In the race for second place - and the challenge of closing the gap on monster 1310 AM The Ticket's gigantic ratings lead - 103.3 FM ESPN is the latest sports talk radio station to re-organize and shuffle its lineup.

Months after ridding itself of big-name hosts like Dale Hansen, Greg Williams and Michael Irvin, ESPN, third in the most recent PPM ratings behind The Ticket and 105.3 The Fan, is flip-flopping Colin Cowherd and Ben & Skin in an attempt to inject an earlier local influence into its programming day. Cowherd will now be heard daily Noon-2 p.m., while B&S move to 9 a.m.-Noon.

5 a.m.-9 a.m. Mike and Mike

9 a.m.- Noon Ben & Skin

Noon - 2 p.m. Colin Cowherd

2 p.m.-3 p.m. Chuck Cooperstein and Nate Newton

3 p.m.-6 p.m. Randy Galloway & Co.

Musical chairs at Young Country and ESPN Radio just make me giggle. When is management at those damn stations going to realize they can't stop The Ticket. I'm counting down the days until the radio anthrax Ben & skin are out at the last sport station in the area. It will be a good day when they are gone and Skin is no longer screwing up the chemistry of Followill and Ortegel during Mavs home games.

M&M and GAC are the two best that nobody listens to. The Two best are the Musers and Norm.
Since Chris Arnold is out at K104... Why not dump Cowherd altogether and run the Coop and Chris show from 12-3 with Newt as their yuck monkey? It'd be all that AND a bag of weed.
Mike and Mike and GAC are the two best sports shows in DFW.
Hmm, could this be? Perhaps a "last supper" for ESPN 103.3? Though Ben & Skin would give me an alternative to listening to Norm. Sure they'll last about 3 months in that spot.
I gotta agree with the clay cooley comment. I could watch his Spanish infomercials all day long. Mmmmm, half naked chicas... aaarrrrlll...

Let's see, Coop, Ben &Skin and soon to be joined by Bascik (hopefully) What do they have in common.....THEY SUCK! Coop is the most arrogant turd in the history of DFW broadcasting (sorry Dale) and Ben and Skin have now tried out virtually every outlet on the dial and all they have to show for it is complete and utter failure. Bascik is a typical baseball player. Stupid as the day is long. Do you really think he'd have gotten in the door if Ticket management (and Bob and Dan) weren't jock sniffers? I feel sorry for the guys at 1310 who went to school, got a degree and can string together a coherent sentence and now have to listen to this dumbass pollute the airwaves.
Anticorb, The clay cooley reference is genius.....the only thing worse is clay cooley commercials on the spanish stations. What can I say, I don't speak a lick of spanish, but, who needs words when you see those chicas. Heck, I can barely speak English, but not bad for a 74 year old!
All ESPN or the FAN need is to bring in the Ender. They will then jump The Ticket overnight..
@cactusflinthead I really don't know how well they do in other markets. All I know if you want to be an ESPN radio affiliate and want to carry their brand, you have to carry Mike and Mike. It sucks, but with ESPN its not about ratings but overall domination.
@Jedi54 ESPN really needs to rethink the idea that Mike and Mike appeal to ALL of America. Of the three options in the morning they don't even register on my radar. They are all about the East Coast. There is no chance in hell that they are going to mention anything about Dallas or Houston or anywhere else in flyover country unless there is some big story they can't ignore. I wonder how M&M fare in other markets compared to the local talkers. Hmmm.
I would listen to nonstop smoke monster and Chewbascik..would be a more entertaining/educational version of Newy and RW..
@anticorb - I have to disagree. "LOST Talk" gave birth to The Smoke Monster, and I love me some Smoke Monster. Also, I have to listen to the Corbels' segs just so I can yell at him for constantly referencing Sam Bradford and Adrian Petersen, even though they have no relationship to his topic. I agree that Bacsick has a greater role to play somewhere, but we can't put him with Rhyner. The only thing keeping the world safe from Evil is having Mike think that NO ONE but him gives a stinking damn about the sorry little red-shoed Rangers.
I think kergo sobbered up! Nothing is a bigger tune-out than Bob & Dan's "Lost" or "24" talk. Of course that does not include Corby segments! [I tune outta those quicker than a Clay Cooley infomercial]
@TheGhostofGeorgeBest KESN can't get rid of Mike and Mike...103.3 is an owned and operated station of ESPN Radio. So they only way Mike and Mike goes away if ESPN sells 103.3. Thats not going to happen anytime soon. Plus for any station to say they are part of the ESPN radio network, they HAVE TO carry Mike and Mike in the Morning.

The crew of the RMS Titanic had about as much success when they rearranged the deck chairs. Though I have to admit as somebody who is beaten down by Norm, Ben and Skin offer me a lukewarm alternative.
Golden Days were the days of the Subculture... Chicken Fried in Euless, T-Bar, The great RO et al... Road Shows (remotes) at Main Street BBQ and Yegua Creek, and Diamond talk at Bobby Valentines'. and 11-2 buddy, it's all about options and packaging and distancing.

Have to agree with the Newt comment. The giant sports brain of Coop just waits to explode once he leaves the dope runners presence. Pair Coop with someone that can keep up with him and put him on for 3 hours against Bob and Dan and you may have something. Hey FAN for the last time, get rid of the annoying constant mention of FAN texts. The only thing more annoying is listening to people call in with opinions.

The smartest thing that the FAN can do is wait for the Ticket to go to commercial, then go live. 95% of the time I switch to the fan is when the Ticket is on commercial, and they are ALWAYS at break too...Don't even know what the afternoon drive guys sound like.
Dear Brad, Bacsick sucks! In fact, pairing him with Norm from 10-12 is perfect, that way I can get some work done and not listen ALL day. 103.3 is still on the air? That sh%t is unlisteable. They need to put Chet Ford on the air. Also, the only thing worse than Bob and Dan talking hockey is when they talk about tv shows.

I've listened to the Ticket since '94 but I do enough station-jumping to form the following opinions: 1) Newt is just as unlistenable as Irvin was; why waste Coop's time? 2) ESPN still has a gaping hole between B&S and Galloway; 3) The Fan is obviously trying to appeal to transplants from the Northeast, thus making them mostly unlistenable to the natives here; 4) and sorry, this is not the Golden Age of Sports Radio in D/FW - that brief moment is long gone. It existed when Gordo was poorer and freelancing on Friday nights, before Folly-well sold his soul to the Mavs, when Bob & Dan were brand-spanking new, and when Norm first came over as a refugee from KLIF. Oh yeah, and when the Musers and the (original) Hardline were true Monsters of the Airwaves. Heck, I even miss Rocco Pendola and the old Fox Sports radio on AM. I'm old.

meh, wake me up when there is a Greggo update...I did listen to the fan yesterday for about 3 1/2 hours...cause they had the Rangers on...that is all, please stay tuned for the daily p1 bashing by Rooster in 5,4,3,2,1..huge, quickly
ESPN needs to get rid of Mike and Mike in the morning, 5am-9am listeners want to hear local sports news about the Rangers, Mavs or Cowboys. No one wants to hear those two d-bags talk about Yankees/Red Sox all morning when its opening day for the Rangers. Syndicated talk shows from ESPN in the morning will never work in Dallas/Ft Worth. Same goes for the 105.3. Get rid of that Gaybo Jagger
Round and Round the merry-go-round goes. But until they can create a niche that makes their stations unique they will always trail the once Little Ticket. Also I do not think Greg Williams qualifies as a big name host anymore. A big name joke maybe, but host no.
Dangit, I was just getting used to flipping over to Ben and Skin everytime Bob and Dan started talking about hockey. Now they are going against the Musers and Norm... uhhh, that's a tough one, pal.
