How I Spent My Saturday: Piggin' Out on Food and Fightin'

• Anyone else get dinged by City of Dallas parking? Parked in a lot at 4:30 to make it to AAC when doors opened, and come back to find out that the lot does it's hours from 5pm to 5am - meaning that I paid for about 30 minutes of parking.

• Damn...I need one of those knives!

• I was at UFC 103 and am a regular UFC viewer(more haphazard fan than loyalist). My thoughts: 1. Worst card ever. Seriously fight night this past week from OKC was better. 2. Fights were flat out not good. 4 fighters missed weight...seriously, how does that work. One guy missed by 4 pounds. 3. UFC no TV in suite requirement. OK, so here is my biggest complaint. I was lucky to be in a suite. One would think this would be great (not having to associate with the huddled, Affliction wearing masses, park underneath the AAC, etc.) BUT factor in the UFC requirement that no TV�s were permitted to be on in the suites. You have got to be f'ing kidding me. UT/Tech was on, and I would never have gone to UFC had the option of also catching the game not been available. Yes, I am spoiled and bitching about something that shouldn't matter, but with fights as bad as these that ended as quickly as these, why the heck can't I watch the game in a suite I paid for the use of, including the TV inside. Otherwise, it was an interesting spectacle (attendees not the fights). Fight of the night was 2 guys on the stairs. I will never attend another one live, but will continue watching PPV for good cards.

• My initial reaction was that the fights weren't spectacular, and they weren't, but all of the main card fights did go to a finish, and it's hard to argue with the refs calls at any point. Maybe Kampmann, but he was a goner in the next 1-2 punches anyways. Definitely a good enough card, and I think UFC was impressed enough by the sellout to want to come back sometime in the next year.

• Vacation?! Dammit! You have more time off than the damn Congress! Yeah I heard Sturm's review today. It was almost apologetic. Two 'roid heads pass each other in aisle, bump, mofos are exchanged before punches. Sounds nifty. Y'all have fun.

• Everything's stupid. My favorite sports involve lead pipes and marathons and sprints and airplanes.

• Definitely the pretty people packed the place Saturday night. Felt like a typical, trendy Dallas club with a fight breaking out every 10 minutes. But I give up two thumbs up. The fights weren't very good, but the spectacle was enjoyable. More to come ...

• Unfortunately, that's what I feared the Dallas crowd would be comprised of at an event such as this. That's part of the reason why, even though I'm a huge MMA fan, I watched this local card from my casa with a group of friends. Of course the other reason was that I was saving up my sports $$ to attend the 'Boys opener yesterday (which I lost my voice at - I did my part Romo!) Shame that so many people fitting that description attend these things, really doesn't help the sport in its pursuit to coss-over into the 'mainstream'...

• Sturm said the place was filled with douchers and angry $30,000 millionaires. He said that will be the last time he attends one of those events.

• @JustMe That is the UFC's 'head ring girl' if you will: Arriany Celeste. What she lacks in the bewp dept. she more than makes up for w/ her and rockin' ass and stunning face. They actually recently fired their generic 'plastic-parts' card girl in Edith Labelle. She got 'sick' before one of the UFC's biggest events in UFC 100 and the company parted ways w/ her. She is now starring in some real shitty looking straight to DVD Sci-Fi flick "Recon 2023" She does have some nice pics floating around the web though if you want to browse for them. • I think Brock Lesnar caught her in a rear naked figure four neck arm choke and pushed them boobies back into her chest. Just guessing actually, I didn't see it...to busy rooting the horns home...

• Glad you enjoyed the fights RW! There were some pretty quick finishes on that card - infact it seems most didn't even go past the 1st round Enjoy your vacation - looking forward to your full UFC wrap-up in the Observer this week, man!!
