A Moment of Silence for Your Texas Rangers

• The five most dreaded words for any Rangers fan to hear: "We go to Jim Knox." As long as he's around, Rangers have no chance.

• I put the blame squarely on the team's Pharmacy Coach. A few high profile mishaps and he let his game slip.

• @John Madden's Last Dump: Great points. Seriously. Those were indeed momentum-killers.

• I ought to be hopeful and anticipating next year. I'm not. I have less hope now than I did in April. As long as that boat anchor is hanging around Tom Hicks neck the Rangers are going down with him. Jerry might irritate the hell out of me but at least he is willing to spend money. Daniels, Ryan and Warsh did the best they could with what they were given.

• I can't help but wonder how the AL West would have shaken out if Wash managed the Angels and Scioscia managed the Rangers. I think the Rangers would be leading the division and might have clinched it by now. Add in a swap of hitting coaches, and the Rangers would have clinched for sure.

• I'll go with: A. Tom Hicks. (hurry up and sell the team!) B. Rudy Jaramillo. (I'll join the masses and lame you for the lackluster hitting this year.) F. Anaheim Angels. (they are too good) I. A-Rod. (just don't like him) K. Vicente Padilla. (see below) L. Swine Flu. (too bad the swine flu didn't kill Padilla) O. Injuries. (they happen) Q. Robin Ventura. (he needs Nolan to kick his ass again) W. The Curse of Sucking. (yep) Y. Hank Blalock. (good riddance)

• Two things not mentioned... The Ranger's were playing well at 10 games over .500 in mid June then against the Dodgers, the power went out for about two hours.It seemed like we went into a funk, going 13-13 until the break (all the while losing ground to the Angels. Then in September, we just swept Cleveland, 3 games in 24 hours, were looking very confident, had an off day, then a rain soaked weekend effed us up and we finish the month 6-12 and out of the race. I think we lost momentum as team after those two incidents. But probably, losing Michael and Josh late was the main reason.

• This season is a success in terms of showing improvement and initiative. The real risk, in terms of whether or not the Rangers suck next year, lies in the hands of Hicks (who gets my vote for this year, so A.). He could single-handedly screw up everything that went well this year with his financial troubles.

• i don't see the fans on that list. after all, that's who the whiny bitch players were blaming (publicly) right around the time they mailed it in and called it a season (a month ago?).

• give me a,b,c,d,e,k,o...but it was a good year anyhow..nobody, and I mean nobody thought we would be in the race until May let alone late September. It was cool to see some young guys come up and excel and I for one am very much looking forward to next year and hopefully an ownership change and return to health by Hambone..

• I dont think this season was a failure at all. The Rangers were playing meaningful baseball in September. Its still amazing this team lost becuase of a lack of offense. After this season how can anyone not be excited about 2010?

• I've been saying it all season, so I'm just repeating myself. But why not. Washington has got to go. This team is not serious about winning as long as he is around making inexplicable decisions that cost this team games. Wash's decisions alone cost this team at least four games this year that I watched. Jaramillo has to go as well. It was fun, but looking at the hitters on this team chop at first pitches constantly is tiresome. It is obvious that, excepting Young, the players who had the most exposure to Rudy are also the least patient at the plate and have more strikeouts. What Rudy teaches is clearly not meshing with the rest of the organization, as evidenced by players like Borbon, Andrus, and Davis. When a 20 year old rookie is the second most patient hitter on the team, something is wrong. One factor beyond the team's control is the division they're stuck in. Being in the same division as the Angels is annoying, but a fact of life. If they were in the Central, it would be a whole different ballgame. Obviously, the sooner Hicks sells the team, the better as well. This team could have a bright future, but a lot of factors are too unclear to be sure. My fingers are crossed.

• I blame Tom Hicks whenever I can. Though I think the ghosts of Steve Howe and Darrell Porter might have had a thing or two to do with this as well.

• Hicks is a failure, the team was a disappointment in the end for not making a move that could have gotten them in the playoffs. But they kept it far more interesting and relevant than the majority of years. So get rid of Hicks, let Nolan keep building the team with young guys and hopefully the new owner will enable them to make moves when needed. Oh, and get rid of Rudy too. I think anyone can teach how to strikeout.

• I don't see this year as a failure at all. The team met and went beyond most all expectations and we saw great improvement in pitching...young pitching even. It was great to follow the team so late into the season when the games had real meaning. Now, if we don't improve next year, then we can talk about failure.
