As I’m packing to leave town tonight I get a call from a radio industry source saying Live 105.3 drive-time host Russ Martin was arrested Friday morning in Southlake for assaulting his girlfriend.

Sure enough.

It's not really sportsy, and I'm not sure when or why I became a radio beat writer, but it didn’t feel right to have this knowledge and not share it. On the heels of The Ticket’s Hard Lie, Live 105.3 has had a rough itself week with two hosts – Pugs & Kelly – departing and one arrested.

Luv radio show.... Yeah I have heard of sound effects. Hell I have produced many of them. I know Russ does a lot of bits. But I know for a fact that he also sets off real fireworks around the station. One day when I was there Trey kept throwing chasers into Jaggers studio while he was on the air. Then we did that whole snake bit which I was also a part of . But really he does set off fireworks. And his cannon is real too. I was one of the fake crape myrdle protesters when he shot it off at us.

He's on today, but says he can't say anything because its pending. He said once its resolved, he will say a lot. From his tone of voice, I would guess that he didn't do anything and the charges were false, but we'll have to wait and see. If that is the case, then the whole bunch of you who have convicted him prior to hearing both sides are a bunch of douches.

Don't you people realize that the whole reason for the police foundation, and the donations to Operation Kindness, were for the very reason you are seeing now? It was a way to cover-up the stolen Stern radio personna, and add a bit of (fake) public service to white wash it all. The foundations were simply pre-payment for the sympathy votes needed now. I hope its a bit for 2 reasons: 1. I wouldn't want this to happen to "Amy" 2. To point out what a bunch of schmucks you all are that have convicted a US citizen before hearing both sides of the story or before his court date (if applicable). If he did it, he's truly an ass that deserves all the backlash that comes with it. Until that time, keep an open mind.

I didn't "love" his show, but I listened faithfully because I appreciated what he did for animals and the police. Regardless of what comes of this, I've formed my opinion. I believe his alcoholism is out of control and he's violent. I'm done with him and his show. I don't even listen to the "best of" anymore. I hope Amy can take custoday of their dogs and move on from this horrible situation. Domestic violence is not something to take lightly. Russ definitely needs help. Jagger is my hero and that's the only show I'll be listening to on that station.

Doesn't anyone read the Dallas Morning News??? You should. I don't know Russ well, but I know him. He is basically a good person. The radio program is a radio program...that's all. If the public wants self-centered and arrogant (and they do, ...Howard Stern?), the public has gotten what they want. The ratings proved it. He has done a lot of unselfish things in his personal life, including giving money to people in need (read the article...today's paper). Ok, maybe he finally cracked. I'll grant that he could have asked not to be photographed in a particular shirt but I think that's a stretch. I find it interesting that you and a lot of others are having to shape the evidence to fit the belief that it is NOT a bit. There are so many other things that don't fit either. I've been over them before. I mean it COULD be real, but it's just not looking that way. I know you say you're connected and that everybody is pooping themselves, but if you want to pull off an effective prank you let in as few people as possible and so I would think that it would be limited to the people on the show in the first place. And the people on the show would act just as scared if not more-so. The upside that everyone keeps asking about it publicity. Will people be upset? Sure. Well, I would almost believe it was a bit, but the affidavit has his address on it, and he was pretty cautious to not let people know where he lives. He would get mad if someone said the city, much less the exact address. If it were a bit, they would have blacked out the address just like they did "Amy"s name.

Again people, This is not a bit people. There are several reasons why they may issue you a jump suit in jail prior to your photo. For instance if you were arrested naked or half naked. (wasnt he at a gym) Or if you request to take a shower because your sweaty or dirty. They force you to put on the jump suit after showering. Or if you are wearing something like a station or work logo on your clothing and you dont want to have it in your official mug shot you can request a prison jump suit. etc. I will admit its a little odd to be doing his intake photo with a jump suit but its not impossible and all that uncommon giving the circumstances. I know people that work at the station . I used to work at the station. Everybody I talk to , everybody I know has assured me this is not a bit. For one the Police CANNOT decieve the public like this. The major media outlets would not have broadcast the story had they suspected it was a bit. Thats how you lose credibility with your audience. I am not sure if this is a bit or not, but I do know that when he was arrested for his DWI, he was leaving a costume party. He was wearing a convict jumpsuit at the time. I do believe when you are booked in, you are wearing your normal clothes, and not a jumpsuit.

Personally, I don't make a habit of calling judges and asking if they're involved in a radio bit so I'm sorry I can't take care of that for you. And if you don't think that there would be a civil element to this case (were it real) then you are as stupid as you sound. Everybody uses OJ as the example when it works to show Russ in a bad light so I'll use it now. OJ got off in the criminal and was caught in the civil, right? And now every penny he makes goes to the family of his victims right? As I have stated above, there are several things that point to a possible "hose job" or "bit" but I really doubt same. I suspect that Russ has a drug problem. I have seen various photos and it looks like Russ has really bulked up over the past year or so. Could he be taking roids??? I would suspect that Russ also drinks a lot and may take painkillers and we already know by the "best of" that he is on anti-depressants and such. Maybe he dabbles in cocaine and other street drugs - you put all of those possibilities together coupled with the fact that he lives an opulent "on tap" lifestyle and is worshiped by hordes of white trash minions- a formula to make anyone "snap" if you ask me. Does anyone know about Russ's drugs habits???

As I sit here at my computer, my thoughts linger to today's Russ Martin show content. Will it be yet another lame "Best Of" show? Ahhh, yes...to be sure. The real question is, what will occur Monday? Some will wait in eager anticipation, hoping for vindication that this was all an elaborate hoax. Others will wait with baited breath, waiting to unleash a firestorm of fury. Will the station brass chance putting RM back on the air feeling that the worst has passed? Are they willing to risk the deluge of negative comments that will no doubt be pouring in? Will their screeners have to deal with the nightmare of weeding those callers out? More importantly, will they even be taking calls? I would guess not. Why risk it? Why chance having Russ go off on someone or hang up on someone who doesn't worship at his alter? Maybe the head honchos at headquarters will announce that he had been suspended indefinately (with pay, of course! Gotta pay for that mansion!) The document that has been "provided by the police" looks totally fake. RE: Russ Martin Show ~ Please continue to keep Russ Martin off the air until he is either found guilty or cleared of all charges. With the serious allegations that are pending against him, no one (with any moral values), wants to hear his cocky, arrogant persona on the air, nor do people want to hear someone who is "pretending" to be humble and repentant. You reap what you sow. Hopefully Russ Martin's career as an on-air personality is washed up in Dallas. I wonder...if he was accused of indecency with a child or having sex with an underage girl, would KLLI and CBSRadio still be wringing their hands trying to decide if they should keep him around? The charges against him, (if true), are every bit as serious. Please keep that trash off the air and replace it with some REAL talent.

That fact that Martins lawyer got on a plane to LA means NOTHING. I have clients all over the county and take (roundtrips) day trips to LA and New York City; gone first flight out DFW and return last flight out LAG,LAX,Santa Anna and im back sitting at my deak 8 am the next morning in Las Colinas. This HAS to be a bit. I saw Tim Powers just about an hour ago at DFW. Looked like he was getting on a plane to LA. If this was such a hot case right now with the media all over it.. would he really be leaving town ? I think not.

If he won't go to a counselor/etc., sit down and get him to talk about childhood, things that have always bothered him about family, etc., parent issues, family issues.
