Stuff That Ain't Really Sports Stuff

Election Day ... Serenity?

Plenty of good seats available.

Been watching some CNN today and was a tad alarmed by the headlines:

“Problems at polling stations!”

“Record voter turnout!”

“New York’s 'Naked Cowboy' endorses McCain!”

Frightening stuff. So I scurried down to my local polling place at McKinney’s Valley Creek Elementary School and found …

No one. An absolute ghost town.

Swear, I was the only voter in the entire cafeteria. The whole process upon which our country is founded took me, oh, 1 minute, 57 seconds. Or, about 1/10th the time I waited in the Taco Bell drive-thru on the way home.

I don’t know if it was all the early voters (party poopers) or merely the assumption that Texas will remain red until it’s dead (party poopers). Whatever, it was sort of a letdown, honestly. Expecting a political frenzy, I instead got all the ambience of an Amish library.

Too early for me to project a winner but from the voters I polled on site, Obama held a slight 1-0 edge over McCain.

Voting process going as swimmingly for you guys? – Richie Whitt

i always vote early, some of us are chained to a desk for a living and can't wander through the voting place whenever the mood strikes, as some others might. altho, i do seem to find time to post on a blog, or two, here and there. anyway, you should join us in the uptown/oak lawn area, much blue-er down here, including an awesome congressional representative in eddie bernice johnson.

I voted early in McKinney one day after work. Had to wait in line about 10 minutes.

scott says:

Four people at my polling place this AM during prime time 8:20AM. The process was very slow though as an 85 year old lady had to look up my name on sheet A, sign hers next to mine, stamp it and then start that process all over on another piece of paper which I also had to sign,...and then she stamped it and initialed it. I blame that 'over-process' on Al Gore and the Democratic attorneys who sued everyone in sight for the good sense to vote Bush in 2004 in Florida.

Anyway I digress,...made me think of all the other inefficiencies that will permeate our lives when the Democrats control everything for the next 4 years during the conclusion of this Clinton Depression were going through.

But, I'm open minded about everything.

I got to my polling place 15 minutes before it opened in Heath for god's sake and there was a longer line... All in all took about 15 minutes in and out, but when I left the line had gotten much longer.
