Please let this be the end to this Howard Stern wannabe. There could not be a more manufactured worthless show on any station. He had nothing until Howard was on the Eagle, he just spun records. Now he's duped a big portion of dumb asses in Dallas that he's relevant.

He already "helped" a girlfriend some 15 years ago when she "overdosed" on cocaine that allegedly was supplied by Russ.

DMN reports this happened at a store in Southlake.

Here's what I've found:

1. Russ apparently assaulted someone in a "retail store" sometime on Friday morning. The charge is assualt with a deadly weapon with bodily harm. I'm thinking the weapon is his gun, since he has a CHL. But bodily harm? Did he actually shoot somebody? Whoa.

2. Later on, according to some guy on a message board forum (search for russ martin arrest on google and just start clicking the forum links), Russ was at Larry North's gym, working out, when the police (and alledgedly the FBI) came in. Russ seemed to know what they were there for, and asked if they could go outside. The police said no and arrested him right there.

3. According to the Dallas Morning News (i think) story, the assault charge is apparently against his girlfriend, known as "Amy" on the show.

4. On another message board, some guy claimed to have e-mail Dan, who's on the show, asking if it was a bit. Dan said no, affirming that Russ WAS arrested, and that it's not a bit, but he couldn't give any more info. Of course, this might just be made up, but who knows.

5. As several people have pointed out, Russ was very cryptic on Thursday's show about his relationship with Amy. He said that he will know "after this weekend" if he was still going to go ahead with the marriage. Despite everyone on the show trying to get him to talk, he just said that we would all find out on Monday.

Okay, so there's several possibilities. One is that Russ really did assault Amy, with a gun or some sort of weapon, and hurt her. This may be related to the above, and they're going through relationship troubles. But I kinda doubt this. The news story said it happened in a retail store. Seriously? Russ just starts beating up on his woman in a store? Seems kinda far fetched.

There's also the possibility that this is all a bit. But c'mon people: Russ has pulled off bits ON THE AIR before, but I doubt that he would go to all this trouble just for a prank. Seriously, plastering his mug shot all over the news? Making people think he beat up, pistol-whipped, or shot his girlfriend?

I doubt that too. Sure, he's cool with the police and all, but I don't think they'd fake an arrest and go this far just for a bit. Considering that this is in the NEWS, this would have to be one hell of a hoax. And for what?

I'm not sure what to think. I guess we'll all see on Monday, if Russ is even back on then.

Guess we will know soon. If it was Amy, it could be that it happened the night before and the SPD found him at Larry North. I can't feel too sorry for Amy if she got a beat down because she chose to date a dipwad that would be the type to beat het in the first place... People often only blam the jerk that cheats or beats, but personal responsibility comed into play when you date the jerk in the first place. Plenty of good men out there. They are'nt bragging about slamming their girls face into a dashboard. His show was for the low IQ anyway....

Russ can pull some pranks, but please...this is real. The Southlake PD isn't going to play along to help Russ' ratings. I'll be listneing Monday, for sure.

I interned for Pugs and Kelly then after that Internship was over, I interned another internship for the JAGGER SHOW...Anyways on March 7th Jaggers Phone Screener Jantzen assaulted me in the break room of the KLLI studios. I called the police and filed a police report and guess what CBS did? They fired me . Because Jagger has a hard on for Jantzen and they covered the whole thing up and pointed the finger of blame at me...Im glad this happened . Every sponsor KLLI loses every cent they lose is a victory for me.

The pic says Keller PD because Southlake and Keller share a dispatch center. The warrant was taken to Keller by Southlake detectives to be entered in the state TCIC computer system.

I don't think its a bit, and $10k bail isn't much, so its highly unlikely there was a shooting. A bodily injury can be something as simple as a bruise.

Since Richie reported here that Russ assaulted his GF, and the Southlake pd is saying, per the star telegram that he assaulted someone at the gym (presumably not his gf), is the Observer libel?

Look, Russ martin uses his show to start rumors and debase and slander everbody who crosses him. Whether its a pool company that screwed him over or a political candidate he doesn't like he uses his show as his own personal crusade to perecute and crucify people. These blogs only allow people to give him what he dishes out. He complains about his $1000 electric bill or whines that he's not allowed to get 20 gallons of free gas at a station give away. Times are changing and people are hurting. They dont want to hear him bitch about how rich he is. Like a pack of wild dogs or frenzied sharks they come in for the kill. Its human nature at hard times. Maybe its time for him to be humble and change his show. Maybe reach out to people and not use them for his own pleasure. Sure he gives to the cops fund but he uses them as his own toys for his pranks and negates any good that he does. It is just getting old. I was angry at him and the show the last couple of months now I can see that he needs help and I feel sorry for him. If this is true I hope he can help himself. I know he has a lot of friends out there he can count on. The first step is knowing you got a problem. The second is asking for help. As much as I now dislike him I as a person would help him. We all need help in these times.

Parent company Belo just announced on channel 8 news that Russ would not be on the air today and a "Best Of" would be put on in his place. Oh oh. Like I said in my previous comment I hope that he makes some cool, logical level headed decisions and that we either as fans or not pray for him.

Russ Martin is a Dallas celebrity in that proud tradition. There are four classes of celebrities in the City That Killed Kennedy. Hot babes (Morgan Fairchild, Angie Harmon, Jessica Simpson), cocaine republicans (Russ Martin, and about half the Bush administration) and mobsters (Jack Ruby, Joseph Campisi,and Greeks too numerous to mention), and Zany Race-Baiters (Diane Ragsdale, John Wiley "Black Hole" Price). There are plenty of Howard Stern clones, but only Dallas could develop one who was a gun-toting neo-fascist dirtbag. Cities get the celebrities they deserve. Martin's ratings will probably go right through the roof now, and he will learn that the worse his behavior, the more marketable he becomes. Which in turn will lead to worse behavior, until he loses everything and ends up a tramp on the street. This is my prediction.

I can't wait till we get some real information on this. It's odd that "Best Of" would be airing in the morning, seeing as he's an afternoon show. It makes me sad that the "news" organizations in this town are as ill informed as we internet forum knuckleheads. I couldn't get the KLLI stream to work this morning.

The police do not have arrest warrants for an incident when responding to criminal activities in progress. It takes a several hours to obtain an arrest warrant. Must get witness, victim and perps statements regarding the incident. Must type up the warrant and then hunt down a judge to review the warrant to acertain if all facts are there to support the warrant and then sign it. Takes several hours.

Sputnik, do you listen to his show at all? The police are involved in many many of his bits. He's had his sidekick (JD) pulled over before and searched, almost arrested for having a fake bag of pot in his gunbag. That was all a bit. He had his program director (Gavin) pulled over 3 times by 3 different cities on the way to the airport for a Stanley Cup game. He probably is taking Friday and Monday off because him and Amy got married this weekend and it's just a bit so they can play out a 'public' wedding for listeners etc later on.

Detectives presented the case to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office for
review; the DA’s Intake Office accepted the case, a second degree felony, for filing.
Martin has no previous arrest history with the Southlake Police. Police records also
indicate no call history of assaults or disturbances at Martin’s residence.

So it's true - he did actually get into a physical altercation with his girlfriend. So much for those people who thought this was just another one of his famous bits. What a SORRY ASS LOSER! Hopefully his girlfriend will realize that this guy just ain't worth it and that no amount of apologies or excuses for his behavior (or medication), it is going to change the fact that he has a propensity for violence again women! A leopard doesn't change it's spots. So what's he going to do now to keep his job??? Let me guess - he's going to set up some type of foundation or do some volunteer work for battered women's shelters to try and smooth things over. Dallas Radio Host Arrested, Released From Jail
SOUTHLAKE (CBS 11 News / AP) ― Authorities say Dallas-area radio personality Russ Martin is out of jail after being arrested on an assault charge Friday.

Martin, 48, is host of the popular "Russ Martin Show" on KLLI-FM.

The arrest warrant affidavit says Martin and his fiancé got into a verbal altercation at his Southlake house that quickly turned violent.

Martin grabbed his 27-year-old fiancé "by the hair and threw her around a room in the house," according to the affidavit It also says Martin pulled out "chunks of hair" from his fiancé's head.

He then kicked her full force in the thigh leaving a bruise on the woman's thigh, it says. The affidavit says Martin then pulled out a pistol from behind his back and "intimidated" the woman with the gun.

It does not say that Martin pointed the gun at the woman.

The woman reported the incident on Saturday. Southlake police found bruises on her body that backed up her story. They also found missing hair from her head.

Martin was taken into custody Friday morning at the Larry North Fitness Center and charged with aggravated assault with bodily injuries with a deadly weapon.

A spokesman at the Keller Jail, where Southlake houses its arrestees, says Martin was released after posting a $10,000 bond. Martin has no previous arrest history with the Southlake Police.

Martin has worked in Dallas radio for 26 years, according to the station's Web site. He was not live on the air Monday morning.

I think she faked those injuries just to get money, not hard to pull out your own hair and put a bruise on your own thigh......What no black eyes or broken bones?......She was ready to leave and had no way to get any money besides faking this.....He will be cleared of all charges...

Well, after reading the police arrest warrant, it's look pretty cut and dry! Russ is a woman beater! Sorry to hear that, liked his show but can't listen to it anymore.

I have known Russ Martin since back in the days from when he DJ'd on the Eagle. Unfortunately, he has proven that he cannot handle the fame that has been given to him. For anyone that thinks this is a bit, you are WAY off. This IS real, the police warrant IS real. Mandy (aka Amy) is telling the truth. And this is NOT the first time this has happened. Russ thinks he can buy his way out of anything. That kind of thinking is why he is in the trouble he is in today. True, he has worked hard for the fame he has achieved. Unfortunately all the people he put down and stepped on to get to where he is today will come back to haunt him. Russ is old enough to be Mandy's father, and he likes it that way for a reason..to have full power over her. Russ is very power driven, hence all of his minions that surround him on his show....Have you ever noticed how his "boys" on the show laugh at every single thing he says?? It's so obvious that all of them are running scared of him, nobody wants to cross Russ Martin or they know they will never work in radio again. I promise you, there are some people in his circle or previously in his circle that are laughing as each second ticks on...this is known as KARMA. When it comes right down to it, he is just like you and I and needs to be treated as such. Will his money buy him out of this? Time will tell...Will CBS do the right thing and can him indefinitely? I am not condoning what the arrest warrant alledges russ did, but everyone has to remember that the arrest warrant was written according to only one party said happened during the incident. Everyone gets their day in court and for someone to believe one half of the involved individuals involved is not fair justice. This is not a lynching, but for justice to prevail no matter the outcome.

After reading the warrant. Sounds like he might have a little prob with the IRS too. I haven't listened to Russ in a couple of years now. I suggest you all buy Sirius and listen to Stern in the mornings and Bubba The Love Sponge in the afternoon. Bubba is where Russ got and gets all his stuff. Back when Bubba was in San Antonio in the 90's. And Russ has been copying him ever since. Trust me. Listen to Bubba on sirius. Much better than Russ. And with no bleps. And like 4-5 minute commercials. Not 10-15 minutes.

I think people are reading into this way too much. I read one post where someone questioned why Amy was still on Russ' friends list on MySpace. I do not think during a stressful time like this, either one of them would delete each other. I actually cried today when I read the arrest affidavit because I felt like someone had died. Yes, people have their stories of what he was like behind the scenes, only what we hear on the radio.

IF he is guilty, I hope he can get the help that he needs and Mandy will not take him back. If he is not guilty, then Mandy needs the help. I pray for all of those who are involved.

I'm not a RMS fan, but was once, and find this story interesting.

Would the Police take it this far and go along with the bit if there was a stipulation that Russ had to make some sort of donation towards a battered women's shelter when the gag was up? That's the only type of thing that I can think of where the police and everyone just might go along with the story. I just don't see a judge agreeing to that. Money talks though; a large chairatable donation......maybe, just maybe...

I, like Brandie, find it very odd that: Amy's top friends have "jail" pics of themselves, and Russ setting his myspace pic to the mug shot is almost like he's proud of what he's allegedly done. If you were a celebrity and you were supposedly accused of doing what he did; would you do that, or would you go into survival mode?

If my bestfriend got beaten, kicked, and hair pulled out....why on Earth would I go on myspace and post a picture of myself looking like the person that did it? I wouldn't even want to look at the picture let alone make light of it.

Don't read me wrong... I think some version of the events took place in the warrant, but I'm just trying to think of ways that this could possibly be a bit. The dude has numerous resources at his disposal to pull off a bit of this size. On the other the amount of information in the warrant and the detail in which the warrant goes in to makes me think it impossible to be a bit. The laptop, the recorder, hell the whole warrant.

All in all if it is a bit, IT IS NOT FUNNY unless some huge donation is coming. About 10% of me thinks a bit of this level could be pulled off.

The other 90% thinks that his name should never be mentioned in this town again, or any other as far as that matters.

speaking of the ticket...i've been listening the past couple of days to each timeslot, and I tried to be objective, but every show is god-awful...not to mention the signal sucks so bad you can't even hear it in downtown. Seriously, why do people listen to that station? I wasn't entertained at all. Am I listening on a bad week, or does it always try to put people to sleep?

Having read the redacted arrest warrant, I am so done with this little man and his show. I'm also done with his "sponsors" and will be calling them to voice my concern.

It's not that we're all pristine, and that none of us have ever lost control- it's that the rest of us don't spend all day, every day pretending to be better than everyone else while at the same being locked into a pathetic time-capsule of AC/DC and hair bands. What's particularly bad about this, apart from the obvious, is that here is a guy who spends his whole life sitting in judgement of everyone else. Now all of a sudden, he's being judged, and it sure sounds like the party is over for him. It's time for a fall. I personally hope it's a HARD fall. I'm a fan of the show and all, but in this case I'd like drama more than comedy, and man- even though this isn't happening on the air, this is GOOD RADIO. Seeing this asshole fall from grace, and watching how little everyone cares, how everyone just moves on- that's really going to be something. It's a story as old as "A Face in the Crowd."

I'm just curious as to why "Amy" or "Mandy" is not named in the news reports? We know that "Amy" was a fake name to protect her identity, why is she still being hidden from the public? If the arrest reports are public records, why has her name been redacted?

Well of course she doesn't want to be named. There's really no reason for Mandy to be named and no reason you should know it. She's protecting her idenity which - as the victim - she has the right to do. He's considered to be a high profile individual, at least in the Metroplex, so to keep her name out of the papers is almost a necessity. Innocent until proven guilty. There's two sides to every story but the cops saw how traumatized she was from this event. You have to feel sorry for her. Over the years, Russ has changed. You guys don't know him. He needs help and I wish him the best to get it. And I wish Mandy the best at getting through this.

I know a lot about this guy and suddenly feel the need to express. He has a knack for making people pissed off.

I find it interesting that, according to "Amy," Russ has hit her several times in the past, yet when he spoke to her on the phone and allegedly threatened her, SHE STAYED IN THE HOUSE. Why didn't she leave?

Sounds to me like a bitter chick made up a story to screw with the guy who dumped her and threw her gold-digging butt out of the mansion she was living in for free. She may well end up achieving her goal of messing up his life and his career, but what man in his right mind will ever want to get involved with her after this?

I always thought Russ was smarter than to get involved with trailer trash.

I listen to Russ and would like to think that most of his macho attitude is just a bit. He has a lot of money and has given Amy more than she could dream of ever having. What if, just what if, he decided not to marry her…this would be perfect revenge on him. Some women will go to great lenghts to destroy a man if she does not get what she wants. Think about it. Can he be that stupid to chance losing everything? Have you ever heard her go off on him in a voice mail? She can give just as good as she gets it sounds like. I am not saying he did not do it. If he did, he deserves whatever he gets. But, if he did not and she is destroying his life that is not right.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Here are some possible scenarios.

If it is a bit, there has to be some other angle we aren't seeing because why go to all this trouble of making people think he beats his fiance? What would be the upside? He is a master of the bit and often pulls out a completely different angle that no one suspected, so we shall see.

I sympathize for the most part with Russ Martin and his success as well as the crew he employs. None of us can judge the stress that goes on producing a successful show like RMS.

I grew up just 4 blocks from what Russ calls his first house in Pleasant Grove. Just check out Crusader and Kodiak in 75217 zip code – that will tell you the truth and my mom still lives there. This goofy looking kid went to high school with my ex-brother-in-law at W.W. Ssamuell High School.

All of this may seem like bullshit to the rest of you, but I grew up in Pleasant Grove, researched Russ Martin, and will assure you that all he says is true. Russ takes his life experiences and shares them with you while making a bit out of it.

Many might not be so understanding of a multi-millionaire celebrity living in a $5 million dollar house in South Lake, TX. However, those not understanding never grew up in the Pleasant Grove section of Dallas and probably never did anything from the ground up. All of us from Pleasant Grove did!

Russ built his career on his own and must be very protective of it. I understand that and comply with what he perceives as protecting it. I did the same and lost my despite the fact I did many good things for others.

Russ will not lose his career over a stupid incident of misunderstanding like I did. Let’s just let this go and continue to enjoy the entertainment.

I could be wrong about this but why don't I put in my two cents of conspiracy and espionage... I don't listen that much but I have heard him speak a few times of the cameras he has in his house... You enter that variable into the equation (if it is indeed true and they are placed in a relevant position) then that may be a very strong piece of evidence... I point back to his seemingly nonchanlant attitude and the fact that he and his counsel are so confident the charges will be dropped entirely... (of course that could be just the typical home-team rhetoric)... The whole tape recorder issue is also very sketchy in that it was only mentioned once and was not sought to be relevant to the situation as to include it in the apspect that it did provide evidence or even that it simply contained any recording at all... (but perhaps the detective or officer deemed the visual evidence enough to file a request for warrant of arrest and decided to leave the tape for further analysis at a later stage in the investigative process)...

this is not a bit. myfoxdfw.com posted his arrest warrant yesterday. it has since been removed from the site. in it, the complaint does list his fiamce and that tha attack was perpetrated at his home on Byron Nelson rd in Southlake. he allegedly was fighting over financial records that were to be sent to the IRS. when he did not get what he wanted he trashed "Amy's" laptop then started pulling out her hair and then kicked her repeatedly. the argument boiled over in the kitchen where he pulled a Glock 9mm handgun and held it at his side menacingly. "Amy" was then able to get out of the house when he unloaded and unchambered the gun. this info is available in the arrest warrant dated July 17,2008 exicuted on July 18,2008

Female fan - on page 1 of 4 of the arrest warrant - 3rd full paragraph first sentence, "My belief is based on the following facts and information: on July 14, 2008 Office Ric Salas was dispatched to take a report of family violence from a victim at the Southlake DPS West Facility."

That answer it for you? The alledged assault took place on the 14th, as did the initial report.

And to "Amy's dumb ass" you didn't read the story correctly; she allegedlly failed to follow up with an IRS agent that he sent a package too as THE SERVICE is conducting an audit and im sure they are. Amy is 27, not 47; I'm sure she has only paid taxes for a few years if at all, ever. How can Russ expect a 27 year old girl to understand the importance of following up with something like that. With all of the PSA that Russ does for various companies, i bet his tax returns look something like a Federal Tax Bill. Anyway, better to face the tax man then put your livelyhood in jeopardy by doing something like this. Good news Russ, you may not have to worry about Taxes next year. U DIG :)

He's not going to jail. If convected of anything, he may pay a fine, community service and anger mangment class with probation. Only way he'll get in any trouble about the gun is if it was captured on his security cameras and the police have a copy of the video. It hasn't been reported they searched his house for any evidence. The gun thing is a he said she said deal. No shots were fired. No jury or judge is going to convict him of that with out evidence of some type. He may get fired or loose listeners or advertisers, but no jail time.

Russ is fine and happy. Trey has temporally moved in with him to help as an assistant while dealing with the IRS problems. He has also several police officers living inhouse for security reasons since personal information along with pictures of his home and address are now public knowledge. The show may be back next Monday 08/04, if so Russ will aknowlege but not talk much or take any calls concerning his arrest until his legal issues are resolved. We are expecting protesters at the station from several Women's Shelter and The CFE (or Christians for Family Entertainment) a day or so after he goes back on the air. We are asking listeners to bear with the show since the usual content will be curtailed for the unseen future. The cannon will not be used on the protesters and please do not come to the station to confront them, as this may not play well in the media.

I'll say this. I'm not a Russ Martin fan and i do believe this probably happened but a "bit" of this nature could be pulled off, esp with someone as connected as Russ is. The Affidavit could absolutely be fake. As Russ has a buffet of lawyer friends, any one of them could have drafted same and then redacted the victims name. As far as his personal information being released in the Affidavit, any good researcher can obtain his personal information and he knows that. Secondly, most folks who read the paper or would take the time to read the Affidavit normally are to busy or too successful in their own lives to care about banging down Russ’s door to harass him or try to hang out, and he knows that also. I also find it strange that the South Lake Jail would make him put on that orange and white jumpsuit but i guess they would. I would think that his lawyer would have had him sprung within an hour so i can't imagine why they would have him change out of his clothes, etc. On my space, two of his myspace friends, and i think one of them plays in his band, has superimposed their faces on Russ's mug shot - that’s strange - why would two close friends of Russ's do that if they had knowledge that he had truly assaulted Amy??? Has anyone checked to see if the Affidavit has been filed with the court. (If that has happened then this is no “bit.” You don’t mess around with Judges and Court Houses.) As I have stated above, there are several things that point to a possible "hose job" or "bit" but I really doubt same. I suspect that Russ has a drug problem. I have seen various photos and it looks like Russ has really bulked up over the past year or so. Could he be taking roids??? I would suspect that Russ also drinks a lot and may take painkillers and we already know by the "best of" that he is on anti-depressants and such. Maybe he dabbles in cocaine and other street drugs - you put all of those possibilities together coupled with the fact that he lives an opulent "on tap" lifestyle and is worshiped by hordes of white trash minions- a formula to make anyone "snap" if you ask me. Here is some food for thought. (And, yes I have first hand experience in this matter). Your "mug" shot is taken at the time your booked. You still have your clothes. No pretty orange and white jump suit to wear.

I am not sure if this is a bit or not, but I do know that when he was arrested for his DWI, he was leaving a costume party. He was wearing a convict jumpsuit at the time.

I do believe when you are booked in, you are wearing your normal clothes, and not a jumpsuit.

This is not a bit people.

There are several reasons why they may issue you a jump suit in jail prior to your photo.

For instance if you were arrested naked or half naked. (wasnt he at a gym)

Or if you request to take a shower because your sweaty or dirty. They force you to put on the jump suit after showering.

Or if you are wearing something like a station or work logo on your clothing and you dont want to have it in your official mug shot you can request a prison jump suit. etc.

I will admit its a little odd to be doing his intake photo with a jump suit but its not impossible and all that uncommon giving the circumstances.

I know people that work at the station . I used to work at the station. Everybody I talk to , everybody I know has assured me this is not a bit.

For one the Police CANNOT decieve the public like this.

The major media outlets would not have broadcast the story had they suspected it was a bit. Thats how you lose credibility with your audience.

Hey Sputnik, the jumpsuit thing is pretty suspicious. They said that when they arrested him he didn't resist, and I would think they'd let him at least put on a T-Shirt before they put him in the car. It just doesn't add up, just like all the other things that don't quite fit in this whole thing. Again, it's a bit.

Well, I would almost believe it was a bit, but the affidavit has his address on it, and he was pretty cautious to not let people know where he lives. He would get mad if someone said the city, much less the exact address. If it were a bit, they would have blacked out the address just like they did "Amy"s name.

I'll grant that he could have asked not to be photographed in a particular shirt but I think that's a stretch. I find it interesting that you and a lot of others are having to shape the evidence to fit the belief that it is NOT a bit. There are so many other things that don't fit either.
