Sean Avery Gets 6 Games for Sloppy Seconds

• so your basic Addison douchebag would be suspended by the NHL? I thought hockey was the 'tough' and 'manly' sport. Wusses.

• I'm of two minds about it. At first, I thought his comment was in response to a question. I later learned that he volunteered it, unasked. It was rather crude and unnecessary of him to say it. I think a fine would have been more appropriate. I'm also irritated that he was suspended for 6 games as I have him on my Fantasy Hockey Roster.

• a 6 game suspension for THAT? is Gary Bettman tapping that ass too?

• Didn't the league put out an edict this year that they wanted to cut down on the personal insults, on and off the ice. He got what he deserved.

• Don't forget Liverpool... Hicks seems to have fun messing with them. I'm not so sure Avery will play again for the Stars anyway. Six games seems pretty harsh, and while it would take an idiot not to understand what he meant in those comments, it's not like he even used profanity, mentioned any specific sexual act, or even said the word 'sex'... I hear the microphone pick up way more offensive comments during the course of the game. I know those things aren't directed at the media like Avery's, but what kind of standard does that set? Are 10-15 game suspensions going to be thrown down when a player actually says something with some serious offense?

• Does anyone really care about hockey here? It's just a corporate expense account ploy and something for Mr Hicks to screw up while the Rangers are on hiatus. Hey, aren't the Rangers W's sloppy seconds? Maybe that's why Big Tom was so upset by the comment.

• OF COURSE NOT! This is a league that allows full on boxing matches in the middle of play and yet they suspended someone for a comment like that. He wasn't criticizing the NHL, Refs, or even Canada for that matter. It is ridiculous that he has to serve this suspension. If anything this was more of a publicity stunt for the NHL to get some much needed attention to the league. Any publicity is good publicity right? I'm sure that Avery's return from his suspension will be one of the most watched NHL games this year. P.S. Enjoyed your interview last night on ESPN 103.3. Keep it uP!
