In last month's NBA Draft, 60 players found new homes. In tonight's made-for-TV special, one player will announce his new team.

It's official: LeBron James is bigger than the NBA. Are you amped about The Decision?

You can actually bet on whether or not King James will put on a crown tonight.

Though Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is joking that he'll attend tonight's one-hour variety show on ESPN at 8, the odds of James announcing that he'll play for the Mavs (I'm calculating their chances at .0001%) are about on par with a Tiger Woods-Elin Nordegren reconciliation.

I can't decide whether I admire LeBron for milking his moment, or hate him for acting as though he's won a ring or seven.

Either way, I'll be watching tonight. You?

I thought it was pretty entertaining, not to mention pretty courageous for him to sit there and explain himself. Funny how he's being criticized for not sneaking away under the cover of darkness. It's definitely good for the NBA. It will be fun to see if anybody can beat them in the East next season.
Why didn't cuban atleast sit down with lebron and make a pitch? i guess he was too busy signing the big german who will never win anything for the mavericks.
I don't give two sh$ts and a shimmy about this guy or the NBA....but what a pompous ass! A special to tell us he's going to Miami? He's in A-rod's league now with the soulless, machine like void of self appreciation. As a Celts fan, I saw the quitting; I saw the void of passion in this guy's game.
I'm now pulling for Lebron failure & even injury. I hope he crashes & burns in Miami. This whole thing has been disgusted. The fact that ESPN gave him an hour not too mention the live interviews afterward is disgusting. I'm so glad the owner of the Cavs came out & ripped this guy. He called him out for what he really is.....a quitter

Why can't the NBA be the way it used to be. These pathetic, arrogant, thug athletes, parade around, saying how hard a decision it is for them on free agency. Oh pity me, I have to decide whether to take $20 million a year in New York, or $20 million in Chicago. This is the toughest decision of my life. What about a person making minimum wage trying to support a family. And to think that ESPN glorifies this arrogance, and scum. Pathetic!!

Interesting business article that says LeBron may pick Miami in large part because he'll lose more of his salary to high taxes if he plays in NYC. http://www.businessandmedia.org/articles/2010/20100708120415.aspx This convinces me now that he will play for Miami.
This all about LeBron's posse getting paid and telling a gullible NBA star what is best for him. He's not very smart if he's heeding this kind of advice. That ESPN is hosting it and then trying to print credible stories that scoop the rest of the media on the potential decision is about as low as a journalist can get. Not sure what to make of ESPN's LeBron to Miami hype... either they're manufacturing drama so that people will still tune to hear he will stay in Cleveland, or he really go somewhere else. I'd love to see LeBron throw a curveball and sign with the Nets. Going to Miami and being part of a three amigos-type star lineup doesn't seem to fit in with his King James, one-hour ESPN special ego. I'm thinking since he's having this so close to NYC, he'll end up with the Knicks.
Hell no. It is bad enough that they have devoted an entire hour to a decision that was already made, but surrendering their advertising compounded it. Yeah, I will be among those wishing fail on whatever team has signed him up.

The fact that ESPN bent over and willingly presented its fartbox for this douchebag's PR team to ream away on for an hour is sad, depressing, and indicative of whether sports media drives the game or vice versa. In any event, it'll be nice to have an additional rooting interest next season, as I'll lustily cheer against whatever team James deigns to grace his talent with (hint: it rhymes with the Biami Beat).
Agreed, agreed, agreed. This is deplorable. ESPN and their glorification of anything scummy, slimy, illegal, whatever. This networ is turning into utter filth. If it's not celebrating gangster thug life, it's promoting this arrogant, self-promoting ass-clown in Lebron James and others like him. Stuart Scott is the most pathetic, talent-less, over the top, egotistical, sorriest, lazy-eyed sports anchor I've ever had the displeasure of listening to. I'd watch some of the crappy reality shows my wife is fond of before I'd even entertain tuning in to ESPN. This is utterly ridiculous and it gives me one more reason to detest ESPN (other than the douchey SportCenter anchors, the irritating guy that announces SportCenter sponsors, and ESPN's insistence on having Chris Berman commentate during ANY golf tournament). To me, ESPN is absolutely useless outside of college football season. Even then, it's just so-so.
Less than zero chance I'll tune in for this. Overall, this entire exercise has a very "Chris Chris" quality to it. I suppose this proves that even an exceedingly talented athlete can be a doucher. Another thought -- if he announces anything other than that he is staying in Cleveland, he will go from beloved to hated in an instant. At least Art Modell had the decency to slink out of Cleveland with the Browns in the dark of night.
