his daily double play where the relay to first could have been sent parcel post and still arrived on time. BTW, why was Molina catching for a struggling Lee Thursday night when Treanor is the catcher that seemed to work the best with him? What is the answer to MYoung's 19th error and counting? I thought all of the great farm team depth would have solved at least some of these issues. Lots of issues to be cheering up much. I'll wait until this team gets Kinsler and Cruz firing again.

• Well, writers make a big deal and players moan (Kinsler, I'm looking at you, doofus), if the ballpark isnt nearly full when the team is playing well. Now, we have to listen to the same thing when they show up and a section of them express their displeasure, even if they might be missing the big picture as it pertains to the playoffs and our standing in the division? Isnt it a good sign that Ranger fans are showing up and even caring enough to boo at this time of the year? RW, sounds like you are missing the big picture, as well, good sir.

• FOR THE LAST TIME-NO BOOING! You people make us all look like AAA freaks when you boo for nothing. We finally got rid of "let's go" insert name (Tigers, Redsox, Yankee's, etc.)....it would different if it were a covnentional year and we were buried in the division and 35 games. And sure I used to heckle Don Zimmer and say he looked like Porky Pig, but, those teams sucked, with the exception being Sunny and the great Al Oliver.

• Should the fans have cheered? Anyway I think Cliff Lee had a quote after his performance saying he deserved to be booed. If that's true then Colby sounds like a pansy. He had a terrible outing, what does he expect?

• Should the fans have booed? Nope. But Colby did leave some pitches out there for batting practice. It happens. Overall, he's been a great re-find for the team though, undeserving of that send-off. Is Colby still in a Japanese-league mindset where those fans act very differently? Perhaps. Hopefully he'll get mad and silence some people in Minnesota for his next start. While the Rangers have been firmly "meh" this month, we all knew that this month wasn't particularly easy, opponent- and temperature-wise. Puttering out at .500 doesn't look great during it, but is really not missing the goal. They played meh, Oakland and Anaheim played sub-meh. Virtually no ground lost. All while having Highland Park Hair and Boomstick sitting in the dugout. While Cliff Lee was more Cliff Claven. While Vlad was doing a Pedro Serrano-hitting-a-curveball impression. While Michael was doing a Roger Dorn impression in the field. If they play like crap next weekend with Nellie and Kins back and after that off day where the pitchers are supposed to get more rest, then I'll be worried. I'd rather they get this type of play out of their system now if it means being on fire in a month.

• I can see why Colby would be frustrated with the fans. And I also can't argue with your notion regarding the Cowboys night before debacle carry-over effect. But let me add something if I may. I things on top of the things mentioned, the fans were frustrated because they had to endure brutal heat for those 8 innings and also realized that the Rangers lost another series. And the game was 8-2 by then and people were upset at paying good money only to see them play terribly. I think Lewis was in reality just the scapegoat the fans were using to boo for OVERALL frustration and not just for his individual performance yesterday. And people will come back and say the fans still shouldnt boo since we have a 7.5 game lead and are headed to playoffs, etc. Yes, but at the same time we don't want to see the team limping into the playoffs combined with a losing record in August so far (12-14).
