Former Cowboy Frank Cornish Dead at 40

Categories: Dallas Cowboys
Rest in peace, No. 68.

Sobering news this afternoon as former Dallas Cowboy Frank Cornish was found dead last night in his Southlake home of an apparent heart attack.

Cornish, who would’ve been 41 next month, was just yesterday talking to former Cowboys about an upcoming mini-reunion. Players like Larry Brown, Nate Newton, Leon Lett, Michael Downs, Deion Sanders and Rocket Ismail – among others – convene every two months for drinks, dinner and fellowship. A source told me today that Cornish RSVP’d to the next gathering yesterday around 5 and that he talked to former Cowboy Tony Tolbert on the phone around 9.

His wife found him on the floor late last night.

Cornish, who these days was in the insurance business, started five games and won two Super Bowls while with Dallas ’92-’94. A UCLA alumn, he was close friends with quarterback Troy Aikman, who always kidded the center about his profuse sweating. -- Richie Whitt
