Roy Williams’ Injury: Blessing or Barrier?

Like it or not, the Cowboys will miss this guy. Won't they?

Other than Scott, this corner of the blogdom is full of Roy Williams bashers. I assume his fractured forearm will be met with an unprecedented joy considering it means the absence of a Pro Bowl* player for about a month.

The Cowboys say they will simply plug in Patrick Watkins at strong safety. But here’s my question:

Why don’t they slide Anthony Henry to safety alongside Ken Hamlin and allow Pacman Jones and Terence Newman to play cornerback? That way you get your best four defensive backs on the field the majority of the game.

some of you people are dumb asses! The run defense has suffered since Roy got hurt n he has improved his pass defense alot! He's only got beat on one big play to philly and pacman also got beat!! And they gave up a special teams touchdown to the cards!
Scott, Please grab that nice warm glass of shut the hell up about fatass38. 84 yards rushing is what Green Bay wound up with. 204 yards total until about 4:30 left in the game until passing every play, which fatass38 would not have been in for any way. All, Roy has fewer tackles because teams are scheming run plays away from him. They would prefer to match him up with receivers as you all have stated. In the case of Watkins, he will defend the pass better...but If I'm Greenbay, I'm trying to figure out how to run at him. That will add 5+ yards to the play. Look for a worse run defense and a better pass defense is all I'm saying here without Roy. Name....., as usual your facts are way off which is why its difficult for you to 'get it'. Scott - you're comparing Williams to Sanders? Really? Through the young season so far, Sanders has 13 tackles, including 7 solo. Williams 6, 4 solo - 4 of those tackles were in the Philly game, by the way. Yes, you can argue, that's because he's not on the field as much. And why is that? Why do professional, experienced NFL coaches decide to take him off the field in passing situations? Because he can't cover, obviously. I'm not saying he's a BAD player. I'm just suggesting that he's limited, and the Cowboys are paying him a metric shit-ton of money.

Two words....Bob Sanders, .....strong safety Colts He is out for 4-6 weeks and when he is out, the opponents average 40+ more yards. If the Eagles ran for 40 more yards on Monday, Cowboys lose. Did any one else notice that when they pulled Roy out, the Eagles ran and usually for a 5+ yard gain? Now,...are there any more questions or drug related insane remarks??

Roy Williams better hope the defense is worse without him. If they're a better defense the next 6 weeks, then he might not be on the team next year.
You guys are correct. I guess since none of the teams we will play this season, post season and through the Superbowl will have any type of running game,....we can definitely do without Roy. He's just a luxury we don't need with these all pass, all the time teams. Special teams won't suffer either. Good call, fellas......I just amazed about why none of the 32 NFL teams haven't picked you guys up for a GM or coaching role? It boggles my mind. You guys are genius! I have come on here and clearly stated my position, called Scott out for being as dumb as Roy is bad and I for one for the first time in my life cheered when I heard a player got hurt. I wondered the same thing, but I think -- think -- the problem here is that neither Hamlin nor Henry is a natural SS. I understand that you're asking a very lanky Watkins to slide into that position, but it would probably (?) be a better fit than either of those other guys. Richie, have you/can you run Williams' salary cap money? How huge would the hit be if they traded or released him, assuming this dress rehearsal goes well enough to let someone else take over his duties? Is there any other team in the league dumb enough to take on his contract for, say, a 2nd or 3rd round pick? I'm looking at you, Oakland or Washington...
