With Your Dallas Cowboys, How High is High Enough?

Wade Phillips is back. Miles Austin will be (fingers crossed) back. The Dallas Cowboys will enter the 2010 season with momentum, eight Pro Bowl players and high expectations.

But how high?

This year they won a division title and their first playoff game in 13 years. Next year ...

Where is the bar set?

A) NFC East Championship.

B) NFC Championship Game.

C) Super Bowl.

D) Super Bowl champions.

Look at next year's schedule. If the Cows finish 9-7 and get a wild card berth I'd be surprised. If they get in the playoffs they will be dangerous. But getting there will be tough.

One thing at a time. The cowboys need to focus on the offseason and getting the missing pieces through a solid draft and smart FA moves. The offseason is called the second season for a reason.
The bar is set at C but I think D is a real possibility. They will fix the very few things that misfired this year and be much better for it.
The bar should be set at least at the NFC Championship with real probabilities (see Minnesota this year) of making it. Won't happen. '10 will be crash and burn. Cowboys will be lucky to be 8-8. Wade can't keep it up. Maybe he needs football viagra.
As much as we'd all like to see them win the Super Bowl, we have to be realistic..unless you're name is scott. This team is good enough to get to the Super Bowl. Winning it is a different story. I don't think they'd beat the Colts. Peyton is just too good. Ask this again when camp breaks later in the summer after teams make personnel moves and whatnot.
High Dallas Cowboys? Mike Irvin? Terry Glen? Mark Tuinei? Big Nate?
For me, it's D. For most fans, C will probably do. But B will let Wade keep his gig.
If Cowboy fans really think about it they have little to no chance at actually making the Super Bowl. Since the Super Bowl has gone to neutral sites, no host city has had the home team play in the game. Good luck Cowboys

All things being equal, I'd say C....but too many variables play into a season. Injuries, suspensions and the like. The local heroes had tremendous luck this year on the injury front. If I know that no game 1 starters are going to go on injured reserve or face league suspension then C is the bottom of the barrel as far as next year goes.
