The bad news ...
Tom Hicks is determined to remain majority owner.
Sorry, Rangers fans. So, very very sorry.

And there goes any optimism I had for next season...
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 8:39AMThe good news is I don't have to start driving back out to Arlington anytime soon. I refuse to support Mr. Hicks. Sadly this attitude from myself and most fans only hurts the team I love. Oh well.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 9:21AMHicks needs to either get in or get out. The Rangers cant have an impending ownership change looming over its head going into next season.
I can live with Hicks keeping the team as long as he doesnt run it on a shoe string budget.
Whoever ends up owning this thing needs to realize the Rangers are a big market team and damn well better be run as such.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 9:23AMWhy do the other MLB owners allow this bumbling fool who can't pay his bills to remain in baseball, yet they shut out an owner who we all know has plenty of money and could do plenty of good for baseball, Mark Cuban. As rhyner would say, I hate this son of a bitch
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 9:26AMWell that's just Prime. I feel Mike's point of view because I feel the same way about Jerry Jones. I wonder who will be the most hated owner in 10 years when neither have won a championship yet neither will relinquish team control.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 9:38AMHow can MLB allow this to happen? They have the guy on the hook and should be able to force him to get out. Having Staubach and Nolan in the mix is reason to get excited, but if Hicks is still the top guy it is just a tease.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 10:12AMWelcome to our world. Liverpool feels your pain.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 10:23AM@The Brit,
Actually we welcome you to our world as we have dealt with him far longer than 2 or 3 years he has taken to ruin your squad. You are not alone
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 10:29AMLaughable to hear 'pool fans try to compare their misery. Yes, he's screwed y'all, but he's been screwing us much longer.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 10:51AMFor once hopefully Bud Selig will do the right thing and won't let this happen. We want Greenberg!

There, I feel better. Not much, but a little. The upside is that it doesn't matter until Washington is back working as a 3rd base coach where he belongs, anyway.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 11:48AMThere's no way in hell MLB allows this to happen.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 11:57AMThe Rangers keep saying that the ownership situation won't affect their off-season moves. Yet as of last night it appears that they can't afford to keep Marlon Byrd, whose preference is to stay here. Yeah, continuing to have Hicks at the top of the command chain is gonna work out great.
BTW, if his financial situation improves, will he be more likely to (a) upgrade the Rangers' payroll or (b) buy a cricket team? (Yes, that was a rhetorical question.)
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 12:40PMWhile I hate Hicks as much as anyone, I for one am glad to see Byrd go. Like the guy but he is what he is, a fourth-fifth outfielder, just like Matthews.
And I agree with Meat, MLB will never allow his bid to be approved.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 2:00PM-Hick's making comments to the Ranger fans that he won't spend the money on fielding a decent team, until the fans come out to the park.
-Not selling his share of a soccer club to a Dubai investor. Hicks, swallow your pride doucher. Trying to outlast Gillete in the club.
-Pitiful offers to free agent's. "We tried"
Hicks, sell the F'n team. You're just trying to ride out this fiscal down turn in order to sell anything for a profit/even. You're probably leveraged to the hilt. Suck it up.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 2:00PMI'm with Meat also, Hick's is trying to make everyone he has the upperhand in this...what I've heard is the MLB is going to decide which offer to take..so Mr. Hicks please keep sending money down to Austin but get your damn hands off the Rangers..if he somehow maintains control we fans have a number of things to look forward to: trading Millwood imemdiately, and not to far down the road Hambone and Kinsler will be shown the door..Young too if he didn't make so much cashola.. One day I may have to become a freaking Yanks fan..when they have our 1b/2b/ss/cf...puts head on desk and sobs..
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 2:17PMSomebody just fucking shoot me.
Oh well, I guess I'll save a lot of money not going out to his ballpark.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 3:54PMIs there anything funnier than someone who goes by "Toby Harrah's Taint?"
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 5:26PMIs there anything funnier than someone who goes by "Toby Harrah's Taint?"
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 5:27PMSturms Rectum -
The whole problem is EXACTLY that the Rangers are over-leveraged. Hicks has to sell because he is defaulting on loans, but the team has been leveraged to the point that no one wants to buy the team because of the amount of debt attached to it.
He will not spend money on the field, much less fielding a team. I am still keeping my faith in Nolan Ryan and his judgment. I hope he did the same thing to Jon Daniels that he did to Robin Ventura for the Chris Young trade.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 6:19PMI suppose I have to face the grim fact that he is going to be the owner for the foreseeable future. MLB doesn't give shit if the team that is fielded is worth a damn and all Hicks cares about is making another buck off of other people's money. This does not instill in me a sense of confidence for next year. Even when pitchers and catchers report out there in the desert these nagging facts will be back there in my baseball brain squelching any hopes that spring might bring.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 7:00PMThe degree of Liverpool fans' misery is enough to match the longevity of ours. They care far, far more than we do, so while we've tightened the leash on our disapproval of Hicks over the past few years, Liverpool fans much prefer to handle him with a choke collar.
gary had a point.....
Tom Hicks punk ass kid never started a riot by walking into a Dallas bar. The same can't be said for the last time he walked into a Liverpool pub.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 19 2009 @ 10:40PMRanger fans don's seem to care..They cheered when A-Rod and Pudge left..They embrased Rusty Greer who drew a check for not playing..
They deserve this owner..Loser fans get loser teams..
LMAO
