MORE BREAKING NEWS- The Fan is a failed bit.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 2:32PMRichie stabbing his way to afternoon drive, or did Newy eat him? Is Newy next to go, he hasnt been on the last two day either.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 2:46PMI love The Fan's strategy of changing out hosts every couple of months.
Enjoy it while you can Richie!
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 3:06PMYou should be able to see the iceberg by now.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 3:20PMIn college, I was taught the best way to win in radio is develop a fan following and get your on-air personalities easily recognizable in the community.
What... wait... that's changed too? Oh crap!
Looks like The Fan got it right, after all. Mazel Tov, Richie.
Next up, Jagger does marathon shifts of generic sports points and trying to muster passion about fantasy football.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 3:29PMI tried listening, but just couldn't. Too many callers and fan texts.
Note to Fan program director: That caller driven shit doesn't work in Fort Worth/Dallas. Blame the Ticket if you want, but you need to learn to adapt to situations that aren't written in a north-easter marketing handbook.
"Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." -George Santayana
The fact that you can't keep a host more than six months is proof positive of your failure as a PD.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 3:30PMThe Fan's HR Department must be drowning in paperwork with all of these hiring and firings.
As someone who listens to The Fan all day long it was just a matter of time for Sean to go. Newy has to be next. Followed by Jasmine. Please!
(Richie, you can stay.)
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 3:40PMThe BDH & freshly rehabbed Hammer show?
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 3:44PMThe FAN was on the rise in the ratings right? NOT what a failed bit, soon the cowboys will be looking for a new radio home
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 3:46PMDeadspin reporting he was fired for sexting a promotions girl.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 3:52PMHow about a Leon Simon/Greggo Show - Barbershop & Headshop.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 3:55PMWonder what text she had to send him to get back a picture of his crank instead of a smart ass remark?
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 4:09PMThe reason the Fan has so much turnover is that the people they hire aren't WORTH a CUP OF COLD PISS !! (RW excluded, of course) Salisbury has been a p-rick since his days on ESPN and why anyone would put this guy on the air is beyond me. Hire people with a good sense of humor, who at least know a little bit and limit the calls, texting and e-mails to no more than 4 per HOUR. Tell the hosts to tell the callers that they are morons (when necessary) and I promise the Fan's ratings will go up.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 4:14PMGreg Hill & Scott fired, Ben & Skin fired, Ritchie Whitt hired, Sean Salisbury fired.....
Last Supper for The Fan?
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 4:32PMIf a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it....
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 4:47PMThe Fan is actually doing better in the ratings than ESPN Radio in Dallas.
The Fan is doing something right. Interesting development though.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 4:49PMWell there goes the 18-34 demographic The Fan was bankiing...
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 4:54PMI've run out of things to say. Seems they fire people every 2 weeks on this failed station.
Richie will be program director before too long.
Bring back Young Country.
...the place will have gone belly up by the end of January (or in this case, tits up).
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 5:15PMAmen! Not to offend one of your (former) co-workers RW, but Salisbury is an egotistical prick - getting him off the station, by whatever means, is a + in my book.
That being said some of the hiring/firing moves made by 105.3 are more than a little bit of a head scratcher.
I thought K-Scott/Hill had decent ratings for their time slot and *poof* canned.
The initial format switch to sports was basically lynch-pinned around Ben and Skin and... siyonara CoffeeNods!
I don't know exactly what direction they are taking this thing, but were I PD here would be my attempt to right the S.S. FAN ship:
1.) Fire Jagger. Look I dunno what kind of dirt of pictures jagger has on the station owner but this guy has got.to.go.
2.) Move the Pete and M. Rod show to afternoons. These are the kind of guys the FAN needs to build around imo. homegrown talent that has good chemistry on the air together. Can they compete w/ BADD... no, but there inlies my next step!
3.) $$ whip Bob and Dan to jump ship and take over afternoon drive. Considering all the shake-ups at 105.3 this likely isn't a sound career move for BADD, but everyone has their price and I'm sure a CBS owned station could kepp Bob in as many Farve onsies to last a lifetime and Dan in a cloud of porn and pot smoke
4.) RW moves to the morning shift with the always unpredictable Greg "I swear I'm not Hammered anymore" Williams!! RW already has a good rapport w/ Greggo and you cannot deny that sober or not, the huggable Hammer is a ratings draw. If you happen to hit the jackpot and he's clean... you may stuble into that lightning in a bottle
Yeah, yeah... many of these are unlikely to ever happen. But this lineup would have the best chance at rivaling kTicket if it ever came to pass.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 5:39PMCaptain Balls.
Then explain please where you got your facts, I've read the Arbitron PPM ratings. Looks like KRLD-FM is doing better than KESN-FM
May Jun Jul Aug
28 28t 25t 23t KRLD-FM
23t 24t 23 26 KFZO-FM
31 28t 29t 27t KPMZ-FM
26t 24t 25t 27t KZZA-FM
20 24t 27t 29t KESN-FM
What demo is that?
That's also the chart that has the AM-FM flipped.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 6:02PMBob and Dan are under contract for at least a few more years, so there is no way they will be leaving The Ticket. The Fan was doomed from day one. The best bet, is to just hit the reset button and switch formats again.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 6:08PMBarry Horn had a note about Arnie Spanier joining the Fan, it would appear they have a slot for him now. Good luck with that.
I have to imagine the Fan studio is a very tense place. Bunch of dead men walking it seems.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 6:11PMCaptain-
Although this doesn't affect the 25-54 numbers posted earlier in this thread: actually, you are correct, there IS a typo. Upon closer inspection & viewing a couple other sites, there's an error on the Dallas-Ft. Worth ratings grid. The August 2009 data for KRLD-AM & KRLD-FM was inverted. (This happens on www.radio-info.com's ratings grid pages sometimes, especially with stations that share the same call letters on AM & FM.)
It should read:
KRLD-AM 2.4 share 482,600 cume News/Talk CBS Radio
KRLD-FM 1.3 share 282,100 cume Sports CBS Radio
You were right. Sorry about that.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 6:12PM"The best bet, is to just hit the reset button and switch formats again."
Why not? 93.3 changes formats every month it seems....
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 6:28PMWow, seriously.
Someone wants to come on here and use the name I use.
The outlaw2448 @ 6:12 isn't the same person who uses that name.
You really want to come out and say who you are.
So if it is flipped, which could happen and from the sounds of it did.
So sorry on that, but seriously I don't come on here saying
I'm NameThatDudeSingingLikeARollingStone.
All these Ticket lovers are really ridiculous!!! WHY OH WHY do you LOVE that station so much??!! I've lived here for 10+ yrs and I am dumber for having to listen to that thing for my sports listening pleasure!
Look the other stations are not any good really in their own right but there are some REAL landmines on the Ticket after Norm. From 12-7 The Ticket is a radio wasteland! I say that knowing full well that they win ratings etc etc etc but it is HORRENDOUS!!! makes me wonder about the general listening public. Honestly WHAT IS IT THAT YOU LIKE ABOUT BADD RADIO AND THE HARDLINE???!!!
It's 6 guys talking to each other like YOU don't exist and NONE of it is any entertaining no matter how many times they say P 1 (dumbest term ever, by the way)!!!
Dallas sports radio is an absolute morass.
I would rather listen to dead air on 105.3 than GAC or Corby on the ticket.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 7:13PMI agree with BeefSupreme! I think Greggo would get bored talking politics with BDH. A sports show with Richie could be just the thing to get Greggo back on track. Later, try to bring in "the devil Grubes" & Danny. But keep that frickin snake the hell away!!!
@Holmes's Rectal....pretty funny dude!!
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 8:38PMSlim Shady....Gallaway was'nt bad untill they put him with that "Gordo wanna be", and that other idiot. [please leave all fake Jerry's to Gordon!!]
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 8:43PMIt's funny for a little bit, but seriously don't keep doing it. Whoever you are.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 9:04PMLeon Simon/ Greggo = Barbershop/ Headshop .... freaking hilarious....
Corby SUX - cannot handle listening to him. Greggo MADE the Hardline. Without him, even Rhyner sux. It's GAC for me at 3. Otherwise, I'm pretty much always on the Ticket. The only time I'm ever on the Fan is to listen to the Rangers when I cannot watch. I'm sure it'll be the same with the Boys.
The way I see 105.3 succeeding as a sports station is if CBS made a wise purchase....
105.3 The Ticket?
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 @ 9:26PMI don't want the points. I don't need the points. I'll take the points. But I don't need the points.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 1:25AMSo Richie lives in Dallas and covers the Dallas sports scene, AJ Daulerios lives in New York and covers the national sports scene, and Daulerio has details Richie doesn't?
And it seems unlikely with Richie working at the Fan that he didn't know. In this case, can we say his work at the Fan is hurting his ability to do his job at the Observer?
And if he didn't know, isn't that worse? That there's news at the radio station he works at and he gets scooped by a national site that generally doesn't pay much attention to Dallas specifically?
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 4:22AMBill Haterade...
Thanks for pointing that out. That's extremely weak, even for you Richie. Makes you wonder how much he knows about his buddy Greggo that he isn't reporting also.
Follow the link for the real report.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 10:17AMAt this moment that article on deadspin is still just a rumor.
No one has come out publicly with any truth to the matter.
If that happened, well sucks to be Sean, if it didn't happen then it sucks to be 105.3
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 10:33AMBringing in Arnie made me vomit while driving. Blowhards from the coasts do NOT work in the market.
And I agree with whoever said move MRod and Pete to afternoons. Easily my favorite guys to listen to on the station, and they have good chemistry. I only tune out the show when they start reading text after text after text, which I bet is a command from the bosses. In the early days of their show, it was much more banter and thoughts from Mike and Pete, and it was a good start.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 10:40AMCorby lacks talent. Stick to Yuck Monkey.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 11:27AMWait, you mean Deadspin can embellish a story for their own gain? Unless it's about Josh Hamilton, right?
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 11:52AMRich M, 10 yrs ago was about the time Corby joined Hardline. The show pre-Corby was def better. Man, I miss Greggo & Rhyner talkin sports. Anybody remember Greggo's rant on Roy Tarpley? He called Tarpley a "termite"! He said "A termite will come in your house, eat you out of house and home, and then walk right out the front door! Tarpley's a termite Rhynes!" I miss the days when you actually LAUGHED at the show!
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 12:21PMHang in rw, another month or two you'll be in drive time...imagine this fellow sporties: AM and PM drive times hosted by gay guys, we're a fan of guys here at 105.3 the fan
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 2:00PMCome on Richie...Seriously, you expect us to buy that??
It's 2 days before the Flagship station of the Dallas Cowboys kicks off their much anticipated season and they just let Sean, one of the bigger names and the pregame guy walk?? Say what you want about it, he's a big name...
No doubt their scrambling now. And again, I don't buy this one bit. No way would Sean walk away before the going on this station is supposed to get good...ie. Rangers playoff possiblities and the Cowboys season. The Fan is entering the make or break season for them right now and they need all hands on deck.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 2:11PMAs a pretty hardcore P1 for the better part of 15 years, I would like some variety too. I'm still down with the Musers and seemingly always will be.
But Norm has become a tune-out. A jeweler from Michigan? Really? And he is just so enamored with every guest he has. "Ooo" this and "awwww" that and everything the guest says just impresseseseses the shit out of him.
BADD is good unless they are fawning all over Bowling for Soup spares. Bowling for Soup?!?!?!?!? They sucked in 1996 and they suck now. They sound like 12 year old girls.
And the Hardline? It's gotten to where Corby starts a story, Rhyner (yes RHYNER) doesn't undestand what's going on, Danny rips him for it, Grubes plays a drop then they all chuckle for 5 minutes. Stop. Repeat. And that's it. I mean half the show is Rhyner chuckling and the other half is Corby and Danny going off on a tangent while Grubes plays drops. I'm out on them. Haven't listened in 3 weeks.
Time for some new blood in this town. As someone said, some homegrown shit without all the "fan texts" and callers. No one cares what Bob in Saginaw has to say about the DH.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 4:22PMTeam up Greggo and k-scott for a 11am-2/3pm slot. That would give a solid base to build on.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 5:21PMmanny mann, youre right on with your description of the Hardline, but that still is funny to me. I just want to be entertained. the drops that Grubes plays are genious.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 5:58PM105.3 is doomed.
No one cares what Paul in Plano has to say about anything.
Give us editorials, opinions and commentary.
Don't give us the opinion of Willie Bob in Weatherford.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 6:35PMRich M - The reason us P1s love The Ticket is that the hosts actually bring something to the table. They have some creativity and imagination. They are NOT like 105.3 hosts who just sit there and play texts/e-mails all day long. 105.3 is just a bunch of "guy sports" (Ticket P1s know what that is) who do generic sports talk that any talking head off the street can do. As the late Rhyner says, "The Ticket can do what the others do, but the others can't do what The Ticket does".
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 7:39PMSay what you want about drops, chuckles, etc. on the Ticket, I happen to love it, but to each thier own.
One thing about The Ticket hosts is that they do radio. They may have bands or whatever, but they bring whatever (even supid) sports points to bear on the radio only. Bob's blog being the exception, but that existed prior to D picking him up. Living in St. Louis, the sports radio here is top to bottom newspaper columnists and TV anchors, and they sound like newspaper columnists / TV anchors doing radio, not radio show hosts.
So my two thoughts are:
1 - Focusing on one product leads to a better product.
2 - A reporter who reports on "TV, radio, and that damned media," and now is part of it, concerns me when it comes to your objectivity. Salisbury / Greggo being two potential examples.
Hope you'll prove me wrong, just tossing it out there in the hopes it will elicit a rare Richie response.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 12 2009 @ 11:44PMTo all the Ticket Backers (P1's, I guess):
the only show that is listenable all year round is the musers. Very creative and usually funny no matter the season.
Everyone else? PLEASE GOD TELL ME WHAT SHRED OF CREATIVITY ARE YOU LISTENING TO???!!! please!!
I've listened for 10 yrs! The hardline was good sans Corby. Greggo and Rhyner were great together being the leaders of the anti cowboy faction and all that. When greggo got rich, he got messed up on drugs and it all went to he'll ALONG with corby joining the show, a complylete misfit on that show.
Badd radio is ABSOLUTELY UNLISTENABLE!!!
Norm is great from sept to feb and then for the week leading up to the draft and then he loses me with bb and baseball. Yaaawn.
How you let these guys dominate all your day is sad! 12-7 is just absolute trash with no creativity. What's on my TiVo? Who fing cares? What's on mikes mind? Who cares?
Thank god for the other stations to get away from that crap!!!
The Ticket (mainly) blows!!!
@Rich M: if the Ticket blows, why are they #1?
Posted On: Sunday, Sep. 13 2009 @ 12:52AMYou are the very definition of "conflict of interest". YOU NEED TO STOP COMMENTING ON SPORTS RADIO! I actually like your sports posts, but now that you work for the 105.3, how are we supposed to believe you weren't told what to post by your bosses - come on - are you a hack or a journalist or a radio personality? You can be a hack with either, but the other two are mutually exclusive. And if you don't agree I really can't respect you as a journalist.
Posted On: Sunday, Sep. 13 2009 @ 12:58AMSorry - you can be both a journalist and radio personality that I respect as long as you don't comment on sports radio here!
Posted On: Sunday, Sep. 13 2009 @ 1:00AMCaller-driven radio is a colossal beating no matter what market you live in. It was virtually unlistenable when I was growing up near Philly... the Touchdown Brothers have that bit nailed. The Ticket is popular in part because they're very much into the "theater of the mind" thing even if some folks here think it sucks. Most program managers are obsessed with the listener when most people listening don't want to hear other listeners. And you don't have to go the other way by turning to obnoxious loud mouths either. Don't know how many stations need to learn that lesson the hard way. I happen to love what the Ticket offers even though BaD radio and the Hardline (and Gordo) are obsessed with porn and divorce and often drift into locker room talk (the "swingers roundtable" may have been the stations lowest point). But when I went back to the East Coast recently, even super-spare Bowling for Soup talk seemed far more interesting than the beatdown of listeners thinking their opinions are gold because they're doing well in their fantasy league, or they can't believe they're on the air and kiss the ass of the host trying to be their friend, etc...
As for journalistic credibility in question because a reporter works for both a paper and a radio station, I guess in today's economy you take whatever and however many gigs you can get and see what sticks.
And someone tell Sean Salisbury he wasn't that great...
Posted On: Sunday, Sep. 13 2009 @ 10:23AMWay to just repeat yerself RichM. You hate, got it.
@em: I absolutely agree the swingers round table was the low point of the last 3 years for the station. Swingers are one step below rabid sea gulls on the evolutionary scale.
And back on topic kinda, with Sturm and Georgie doing pre-game on the Ticket, who is actually listening to the Fan right now? Seriously. Who and why?
Posted On: Sunday, Sep. 13 2009 @ 11:13AMI in same ways agree with Rich M.
IN the fact that I can't listen to it sometimes when I get a good signal from the station.
As for why would someone hate if The Ticket is #1 is a little obvious, it is all in what you like.
Posted On: Sunday, Sep. 13 2009 @ 11:37AMI tried listening to The Ticket today during the game. No good, it was all cross-talk and they teased this week they would be commenting on the game.
I had to go back to the TV announcers. Next week, radio (not laptop) to listen to Brad Sham while watching the game.
ET P1
Posted On: Sunday, Sep. 13 2009 @ 4:41PM@ milky Mann & manny mann ( same P1?) I feel gross writing p1 ugggh
anyway why is the tckt #1??? I don't know nor understand. The only thing I can think of is that they were the first and only and maybe at ONE time they were the very thing they vilify (a sports talk station)
More likely they were the only thing on and people got comfortable with them. When you have the fact that you are the only game in town FOR YEARS, you are going to be # 1
It may always be like that bc they do appeal to lots of people but I think that's because it's what people are used to and when new stuff comes around people bristle at it.
Lemme ask you this: if the ticket hosts and mgmt think what they had was so absolutely revolutionary, so difft, so great, so not cliche, so appealing, so strong WHY are all their promos telling you, "hey don't leave WE'RE the originals!!"
I wouldn't even acknowledge the other stations.
Oh and acquiring the Stars??? NO ONE LISTENS TO HOCKEY!!! People barely WATCH IT!!!
"The best bet, is to just hit the reset button and switch formats again."
Hey, I hear Bob McNeil's available...
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 7:22AMThank God!!! Now they'll hopefully pair Dan O'Malley up with someone with personality and who isn't an obnoxious bore.
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 9:21AMRich m,
I think we get it...you don't like the Ticket. I can relate...I can't stand the concept of American Idol and the one time I watched started to throw up in my mouth...so I don't watch it...apparently a lot of other people do (see ratings), but I don't...BECAUSE I THINK IT SUCKS, and I don't care how many morons watch it. I have an idea for you...listen to something other than the Ticket!
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 11:25AMWhy isn't the person hiring these guys getting fired?????
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 3:24PMRichie,
how did Barry Horn beat you on scooping the new 2-6pm lineup?
What the hell. Don't you work there?
I first started listening to the ticket when the Hardline was on in the afternoon. To be honest, Greggo always irked me, but what I've realized since he was exiled, is that the hardline sucks without him. Corby + Depends Mike + Country Star Danny mail-it-in everyday with the same damn schtick. It sucks.
That being said, Greggo screwed himself and really doesn't deserve a 3rd(4th?) chance anywhere.
Still, the fan has sucked from day one and so I usually tune into the hardline out of sheer boredom anyways.
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 5:36PMTwo yankees talking local sports, really Richie? Do you approve? Oh, of course you do, you work there.
When is the Fish on board?
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 6:41PMI don't care what people say. There's an energy of some kind at the Fan. If they can just put something of "any" quality together. Yeah...maybe fire the dude doing the hiring. Maybe he's braindead! 103.3 has always had kind of a sullen vibe. Fan should $-whip some Ticket talent!
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 8:14PMThe most talented host the Fan has is kept tucked under the matress on weekend mornings. They need to get John Clay the car dude to fill the empty seats weekdays. Wolf's energy and banter with callers is priceless.
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 8:45PMWe are affilliate sponsors on Wolfe's Sat car show. Your 100% correct, you put John Clay on weekdays on the fan, he'd be a ticket taker. The guy jsut gets better and better saturday mornings driving to work.
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 8:50PMWho was on today? The bigger question is who cares?
Actually the real questions are, why did I read the comments to the end and reply, and why do I bother to read RW's blog regarding something at that station, it's obvious management directed him as to what to write. I have to agree, I like the sport's posts but when it comes to reporting on the Fan and the sports media, it's just a hack move not to fully report on it.
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 14 2009 @ 11:36PMThe more I look at Salisbury's face in that header I am convinced he had just came off a serious drunk when that picture was taken.
Posted On: Tuesday, Sep. 15 2009 @ 11:19AMlistened to those guys yesterday, and damn, sucked isn't strong enough of a word.
Sorry Richie, I'm tuned out on the Fan except when you and Newy are on. I can't give Jagger the nod over the Musers, at all. Yeah, they're all good people, but they're in a bad time slot. Might as well move Jagger to afternoon drive and mail in the mornings on the Fan.
With Salisbury gone and two new idiots that don't talk texas sports I'm out.Back to 103.3
Posted On: Tuesday, Sep. 15 2009 @ 7:29PMi have listened to newy laugh at, insult and totally ignore callers for a couple of days now.
which leads me to believe he knows he is on his way out.
a couple of examples come to mind:
1)k-scott suddenly became increasingly impatient with callers a week before he and gregg hill's show was canned.
2)ben constantly made fun of the callers for a week leading up to their demise.
3)salisbury engaged in text msg disputes with his callers and also began to express anger with them leading up to his canning.
just listen to the show and when newy is not faking laughter or perfecting his unique art of allowing dead air, you will hear him take calls and either quickly move onto another call or ridicule the previous call.
he is not long for the radio world.
twice failed in this market.
he will not see Christmas.
That sucks, I will miss Sean. Damn passionate about sports. I have tried listening to the new guys and can't do it.
Posted On: Wednesday, Sep. 16 2009 @ 1:55AMThe new guys are TERRIBLE. I can't make it more than a minute or two with them. Luckily, that's usually long enough to get me back from commercial on either the Ticket or 103.3.
I keep waiting for those guys to say they "gotta rip somebody"
Posted On: Wednesday, Sep. 16 2009 @ 12:52PMAll of the Fan guys sexted All of the promo girls and they were shopping for houses in las colinas
Posted On: Wednesday, Sep. 16 2009 @ 3:14PMWhat the F is this East Coast radio show they have in the afternoons now? I can do it. One of these guys used to do games for the Eagles and now he is some sort of Cowboys expert/fan. GET THE F OUTTA HERE!!! The new PD is a idiot.I'm like the previous guy, I can barely listen until Galloway comes back from comercial.
Posted On: Wednesday, Sep. 16 2009 @ 5:28PMSalisbury was hard to agree with much of the time, but he was the only personality on the FAN with strong opinions. I did enjoy his football knowledge. Now Gordo and Georgio don't even need to do their fake Northeasterner sports-talk bit. It's on the FAN every afternoon with Tony Ravioli and Vito Rigatoni. Richie, it is disappointing that you can offer no more info on the matter than you have. . . seems like you've got a true conflict of interests. Although the Observer seems to be struggling (can't even squeeze comics into the budget anymore) it's your bread and butter cause the fan is a sinking ship brotha.
On a side note, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one whose ticket status has dropped to P2 as I now channel surf in the afternoons. Corby is unlistenable. My rule is to punch out as soon as he mentions "OU" or starts some stupid pointless story to point out how awesome he is. That said, I don't hear more than about 20 minutes of the Hardline on any given day. Corby steals his dialect and speech from Danny and his humor from Gordon but he's no good at either. If the Ticket ever goes under he's gonna be living in a cardboard box with Ron Washington.
One name that I didn't see mentioned as a DFW sport talk idiot is Matt Mosely. He is what drove me to try listening to Ben and Skin and now that Sean and Dan are gone, I'm going back to Galloway. Please 103.3, get rid of Mosely, please!
Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 17 2009 @ 10:23AMMatt Mosely! That must be the guy doing the fake Jerry bit. He is truly lame! Gallaway was SO MUCH better solo!!
Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 17 2009 @ 1:45PMThe FAN sucks soooo bad now. Newy is good for 5 min on NBC5 but not for 3 freaking hours. Sean just yelled at people and talked about "sexting" for 3 hours, and I'm not a fan of the 2 new guys that are on 3-6. Ben & Skin were good because they talked sports, were funny, and weren't pissed off all the time.
By the way, the FAN is suppose to be a SPORTS station but they get off on all these stupid ass subjects that make me change to a real sports station such as the TICKET or ESPN.
Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 17 2009 @ 6:07PMThe best under the radar show in radio is Choppy and Wally on ESPN. They're actually good.
Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 17 2009 @ 10:02PMsean salisbuy sent a text to me two weeks ago stating he was in Dallas to stay.
i told him if he did not lay off the remarks concerning Faith/Jesus/Christianity he would be gone.
he told me to take me Jesus and stick it.
i told him to show newy a pic of his baby...... that was the last i heard from him.
Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 17 2009 @ 10:32PMI just got around to reading this column today, read a lot of the posts, one thing comes to mind: Richie, you have not responded to even ONE post on your blog! Hmmm...WTF? No one asked about Dan O'Malley, a decent co-host but no star, wonder why he stays in radio? Salisbury became schizoed out, his "Jay Cutler is my friend I like him, for a cry baby pussy that is", comments proved that. Bring in some humor or go under 105.3, the new yankee tandem sucks so bad I have to listen to satellite radio (and that really sucks too)!
Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 17 2009 @ 11:35PMI hope Richie is next!!! He gets the hater of the year award. U can't say anything about T.O. without him hating. What did T.O. do to you? Did he take your girl or something? To not want him with the Cowboys is one thing but he said he "Wishes" TO to fail. What a haterade drinking jack ass. The fan should trade him 4 Salisbury. I really hope he reads this!
Posted On: Thursday, Sep. 17 2009 @ 11:36PM@caseyatthebat: seriously, what i know i've written. sean was always nice to me, but i never worked a show with him. all i know is in my update. the deadspin "sexting" rumors aren't true. he had a bad temper and a squeezed time schedule. that's it.
@Mjones: I read them all. I've said repeatedly that T.O. was a great receiver and should be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. But his personal, selfish agenda make me wish failure upon him. Yes. And this season so far so good, eh? By the way, I also wish failure upon Brett Favre and ... Where do I pick up my award?
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 18 2009 @ 12:04AMThese people just don't get it.
Salisbury always came across as a California know-it-all who was just passing through town on his way to his latest alimony hearing. Plus, he talked too much about his mediocre QB career.
And surely nothing makes a Dallas listener want to tune in more than hearing some grating New York accent (Arnie Spanier) try to tell us what's wrong with the Cowboys and Rangers.
There is nothing worth listening to on The Fan but the game broadcasts.
I love how sean always said that he wouldn't get fired. looks like management got the last laugh.
Posted On: Friday, Sep. 18 2009 @ 7:19AMI have a bobble head of Greggo from Ticketstock 2000. I put it on my dash to remind me of his monosyllabic comments during the show. While I agree with RGW's comment to Keyshawn that Sean "ain't that great", I do have this to say to DFW sports radio listeners: Arnie Spanier ain't the answer. Arnie Spanier is Rocco with a bunch of body-snatcher seed pods in his pickup.
I'm sure the "inner circle" "untouchables" at the Ticket sometimes tire of their roles in the sports community here. Fortunately, they seldom let it show in their performance. I think the proof is in the pudding also that The Ticket has bred a Next Generation of talented journalist/entertainers who will either extend or spread what we love about The Ticket all about this great land of ours.
And, in God's Name, will somebody buy the Stars and the Rangers from Tom Hicks. If he could be made to sell the 'horns, I'd be for that too.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 19 2009 @ 12:48AMSpectator, I wish I could be as optimistic as you. I know we have a certain loyalty, as we feel we helped nurse it from it's infancy. But if it's not there, it's just not there! I was told a while back that Hardline audience had increased greatly among 12 yr old demo. That would explain Corby's popularity. I'd like to see Rhyner get a foot hold again with a show of some quality.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 19 2009 @ 1:48AMI think it's cool to show people your wiener.
Posted On: Saturday, Sep. 19 2009 @ 11:27AMJasmine should be the one that is fired. Her voice and comments make me want to stab myself in the neck. She makes my ears bleed just listening to her speak
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 21 2009 @ 11:40AMNewy is the worst you have on this station. He sucks on TV and he sucks even more on the radio. Get rid of the whole damn crew and start over. Jagger show (minus Jasmine) is the best you have right now. They need to fire the person that hired Jasmine.
Posted On: Monday, Sep. 21 2009 @ 11:50AMthis station won't be around much longer with people like arnie the prick on.this is dallas not new fuckin york.hate to listen to that prick.
Posted On: Tuesday, Sep. 22 2009 @ 5:02AM105.3 is no good they get you hooked on there personal and then they cut them.
Posted On: Tuesday, Sep. 22 2009 @ 5:59AMDoes anyone know if Dan O'Malley was fired or if he quit because Sean got canned?
Posted On: Tuesday, Sep. 22 2009 @ 10:22AMI heard that sean got fired because he showed someone a pic of Richie
Posted On: Tuesday, Sep. 22 2009 @ 10:50PM105.3 is doomed. The format was much better before the change because it was talk radio. There is already a top tier sports station in the metroplex.
After the Cowboy season it will become 105.3 La Lechuga
Posted On: Wednesday, Sep. 23 2009 @ 7:54AManyone remember when richie filled in for Greggo twice at KTCK? He was told, um thank you, we have your phone number. He failed before, he will fail again. there is nothing wrong with being a writer. keep your real job.
Posted On: Wednesday, Sep. 23 2009 @ 8:08PMI tried listening to the FAN...horrible...I actually heard Jasmine ( a grl on sports radio??) stated that Chris Davis was the Rangers MVP!!? I almost died when I heard that....wow
