Richie honest feedback here...

There's several guys on the Fan that I enjoy hearing from, you're one of them. The one I cannot STAND hearing from is...the callers.

The format The Fan is pursuing just sucks. If I want to hear a bunch of half-baked, ill-informed opinions and idiotic ideas about sports, I'll just strike up a conversation with my friends. I listen to a sports radio station to hear the opinions and information from people who make it their daily work to know as much as possible about sports. Not to hear Richie Whitt say "But I want to know about what you the fan thinks about the price of beer at Cowboy Stadium, does it annoy you?"

I want to like the Fan, but this caller and feedback intensive format is a complete beating.

I wish you the best...I just hope you get more airtime on your show than some doofus in Waxahachie who can't form complete sentences.

Does this mean you will now develop a huge coke habit?

Thank you for giving me something to listen to from 10am to noon. You are going to kill Norm.

I agree, while I enjoy listening to Newy (only show I can stand) and especially the days when RW is co-host (don't like that Richard Durrett guy), I absolutely hate all the phone calls they take. A few phone calls an hour I can stomach, but a few phone calls every segment is too much.

You're better than Mike Irvin. We've desperately needed something for Ticket commercial breaks during Norm and BaD Radio. Score.

2. Don't put your hands or anything else too close to Newy's mouth.
3. The Hardline had a fun time with the Barry Horn column the day it came out. Rhyner said there's only one demo that counts, and that he has never even seen what their 18-34 numbers are. Corby sounded a little more miffed at Horn and the Fan GM.
Rhyner showed his old brain by pointing out that those numbers are for those "who tune in, not how long somebody stays there." Um...the numbers work the same for you, too, Old Gray One.
4. Haven't seen any mention here that of the most listened to radio shows on the Internet, The Hardline and The Musers are the only non-syndicated shows making the list.

Congrats, Richie! If only you could have a co-host OTHER THAN NEWY! I don't care much for mid-days on The Ticket, so if there was just some way to replace Newy with Rhadigan or someone, this would be perfect!

Long live The Ticket. They can do what you and Newie do, RW, but I'm pretty sure you guys can't do what they do.

Congratulations on the gig, Richie. Sorry about all the P1 nut-kicks. I suppose it's about identifying with a team, like the random sports fan that talks about the team he or she roots for as if they were a team member, as in "If we can get a number one receiver" etc. Hey, I love rooting for and watching all of our local teams, and I am a Ticket P1 because I love their shows. None of the successes or failures of any of the aforementioned affect my life in any substantive way. It's merely entertainment, it doesn't pay my bills if the Cowboys win or the Ticket wins the ratings war. As Rhyner (who I used to listen to on the equally irreplaceable KZEW)says occasionally, at some point the Ticket will go away. We will all live on and turn elsewhere for our entertainment.

Anyway, Richie, sell those chickens before they die and those eggs before they hatch. And seriously, put a bug in the suit's ears about maybe NOT turning over the radio show to a bunch of radio amatuers. (callers, like me) Listen to Rush Limbaugh some time if you can stand it. There's a reason he is so successful, and it ain't caller-driven radio.

Do that, and I might tune in. I tried to like the FAN on several occasions and gave up because of a lack of interest.

richie, allow me to apologize on behalf of my commenting brethren. maybe this speaks of their listening habits or worse, maybe their mamas didn't raise them right enough to know that in these sorts of situations, a simple 'congrats!' will do.

First of all let me say congratulations RW. I’m lad to see you found a home and I’m hopeful that you can parlay that into a successful radio career. Having said that I must confess that I will rarely listen for two reasons:

1. My work schedule means I am asleep most days at the time you will be on the air.

2. Newie sucks big green donkey dicks.

Just a quick side note for those that can’t get the Ticket on 1310; they do have an FM signal out of Sanger on 104.1. I live in Denton currently so it’s perfect fro me, but I could also pick up the signal in Garland and I can get it in Westlake as well. So if you live in the northern extremes of the Metroplex try 104.1FM.

Congrats Richie. I cracked up yesterday with you guys talkin about craigslist. When the caller said he could have easily robbed the little dude, and Newwy said he was "sizing him up"!

Thanks for sharing Richie. I haven't heard you on the radio as you yet, so I may flip over sometime before noon to check it out. Despite the fact that I really can't stand Newey for more than a few minutes at any given time. The only thing I find appealing about him is at least he isn't Ben or Skin.

But ever since the great Donavan's joined BADD Radio, I really enjoy hearing them too much to wander far from the little Ticket in the afternoon.

btw, please rip boomer sooner this week for that massive dump they put on display last night. ha ha ha!

One thing the non year one, two, or three P1 Ticket listeners don't know, or perhaps have forgotten, is that the early Ticket had A LOT of caller driven content. Sure, Gordon did his thing with The Hardline in those days, and the Musers have always had a bit or two, but RO, Herman in Mesquite, Pittsburg Dave, etal were frequent callers as well as the typical one time caller. The Cowboys were huge, winning, and everyone wanted to talk about them. I don't deny that Joe in Garland's take on a failed bunt in the 9th inning is somewhat of a beating, but to be honest, as a day one listener of the Ticket, hearing how drunk Corby got over the weekend or about Dan taking his kids to Sbarro's is not exactly riveting radio. A lot of you guys are too brainwashed to realize you are listening to drivel. At least I have the sense to either turn away and listen to music or waste five minutes listening and wondering why they think I give a shit about their boring personal lives. If FM music in this town weren't so pathetic, and the rest of the AM band so fucking far up the right wing's ass (except 1360) there might be something for guys past 30 to listen to. Sadly, there isn't. Back to my point--The Fan is trying to fill a niche that the Ticket has left behind. Involving callers instead of "enlightening" them with stories of shitty cover bands, Rangers' bandwaggoning or what a spare Bobby Carpenter is. By the way, Grubes, Danny and Jer are keeping the station interesting. Most everyone else is mailing it in and collecting a check.

OK RW Man the FAN is just HORRIBLE! Not so much the guys behind the mike but listening to a bunch of "a station built around YOU the fan" is a beating for real. I agree with what someone said earlier. If I wanted to hear people who no NOTHING about sports all I have to do is ask the next dumbass I run into.
