I Know I'm Not Supposed to Say Anything Nice About The Ticket, But ...

• Ben & Skin did a parody calling Tim Columnshaw "The Most Interesting Man He Knows" well before The Ticket dropped their promo. Long live Benjamin & Skinjamin!

• The Ticket is evolving. Sadly, it is turning into a combo of fart drops, mail-ins and average sports talk. However, it is still one of the better listens in DFW, only because the radio here sucks. I guess the thing that bothers me most about the station, aside from Corby being a host and not a yuk monkey, is the overall tone of all the hosts that they are pretty fucking impressed with themselves because of their ratings dominance. I guess it doesn't matter that they are a shadow of the early days of the Ticket in the nineties when the bits weren't 10 years old, or the fact that the station owes it's early ratings to the Cowboys Super Bowl wins/football crazed Dallas of the late nineties and the backwoods witicisms of the late great Greggo. What they have today is largely carry over from those days and some word of mouth from sports fans. The Musers and Hardline make enough money now to simply not give a shit anymore, and BAD Radio is a beatdown because I think Bob and Dan both are a couple of assholes, regardless of Bob's trips to orphanages with his church buddies. Donovan has done one good thing--the Upper Decker prank. Other than that, he is just kinda there. And Norm...well, he smacks his lips. A lot. As far as the ad, it is a ripoff, hell they even use the "if they disagree with you it's because you are wrong" line from the actual TMIMITW radio commercial. BTW, Gordo is talented, but only where he is w/ George and Craig and maybe in his Quick columns. His show was the offspring of a trainwreck and an abortion. No funeral. Click...BOOM!!!

• When Gordo was on the Mark Cuban Show it seemed like any moment he was going to drop to his knees and give Mark oral man love.

• correction to my post above: 3. People with no life should not come onto a blog and bitch about people with no life. I�m willing to bet that the majority of the posters on this blog show up for the same reason I do; I�m bored at work and the DO blogs are not blocked by the company firewall. If that implies that I�m a nerd that needs to get a life then I guess I�m a nerd and I need to get a life, but at least I am not a hypocritical nerd that needs to get a life.

• 1. I like the most interesting man on Earth ads and like Ritchie I dig the ticket knock-off ad as well. Just a side note there is no comparison between stations in other markets copying the ticket and the ticket doing a parody of a well known ad campaign. Most people that have listened to the Ticket are aware of the XX ad campaign can we say the same about radio listeners in San Antonio and Salt Lake City regarding 1310? How many people in SA are even aware of what is on the air on 1310 in Dallas? Do you know what is on 1310 in San Antonio? 2. All Gen-Xers either have some toys or have friends that do. It�s what we do; we play videogames, surf the web and collect minutia from our childhood. Corby is a bit out of touch in that regard, but name a TV or radio personality that isn�t out of touch about something. 3. • three things that annoy me... 1. the copy cat ad that ticket does with the most interesting man etc.. its one of the stupidest things they have ever done. nothing original about that at all. 2. as soon as i hear either that crap or the bullshit about the stupid Macaroni awards i want to vomit. no one gives a shit about some no name award that the masses have never heard of. 3. unlike all the other ticket personnel (junior, jib, corby, bob, mike), have you ever noticed how Gordon never talks about his family life? i have it from first hand knowledge that everyone gives him crap at the station because he spends most of his day digging up garbage on people to bad mouth. however, he is on complete lockdown with respect to his wife and two kids. he's a spare - thats probably he hasn't been worth a damn on TV. i love the ticket and went to fight night so i am not a ticket hater but those three things are crap. bob-out.

• Corby is indeed awful, but BaD radio is the most unoriginal show going (all of their humor arises from material that is not their own). However, the Fan is unlistenable.

• I think it's funny how the same douchery that defends Corby (i.e. Bob) proclaims how "cool" they are by calling people nerds. Nerds? What is this, high school? I've got a girlfriend who is engaged to a guy who collects those toys (I have no idea what they all are, probably trans-formers and such) and he makes high 6-figures so if that's a "nerd" hook me up honey!

• I was laughing at Corby's Shaq segment the otherday.[Maybe the ONLY time I've laughed at Corby segment] Corby's a lot of things, but he's not stupid. He's not about to take a chance on getting his bag exposed nationally...and quite a "bag" she be!!! 3 weeks in, Shaq's people would be like..."O.K. Shaq, one more time....you see WHAT in this guy?!"

• Choppy and Wally are growing on me at ESPN. Those guys are pretty funny and kind of Ticketish.

• The Ticket has some imagination - it took some thought to make that commercial. That is what makes The Ticket different from the other 2 stations. 105.3 the Fail has nothing. I was forced to listen Sean Salisbury and some spare today - all they did was take calls, read e-mails, read text messages and then comment on them. No originality at all - they don't need to have show prep meetings, they just need to turn on the PC and phone. Thought my head was going to explode from the sheer boredom.

• Gordon Keith and Dan McDowell are the only real talent at 1310 in my opinion. Keith makes the morning show tolerable and McDowell carries Bob Sturm's weight. Mike Rhyner, Corby Davidson, and the rest suck as far as I'm concerned; particularly Davidson who is a no talent cretin. And Danny Balis is nothing more than a Gary Dell'Abate (babbabooey) clone.

• The other day they were bagging on a San Antonio station ripping off some of their bits/lingo. This is different how???

• Ernie listen to some of the 'promos' on ESPN or The Fan. And it's the same tired delivery of the same tired lines. I'll give KTCK credit for ripping off a "brilliant" add campiagn, and making it their own (enough that a competitor (Richie) even found it entertaining enough to blog about)

• @Jesse - All I have to say is that it's fun to do bad things. Corby will always have my respect for letting Hansen cut his mane. Mike loves talking Rangers baseball more than anyone willing to listen to him do it, but he's like your father-in-law. You learn to humor him. Best wishes to Danny.

• The Musers and The Hardline are the best shows on The Ticket. Even though I can't listen to the Ticket from 10am-2:50 (Norm's lips smacks and Bad Radio being truly what their name implies). It's still better than any other shows on locally during that time.

• Jesse it is a good thing that you're wrong. BaD Radio is the best show on the station ainec.

• The Hardline is by far the worst show on the ticket. It truly is tired, and Corby is annoying. Even though I never really liked Greggo, when he was gone the show died. It's now a Fartform of crap.

• @manny mann All I have to say is, what took you so long? I read P1s on here telling people to let it go that Greggo is gone from The Ticket. Maybe The Ticket should let it go. Yesterday the Musers had fake Greggo as a dog having problems since he switched his meds.

• BaD Radio is by far the weakest of the 4 Ticket weekday shows - and it is head and shoulders better than any shows on the other two sports stations. Mike & Mike don't count because they're national.

• It's no secret that Danny Balis and the employees of the Observer are good friends. Would the Observer ever give his album a bad review??? HELL NO!!

• Since we're giving opinions on the Ticket, I've never been a Corby hater, but lately the guy is starting rub me the wrong way with his pompousness. He is a mere 4 years older than me and had no idea what Transformers or GI Joe were yet ripped them like they were Mike Vick when their admittedly awful movies came out. Then, the guy has absolutely no clue that Wal-mart is open 24/7. Really? I know he grew up in Interlocken but the guy is so far removed from the 'common man' it's pitiful. And Rhyner constantly talking baseball 8 out of 10 segments gets tiring. At least Ba4 radio and the Musers are still good.
