RIP: VOTS
I know the initial reaction will be to storm 105.3 The Fan's CBS-fortified castle with pitchforks and torches. But you shouldn't be surprised at this move. Are you?
Think about it. Why would The Fan allow Jones to have a Ticket host voicing his new stadium's games in the first year of a deal with it as the team's new flagship radio station?
Dunham: "Fans, remember to tune in to 105.3 The Fan's post-game show on the way home."
Awkward. For The Fan. And Dunham.
Even though it had to happen, doesn't mean Dunham won't be missed.
Replacing the legendary Murphy Martin, Dunham had been the in-stadium voice of the Cowboys since 1999. (Hmm, the Cowboys never won a playoff game during his regime. Coincidence?). Though the P.A. would cleverly sneak in Ticket drops during the game, Dunham wasn't Humble Billy Hayes over-the-top enthusiastic.
He would, however, often channel old NFL Films voice John Facenda before a big play:
"Thuuuuud and three!"
Bottom line: He was good. But now he's gone.
I'll effort to get the name of his replacement - which will also be the voice of Super Bowl XLV. But until then, who would you like to hear as the new voice of Cowboys Stadium?
For the record, I don't think CBS will consider Russ Martin.

Wasn't that to be assumed when the Cowboys left the ticket. Jerry learned his lesson with Hansen and he will be in control of whoever is in the booth from now on.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 11:09AMAt the rate things are going, it won't be anyone actually broadcasting on 105.3, because the station will go to all network feed all day by the time football season rolls around.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 11:29AMAckward for Dunham to mention 105.3 FM? I'm sure it is very difficult for CBS front office everytime Letterman invites someone from NBC, FOX, ABC or for O'Brien to invite someone from FOX, ABC or CBS... you get the drift. Whitt your comment is naive.
This is an obvious and clear move by the failing Fan to stick it to The Ticket and Jerry not knowing any better.
Richie, you said last week Jerry was a shrewd businessman, and your right. But he is also a wild catter, a risk taker. I've heard him say on several occasions he has drilled his share of empty wells. My thought is that the Fan will not exist in its present form sooner rather than later. They may make the football season but will probably die not soon after. The Cowboys will be looking for a new radio home next season. This gamble for Jerry is gonna come up a dry hole.
As a season ticket holder both Texas Stadium and Cowboys Stadium, I will miss Gaa. He is not the reason I go to the games but he added to the experience. Its too bad that it has to be this way, but it won't matter soon cause the fan will be a different format soon anyway.
As for replacement, Chuck Morgan, Kevin McCarthy or wildcard...Greego.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 11:39AMCowboys, Mavs, Rangers season ticket holder here. I heard from some people at the ballpark that abpit a year ago Morgan turned down an offer from the makers of the new scoreboard to be part of the new stadium stating that he was baseball guy. I doubt he would leave the Rangers, but you never know.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:01PMI think the fake Greggo should get the gig.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:05PMAh, but you forget Richie, Jub-Jub was VOTS when KLUV carried Cowboys games. And he did promo the post-game show on another station. And the sky did not fall.
None other than Dallas radio legend Ron Chapman didn't think it odd. (Now THERE's someone who might have a chance to make The Fan relevant.)
If my memory serves me right, Dale Hanson was WFAA's sports guy while also serving as Cowboys radio analyst while the Boys were broadcast on KRLD -- which was a sister property of KDFW TV. There was no conflict there.
George said The Fan was mentioned as the reason why he's out -- and that the Cowboys and Jones treated him wonderfully.
I don't see how it's anything other than The Fan's management desperately trying to have SOME sort of power/control over The Ticket, as slight as it might be.
I would suggest The Fan wonks worry less about synergy, cross-marketing, game-day promos and other cliche buzzwords and more about the content of your station.
Perhaps The Fan will try to make one of its on-air "talents?" the next Voice of Jonestown Coliseum -- unfortunately, The Fan is running out of people who can bring the heat.
Let's just hope it's not Humble Billy.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:05PMGeorge had those duties prior to the Ticket broadcasting the games. I don't know if there is a necessary connection. Was it uncomfortable for him to tell people to listen to the postgame show on KVIL? I see Jones going more with a free agent or a TV guy than someone related to the FAN.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:06PMMost of George's tenure was during the KLUV broadcast days. How does the PA voice have anything to do with the Radio broadcast?
I say this is a chickenshit move by the Fan... not the first and not the last.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:09PMnobody thinks jerry isn't enamoured with the way mark cuban changed the atmoshpere in all nba arenas? my guess is jerry wants something cutting edge, different, innovative. maybe throw a boatload of cash at john madden, since the folks in the stadium will be watching the game on that giant tv anyways.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:09PMHad a friend tell me that The Fan was livid that Mike Rhyner appeared on Rangers television the other night.
On Chuck Morgan, he wears a lot of other hats for the Rangers other than just the PA announcer. Morgan has been a long time idea man for the Rangers and now works for his friend Nolan, I doubt he would leave the Rangers just to do the Cowboys PA.
But he would had to the Cowboys game presentation that really needs some improvement. Remember the horrible ceremony that closed down the old stadium?
David, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Cowboys and Rangers only have 1 conflict this season. And, Josh Lewin manages to pull off double duty, in another state no less. I think Chuck would at least consider it if offered as a secondary job.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:16PMTravis hit it. Maybe not Humble Billy, but look out for Humble Billy light.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:18PMRW, my vote would be for the Cowboys to go with Chuck Morgan. But my guess is it will be someone from The Fan.
If he wants it done right, with some personality and class, he should call Chuck Morgan right now and let him also have a say in the way a football game is presented.
I heard that Morgan did do a Chiefs game while he was in Kansas City. And he did Vanderbilt football announcing during his time in Nashville.
Gordon Keith's show was cancelled, right?
Perfect opportunity for him.
No,seriously. James Earl Jones would be awesome. Unlikely, but awesome.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:32PMAh Richie, clueless as ever...
"Awkward. For The Fan. And Dunham"
Is it awkward for Jeff K when he promotes radio stations that he doesn't work for during Stars games? So why is it so awkward for Dunham, who managed to do it sans-awkwardness during 7 of his 10 years as "VOTS".
Awkward for the Fan? Do you really think that your average stadium-goer even has a clue who that booming voice on the PA is? And knows where that persons dayjob is? (Here's a hint- NO!. Look at the actual % of the metroplex that actually listens to KTCK. It ain't that big.)
But you think it's going to be awkward for the Fan if they have someone, (who the vast majority of the game attendees doesn't even know who that voice is)who works for a competitor promoting their pre/post game shows and coverage?
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:41PM
pdetx, morgan is not like josh lewin from what i know about him. morgan logs a lot more hours at the ballpark than lewin does. he turned down an all night satellite country radio show before the rangers season started because nolan thought it would take away from what he does for the rangers. i am not saying its not possible, but morgan is not going to do anything to upset nolan. nolan and morgan are a two man team on the rubber chicken circuit.
richie, what's your thought on who should do the pa for the greatest franchise in sports? morgan would be good.
woulda been funny to hear dunham read copy like 'to talk about this game tomorrow, turn into your sportstalk leader in the metroplex 105-3 the fan'
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:46PMdavid, I hear what your saying. We are only talking about 10 Sunday's/Monday's, (really 8 if you don't do preseason) If they are wanting some one who is not a media person for another station, he would be ideal in that regard. Plus, I can't think of any one else clasier or better at a game presentation. But, ultimatly I'm sure he would not do it if Nolan said no.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:50PMThere is a rumor going that the new stadium voice will be Computer from Three 6 Mafia. Can you imagine the confusion?
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 12:54PMIt's all about karma. Tuesday morning George, Junior and Gordo made fun of Mike Snyder leaving the 10 p.m. news cast then the next day George looses his VOTS job. The same job George was told was secure by stadium officials after the switch to The Fan.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:06PMMy vote is for Sam the Mailman (former 105.3 employee). That would be some funny shit to hear him over the PA.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:06PMThis is BY FAR Jerry's worst personnel move ever!
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:11PMSince he didn't get the Detroit job, how about Avery Johnson? I know he isn't a football man, but can't you just hear him saying "Touchdown"
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:13PMHey The Fail just renewed Michael irving. Maybe they can have him making the forth and four calls next season.
The Fail does not have anyone in the line up that is a sure bet employee for next season that can enunciate the English language clearly. I would think Kevin McCarthy would be a good choice. He isn't doing much these days and I doubt his car show would interfere.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:20PM@Roadside Couch:
"Hey The Fail just renewed Michael irving."
Two things about that statement:
1. "The Fail" aka The Fan, did not renew "Michael irving". Michael Irvin is on ESPN, not the Fan.
2. Who is "Michael irving"?
I demand a daily blog update on every Ticket personality. These guys are so important to the Metroplex we need to know what they are up to at all times.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:31PMJimmy Christopher could do it. He was the PA at the Ballpark the year Chuck Morgan was in Kansas City
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:47PMKije Ramsey,
Any blowhard who goes on the air and says -- I'm paraphrasing -- "of course, you're aware of my many philanthropies" like Snyder did, deserves to be made fun of.
I understand his desire to put on a good face while accepting a demotion, but alerting people to the fact that he's a philanthropist shows just how out of touch Snyder is to the people on the other side of the camera. (And probably those at NBC5 who prepare is copy, make up his face and put up with his shallow bravado.
Haven't seen an anchor exhibit that much self-importance since Ted Baxter. Stay classy, Minneapolis.
My guess is that Dunham will enjoy kicking back at his palatial Argyle estate to watch the 'Boys on a huge screen every Sunday -- until he misses out on being the in-house voice during the Super Bowl at Jonestown.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:49PMTo those of you mentioning that Cannonball Jub Jub did PA before The Ticket got the Cowboys gig, which is true, and are thus wondering why it would be a conflict for him to continue - I think it's because KLUV or KVIL are not "direct" competitors of The Ticket during their normal broadcasting hours. Many sports fans weren't going to listen to KVIL or KLUV outside of games anyway, so they probably didn't care.
And also, I'm sure The Fan wanting to stick it to The Ticket is also a factor as some mentioned. And also the stupid "synergy" concept, as I'm sure The Fan thinks they can drive more ears to their station through obnoxious promotion at the stadium. Yeah, right.
[said in a Mike Snyder voice]: I love you Jub.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:52PMJust reading between the lines here, ...but I think your saying Dunham is going to 105.3 The Fan?
If so, you may be right that the tickets days are numbered.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 1:55PMRichie, you're good at talking about all the stations, why don't you interview for the job?
My 2nd pick would be Rhyner, since he has some play by play experience now:
http://www.theunticket.com/fake-mike-rhyner-does-play-by-play/
3rd would be with Jerusalem Jackson, fake Greggo.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 2:18PM@JC
From what I've listened to, I wouldn't say the Fan is in direct competition with the Ticket.
@Derrick
Good point. I should've probably said that their intention is to be a direct competitor.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 2:39PMThe first time Morgan makes the announcement telling the kids not to jar, he is out with Jub Jub.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 2:50PMOohhh.....could this reflect possible cracks in The Ticket's foundation and an end to its dominance of local sports talk...or, dare I say, even a potential "Last Supper" for the little Ticket?!?!?!?!?
The fan really does seem more and more pathetic with each passing day. CBS Radio is the fat kid with money who has to buy his way onto the team..... Couldn't they have found something else to waste their money on?
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 3:27PMOh, and I'd like to nominate Big Tex to do PA duties.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 3:48PM@Dap the Nub: Just drives you nuts doesn't it? Sorry, dude, but for the millionth time I was only echoing what Ticket staffers were telling me about a "Last Supper." Their words, not mine. You know what else? They referred to the birthday anniversary trips down memory lane and the birthday party at House of Blues as "Rhyner's farwell tour." But go ahead and ignore/misconstrue that for the purposes of making me public enemy No. 1. Though your revisionist history is inaccurate, your stubborness is commendable.
@JC: Thank you for bringing common sense to the party. KVIL nor KLUV were direct competitors to The Ticket. I know you guys are loyal, but come on. You buy a new car and you're going to let the former owner keep driving it? The Fan does some nutty stuff I know, but having one of its own voices be the P.A. guy at the new stadium of their new team is a no-brainer. If The Ticket gets the Cowboys back in two years, think they won't put one of their guys back behind the mike? It's the way it works. It's one of the perks of being the flagship station. Like I said, I thought George was really good at it. But you guys really don't see that?
@MK2700: Amen.
@Wilonsky's Bloody Anus: Even a consistently clueless guy like me can see that you're smarter than that. You really don't think Dale Hansen introing Mike Doocy's Sports Sunday would be awkward?
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 4:10PMI always thought his voiced sucked. Sounded like he had water in the back of his throat. Or something.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 4:13PMlol @MK2700... no shit!
I guess the forums at Bob and Dan are boring so they need another avenue to discuss all things Ticket.
After reading a bunch of posts, it does make sense, like someone said, how uncomfortable would it be for Jub to tell people every 30 minutes to make sure to listen to 105.3 the Fan. I'm sure it was fairly understandable to Jub, and when the Fan got the Cowboys, he knew it might happen.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 4:31PMWonder why KRLD didn't nix The Ticket's Jimmy Christopher when Rangers hired him to do in-stadium PA that one season? (Insert Jimmy jokes here.)
Can I get a list of the stations who are and are not directly in competition with The Ticket?
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 4:34PMA big fan of Captain America/international chirp_chirp/Jaa, but one has to ask: He's been the VOTS for 12 years, right? When was the last time the Cowboys won a playoff game? 13 years ago, right?
Coincidence? Or did the fake mick jagger sell the soul of the Cowboys to the devil the day he stabbed Murphy Martin in the back?
Yeah Me!!!!!!!!
As always, remember: "L.S." (I am thinking of having T-shirts, bumber stickers and bracelets made up).
Play with it,
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 4:41PMRichie: "The Fan does some nutty stuff I know, but having one of its own voices be the P.A. guy at the new stadium of their new team is a no-brainer."
So that settles it, the new PA guy will be... Pete Stein.
Richie, Jerry commented last year that the NFL controls the voice for the Super Bowl, it was not Jerry's decision, so, the new voice will not be the VOTS
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 5:17PMHere's a basic, possibly stupid question. How do the team-radio contracts work? I can make a few guesses but literally know nothing. Does the team play the radio station for broadcast and take most of the ad revenue? Do the radio station pay the team a flat fee or percentage of ads?
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 5:52PMMike-
I've got it on what I consider good authority (people who work there and are in position to know) that the Ticket's deal involved no money and Jerry controlled ALL the game inventory.
In the past, Jerry got X million dollars (approx 8mil IIRC) from KVIL/KLUV as rights fees, and THEY sold all the spots, and kept all that money. 3 years ago CBS wouldn't cough up those rights fees any longer, and the team ended up at KTCK. Jerry created "Blue Star Media" which sold the all his inventory, pre-season TV, radio, in stadium signange, print (Dallas Cowboy weekly, programs) etc. The dreaded "synergy" of generic buisnessspeak, as one sales rep could call on Miller Lite, rather than having one person selling them radio, one person dealing with signange, one with TV, etc...
Hope that helps-
And Richie- if naming the VO guy is a perk of being the flagship station, how did Chapman, no slouch when it comes to perks, manage to let Dunham do it for years when they had teh games at KVIL/KLUV?
And even if we do go with your idea that is one of the perks of being flagship, who they going to name? Jagger? Newey?
You don't think it'll be awkward for Newey to be intro'ing Babe?
Seriously, if they had someone in mind to replace him, I could understand this a little more. But it looks like they've blown out a competent guy for who? And for what reason, just because the job is now a perk, a sweetner thrown in to help seal a deal?
I don't see them using Jagger, Newy probably has enough conflicts with a TV schedule, so we're left with Salisbury.
Or a bunch of spare, ho-hum, generic guys.
So who they going to use? One of Newy's freinds? Dan O'Malley? YOU? Or one of KRLD/Fan's news anchors. Of course, if those news anchors were that good, they'd probably be doing something besides 45 seconds of sports on 2 stations that can't sniff the top 20 of adults 25-54...
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 9:20PMOk, so Jerry got CBS to pony up some bucks to carry the games and it was 8 million last time around and the Ticket got them for free? Hmm, if that is so then how much is having the best ratings worth? Is that how this game is played? Is it the same in college ball? Baylor got paid by WBAP to carry their games? Not the same game? How is Baylor gonna get anybody to give them a plug nickel for that crap they were rolling out there until the last couple of years. How is Texas consigned to 660AM and on WOAI, their flagship, they get bumped by the Spurs?
Those are the questions I should have asked RW back when he asked.
funny Dunham was slaming mike snyder pAron and then he gets shit canned...Im Just Saying
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 10:30PMThe Fan is going right down the tube anyway. Their recent onlineup changes left them even more dismal then they were when they first came on the air. Kevin Scott was the only one worth listening to. Greg Hill was hired only because he was black and an ex local athlete. His problem is the same for most blacks that are put on the air. They butchered the english language, sound like they have mush in their mouths and the color of their skin dictates their opinions. Ben and Skin were tolerable but their egos got in the way of good programming. Now they are left with Sean Cheesburger who is in love with himself, Newy the racist and a bunch of spares. The morning drive people are the three stooges. So Jerry Jones screwed up again but why doesn't that surprise me.
Posted On: Thursday, Jul. 9 2009 @ 10:37PMIt does not make sense that ANY OF YOU are talking about Jub having to make "105.3" or "The Fan" references. THAT NEVER HAPPENS AT A COWBOY GAME BY THE PA ANNOUNCER!!! Not every 30 minutes - Not every hour - Not ever!!!
The fact is that Jerry got his money. The Ticket wasn't willing to pay out what he wanted - and CBS Radio and The Fan were. Apparently he doesn't care about promoting his Boys by having them on a station w/ actual listeners and ratings - but, rather - as usual - It's all about the money w/ Jerry. He's an idiot for not standing by someone who has done an excellent job for 12 years, and giving in to a station run by a man who's last name is part of an excrement and who knows all about "Vegas Radio" but doesn't know DFW at all - Hey, Gavin! You're in a bigger market now - Just so you know. And, by the way - This is TEXAS. We have standards.
How is The Ticket "on it's way out" when you can add ESPN's ratings and The Fan's ratings and still not total The Ticket's ratings? Some of you people amaze me at your random statements. Deal w/ facts.
The fact is that "Humble Billy" cannot walk into Cowboy Stadium and trick anything up. The NFL won't allow it. This isn't the NBA - This is an organization that aspires to have a stick up it's butt.
In conclusion - Jones is a whore, The Fan is a joke - and, if The Ticket does "1310 Theater" again - I'm there. I'd rather listen to Jub laughing at Gordo or Rhynes anyway. I won't be at the games anymore. I'd watch the games w/ them in the background any day!!!
From what I've been told - the ratings for radio games are slim to nothing anyway.
Congratulations to The Fan - That's really quite a strategic move. And, if one of the personalities that you decide to keep does end up doing the PA gig - At least you'd have a captive audience for once.
Whatever!!!
:)
@cabana
YIKES! make sure you take some tylenol this morning. looks like you were drunk posting again at 3AM last night.
pirate.
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 10 2009 @ 8:10AMMy main complaint is that George doing PA was completely a side job, and never had anything to do with the Ticket until a few years ago when they signed on to carry games.
As George said a few days ago, he would listen to the KLUV postgame on his drives home during those years.
In my opinion, the PA job and radio broadcast are COMPLETELY independent of each other.
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 10 2009 @ 8:38AMWith the situation concerning Sir Jubbs Alot, Its a total loss for the fans, but one I can see being tied to the teams current status on The Fan. More then likely, its going to be a either on-air talent from 105.3 or some random guy Jerry meets at Ojedas during his lunch/dinner "meetings" we all know he takes with his pretty secretarial pool members ;)
Jubjub can always fall back on UNT gameday announcing, as he's alumni...
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 10 2009 @ 9:01AMJimmy- "say hello to Mick and Keith for us....."
Bill Wyman- "alright."
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 10 2009 @ 10:37AM@ Pirate -
I freakin' wish!!!
Did I not make sense?
Oops! And, I do have a correction: Rarely Jub did bring up the post-game show. The Cincinatti game that we could have lost after flat-lining - When we beat the Colts and it was their first lost all season... When it was something like that.
I hate being wrong - but, more than that - hate not correcting myself. But, I stand by the fact that it wasn't every 30 freakin' minutes!
Smiles!
:)
Cabana,
Wonder why George mentioned having to promo KLUV's postgame shows when he was doing PA?
Guess Jub is losing it.
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 10 2009 @ 10:47AMTimbo:
I have never noticed Jub promoting the shows. But, my friend, let's call him "former season ticket holder" - said he did, but it was rare.
I'll go back and listen to what Jub said Wed on BaD. I assume that's what you're referring to.
Dane:
I do like Dan O'Malley - but, I keep wondering "why now?" Because he's run out of people and has to use actual talent? Wish he was on w/ Scott. Hill is the one that sucked.
:)
Cabana,
Either way, whether Jub did not have to promo postgame show in stadium, or if season ticket holders didn't notice goes to the point that "who" does PA and what they say should be of no worry to the radio rights holder...unless they're looking for any desperate ounce of power and control over KTCK.
And if they aren't, the Fan has created a huge perception problem that's going to negatively affect Ticket fans who might have been open to wandering to their signal.
I can see Jub trying to be classy on Cowboys Mondays and not mentioning PA job, but Gordo and others are going to bring it up, further rallying Ticketheads against The Fan.
Just another bad idea.
@anonymous: "who" does PA and what they say should be of no worry to the radio rights holder...unless they're looking for any desperate ounce of power and control over KTCK.
Yep, reeks of desperation. Of course if you were CBS, and doing as poorly as KRLD-FM is in the ratings, you'd probably be desperate too.
Last time I looked, The Fan was approx. 20th in the sports-talk target demo of Men 25-54. While KTCK is #1 or #2.
And to put 20th into perspective, not only are theygetting their asses handed to them by the obvious suspects (KTCK and ESPN), but also by a bunch of music stations (KZPS, Jack, Edge, Eagle, etc) by a bunch of talk stations (WBAP, KLIF, etc). But count those up. That's only like 8 other stations. Which means they're also getting beat by a couple of the hispanic stations in town, and a couple of the urban stations in town. But count those up. 8+3+3=14. Which means that not only is KRLD getting beat in their target demo by their competitors, but by most of the talk stations in town, and by most of the music stations in town...
Heck, you've got 'chick' stations like KVIL and KDMX that are probably doing better in Men 25-54 than KRLD-FM.
But Richie doesn't want to mention that, does he? Funny what getting freelance money does to your journalistic objectivity. He won't tell you they're failing, theyre 'reloading", or "relaunching".

I was just commenting on Whitt and others saying that it would be awkward for Jub to have to promote a post-game show. It doesn't happen that often. And, referring to what you said - Jub is classy. He made fun of it on Wednesday - about the gig going to someone on The Fan. Are you implying that Gordo is anything less than professional? (Hold on... Can't stop laughing... Need air...).
If Jub had to promote the post-game show airing on the flagship station, well, - Dunham is a professional. Nothing left to say there.
Spittle - You are a little, little man. I used to feel sorry for you - but, now I wish Russ Martin had jacked w/ you more. Keep writing him those checks! Looking forward to your next format change and please keep O'Malley.
:)
To get away from the fanboy talk and address the question my choice would be Brian Estridge. He has a great voice for a PA guy with plenty of football knowledge. Don't think there would be any conflicts with TCU games.
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 10 2009 @ 1:30PMGet that guy that works the Stars games. Big booming voice--reminiscent of Murphy Martin.
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 10 2009 @ 4:36PMWhat is "THE FAN?"
All I've ever heard of it is what hits it.
Another one of Jerry Jone's stupid decision in hiring The Fan. He is paying that inept station a boat load of money compared to what he was paying the Ticket. Keep making those moves Jerry and your business decisions will be compared to your GM decision which we all know are the worst in the league. I just wish Jerry would find a mistress like Steve McNairs. Only then will the Cowboys get back to respectability on the field and win a playoff game. Jones has single handily destroyed the Boys.
Posted On: Friday, Jul. 10 2009 @ 7:27PM @Timbo, chill dude. I know Snyder's a blowhard but they might show a little class when someone gets demoted, especially these days. George reported his losing the VOTS job on BaDD Radio by saying the Cowboy Org. and Jerry treated me well. Then he takes a indirect shot a Jerry by saying he checked with stadium officials after the Cowboys switch to The Fan and they told him he had the job for the up coming season.
I'm a Ticket P1 but sometimes I wonder why the host on The Ticket get their panties in a wad when someone takes a shot at them. They have no problems taking shots at others in this market. Like Ben and Skin and K-Scott when they lost their jobs and their supposedly friends with those guys.
They also have no problem talking about what athletes make but when asked about what they make their butt holes get so tight they could crap a diamond.
Did anyone mention Dave Barnett as the new VOTS?
I know it's off topic but I can't get my brain wrapped around how 'scott' got that George was moving to the Fan from anything written here. Sometimes it just boggles the mind...
