Chris Arnold: Ya Nevuh Know

I've only been in radio for 16 months, but there's one word that keeps flowing from my lips when people ask me how I like the industry:

Volatile.

Seems every ~~week~~ day there's a lineup shuffle or personnel switcheroo at some Dallas station. Over the weekend was no different, as legendary broadcaster Chris Arnold was let go by K104.

Not to make him feel too old, but I sorta grew up with CA since he arrived here in 1980.

I remember him as reporter for Channel 8. As the sports voice on K104. As the on-court emcee at Dallas Mavericks games. As the host of the biggest, baddest birthday bashes in town. And, yes, as one of the first hosts at 1310 AM The Ticket.

During his show - which ran from '95-99 - he started with Prince's 17 Days, came up with memorable phrases like "Movie watching is a sport", "Everyone loves lists" and "You never know." And, of course, Arnold's original sidekick was none other than Corby Davidson.

In recent years K104's morning show has shed itself of Skip Murphy, Nanette Lee, Sam Putney and now Arnold. Chris is one of the happiest dudes on this planet. Never seems to be down in the dumps.

I have no doubt he'll land on his feet.

And in this business, that's a required skill.

Chris and are truly the only reason I continued to listen to K104. I believe that they made a huge mistake by letting them go. I had listened to the morning team for years when they let Skip, Nanette, and the wig go. I really have no desire to listen at all now. I hope to hear the original "Morning Team" again soon somewhere.

after corby stabbed arnold in the back, he was then forced to sometimes appear on BAD Radio. who can forget when corby called the hotline on BAD Radio as Evil Kneivel? rhyner, who wasn't dead at that time, suddenly started packaging corby as "the most abrasive and over-the-top" personality instead of "friendly little corby" as he was known then. snake will never die, because the grey wolf loves him. so deal with it, bitches!

Funny that people that actually work for that damn station don't even listen to it. The Courage Boys have been talking about uniforms, what to wear to games, etc. long before you and Newey joined Young Country. You ever looked up the word narcissist in the dictionary? Just remember, they can do what you do but, you can't do what they do....

Chris will be missed dearly Chris Arnold and Sam Putney was the only reason I listened to K104fm in the morning. Chris was the only one left from the old k104fm with Nannette Lee and Skip Murphy. Guess 105.7 will have my total loyalty now.
Barbecue is a sport I thought Corby and Chris had good chemistry on the air. Here's hoping he finds another gig soon.
My favorite CA memory. Snake hung up on a caller and Chris told him, on the air, to never do that again. Stay hard Chris!
RW you need to change the description of the Sportatorium from "the official sport blog" to "the official sport talk radio blog"...the two highest commented on articles on here this week are about the ticket and espn radio..it's crazy man..course most of the comments are from crazy kergo/scott's merkin/rooster/newy's swinging dingaling..Rooster is verrrry cagey for an old.

I always liked Chris Arnold. I don't think he ever offended anybody, seemed to be a truly nice dude in a cutthroat biz. He and Corby really did mix well together back in the day, whereas Corby as part of the Hardline has always felt a bit forced. Can we have a Soul Train reunion?!? For just one day, let's get the band back together at the Little Ticket: 5:30-9:00: Musers and Gordo 9:00-11:00: The Chris Arnold Show w/Corby 11:00-2:00: The Hardline w/Rhynes and Greggo 2:00-4:00: Cooperstein and Folliwell 4:00-7:00: Reunion Roundtable (hosted by Norm) 7:00-10:00: The Bob Sturm Show (with special guest Dan McDowell) 10:00-midnight: The Bohemian Rant (nap during the day, Gordo)
I remember Chris Arnold's Ticket show very fondly and think it'd be very smart for a local sports station to give him a gig. Corby was best I think as "the producer of this show" and worked really well with Chris.
He's a good dude who should land someplace.
The only reason I never gave "bag-a-chips" a really good chance was because I could never stand Corby. That dolphin laugh still drives me nuts! Im like that police lieutenant on the Pink Panther movies! Everytime I here Corby's laugh or voice, my eye starts twitching!!
Yeah p1 lem...but I actually liked Hardline and Musers right off! It was funny how the anchor stars really failed miserably. Bayless was good on KLIF, but somewhere along the line, after coming to Ticket, he got his lips surgically implanted up Jerry Joke's butt! Im not so sure Jones did'nt buy him off...and Cooperstein, although highly respected, just was'nt good!
I agree Chris was there right when the truely little Ticket was beginning its golden years. He will be missed and I hope he lands soon at a station around here somewhere. 1 day has passed and I see a lineup change coming to the Fan or ESPN.
I used to love Chris's show, he came in when the littlest of tickets was getting it's sealegs..Out with the douchiest guy in DFW sports Skip Useless and Menefee left for NY,NY and in with the Musers in the morning..and Chris 10-12 and moved the Hardline to the afternoon..and after they cut ties with Rocco.. the Ticket as we all know it was good to go..goooo ticket strong goods ..for those day oners like myself, the first year or so of the Ticket, as Greggo might say, like Sean Salisbury wasn't all that great..new and different, but not the NY Yankees of the DFW sports radio land.

Rooster is right - he took Menefee's place. He was one of the first replacements on the Ticket. Corby was his producer... Corbett was not on-air much. Corby became afternoon yuck-monkey when Chris left 1310.
He was a first host at the Ticket? I thought he took Curt Menefee's place?

When I first discivered the ticket 12 years ago it was The Chris Arnold Show that first hooked me and reeled me in. Loved it and was sad to see it go. It's really funny to hear the occasional and very subtle CA reference from time to time now on the station. Maybe they can let Norm go and give Chris his old slot back.
I think he sealed his fate after having a show with Corby! That can never be good!
