Lone Star Park: And They're Off!
The crack of the bat. Allergies. Longer days. Bluebonnets. And, ah yes, the trumpet.

Spring has definitely sprung.
Tonight in Grand Prairie Lone Star Park kicks off another horse racing season with its $50,000 Premiere Stakes. The 6:30 post time will officially begin the track's 65-date season which will run through July 26 18.
I won't necessarily make time for the Kentucky Derby or Breeder's Cup, but I will make a trek or two out to Lone Star Park each Spring. Go up to Silks for a fancy schmancy buffet. Get down and dirty with the wise guys as the horses make their entrance. Either way, the feel of "down the stretch they come" with a $10 exacta box in your hand can produce an adrenalin rush like no other in sports.
And if that doesn't do it for you, $5 admission and concerts this weekend by Randy Rogers (Friday) and The Beach Boys Blake Shelton (Saturday) ought to do the trick.
