Keeping the Faith: Lakers in 7

The Boston Celtics have the lead.

But the Los Angeles Lakers have the advantage.

Right?

Boston needs just win one - tonight in Game 6 or in a Game 7 Thursday night - to clinch its record 18th NBA Championship. They won't get it.

As I said before the series, Lakers in 7.

How's that you ask?

Because Kobe Bryant is good enough to win one game by himself. And, at some point, Andrew Bynum (knee willing) is going to outplay Kendrick Perkins, Ron Artest is going to make a positive play, the Staples Center crowd will remove its sunglasses and actually cheer and, oh yeah, Kobe.

My crystal basketball says the Lakers win in a relative rout tonight, setting up some must-see TV Thursday night.

Perkins being out changes the whole dynamic of the Celtics. They can win, no doubt, but just at a bigger disadvantage. Perkins may not have scored alot but he gave Bynum problems and in game 7 he wouldn't have to worry about his final technical allowing him to really open up.
Dear Sunny, Thank you! Avoid Scott and Dr.G...and that guy that corrects your spelling. Other than that, it's OK. Kind of boring this time of year while RW picks topics out of his butt. Celtics are done, I ADMIT it. Lakers beat them by 15 in game 7.

Looks like I wil be right which I knew I would. Boston has been too inconsistent all year and their record after the all-star break was right around .500 or a game or 3 below. They're just not trustworthy enough, whereas the Lakers being at home with the best player in the league, are. That being said, this has got to be one of the most boring, lackluster NBA playoffs I have ever witnessed. It's become downright boring, and I found myself watching a segment of Joy Behar over the Finals. Sad (I know), but true.
you said Lakers in 6, sports genius... 3. Two years ago the Celtics beat the Lakers in six. But Boston is older and the Lakers are better. L.A. in 6.
Well Kergo, I sure hope you didnt bet the house/trailer on Boston last night. Seems that cities teams just cant close the deal this year.

The way the refs call the game will dictate how the Finals go. Reason 12 why the NBA sucks.
I'm not sure Kobe can win a game all by himself - against this team, in this scenario. Obviously, he's amazing, but he scored 38 last game and they were beat rather handily, when it was clear he was playing by himself for all intents and purposes. How many points will he have to score to "win by himself"?
Dear Denizen's of the Hinderland's (Mesquite, HEB, Garland and every other marginal city close to being part of Oklahoma): ALWAYS, always bet on Boston! On that note, I went to Texoma last week to take the kids swimming and I've never seen so many smoking, bikini wearing chubsters in my life! Except for that time I went to Travertine Creek and saw that swamp elephant smoking in a pristine waterfall. What says I'm enjoying myself more than smoking a ciggy in a spring fed waterfall? And her husband was close by with no shirt on, a 24 ouncer of cheap bera and jeans on. Jeans mind you, not jorts-jeans! And he was swimming. All 85 pounds of him with tat's and snot and all. Try Burns Run if you need entertainment....or try swinging by Fobb Bottom. I once had to extinguish a tree that had been set on fire. Am I giving away all of Oklahoma's hidden treasures?
I'm usually not in agreeance with Whitt, but I have to concur with him here. I know this is sounds really simplistic, but the bottom line is I (and you) cannot count out Kobe Bryant and Phil Jacskson---especially at home. Lakers will win both.

Kobe couldn't be stopped in the last game. Bynum's knee deteriorates more with each game. Artest is just a mess. All the Lakers have to be tired of getting berated throughout the past 2 games by Kobe, as they did in '08... and the Celts rolled them in game 6.
