Rangers Win Game, Lose Potential Owner?

Getting cold feet?
Talked yesterday afternoon to David McDavid , he of the best odds to buy the Texas Rangers from Tom Hicks. Nothing definitive, but the auto tycoon has cooled slightly on the idea of owning our baseball team to the point where he said he is - for now - "leaning against it."

McDavid also echoed team president Nolan Ryan's stance from last week: That any change-of-ownership won't happen until after this season. So plenty time - fingers crossed - for him to change his mind.

While the Rangers tip-toed toward losing a potential owner, they jumped back into a first-place tie in the AL West with an 8-5 victory over the Angels last night.

Josh Hamilton had three more hits. Derek Holland was as good as he's been as a Ranger. Darren O'Day continues to be the acquisition of the year. C.J. Wilson continued morphing into Sandy Koufax. And Texas produced a six-run 5th inning after starting with two outs and the bases empty.

Even better news: At Class AAA Oklahoma last night a certain first third baseman went 3 for 4 with a single, double and triple. Goes by the name of Chris Davis. He's 4 for 8 since being sent to the minors with nary a strikeout.
