Greg Williams: My Taped Live Interview

Wed Jul 16, 2008 at 07:30:11 AM

For those of you still interested, my 20-minute or so interview with Live 105.3’s Big Dick Hunter about “The Hard Lie” will be available on his website at some point today.

For those of you who can't wait, you can download the file here.

Happy listening.-- Richie Whitt

Thanks for uploading the interview, Richie! Great stuff, man. Props for mentioning us lowly commenters. Big Dick's tale of Greggo's bawling phone apology for lying about the thumb stomach and inadvertently predicting the coke habit was quite the revelation, indeed.

Sideshow Bob

PD says:

thanks for your work, richie. i suspect the snake will not talk to you @ oxnard. but just know you didn't do anything wrong other than cover the facts equally from BOTH sides. it was not your fault he and danny declined to comment. in the end they look bad. i think he and danny would be best suited to claim that rhyner ordered them to be silent.

DENNIS says:

That was good stuff Richie,
I still wonder if I am the only one that thinks it is strange that only Rhyns was the only one at the ticket to speak out. I agree Corby was a gold digger, and I'm not sure others acted in the same manner hoping to get that position. But in Rhyns' own words when the Jose Canseco story broke, "Players should keep things that happen in the locker room" in the locker room. Just remember everybody said Jose Canseco was a liar too. I would like to close this out by saying that I truly feel that the only reason that Rhyns was the only one to speak was so stories would not get crossed up. They have made Greg out to be this insane lying person, and that's not the Greg that I have known for 14 years. Yes he has made mistakes and admitted to them. Greg had lap band surgery and did not want anybody to know. That is his personal business. They made a bit out of everything Greg did, so if he wanted to keep the surgery quiet, thats his choice. It was done on his time off the air, get over it Rhyns. I stated before that money does strange things to people, all the Ticket employees probably have some skeletons in their closets that they would not like to be aired out. That is why they have all stuck together and formed a pact against Greg. If you call him a liar now, its easier to say he is lying later, if these stories were to ever come out. Didn't work out so well for the players against Jose Canseco did it???

Good stuff RW! If you want to listen on a stream, we have it up here:

(no offense meant by the title Richie...just thought it was funny)

Somebody quickly blame Corby for this too...

Tom says:

DENNIS - Seriously? Could you pull your nose from Greggo's crotch for a damn minute?

Your Quote:
"They have made Greg out to be this insane lying person, and that's not the Greg that I have known for 14 years."

SERIOUSLY?????? You knew a persona, not a person. Get a grip, pal. You know of a persona for 14560 hours of your life (That's 4 hours, 5 days a week, for 14 years). That's a fraction of the person who you THINK you know. You don't know dick about Greggo, Mike, Corby, or anyone else on the Ticket. You make yourself believe that they are your friends, but they don't have an effing clue about who you are.

Seriously, I feel more sorry for you and your imaginary world you've built for yourself where Radio Personalities are all Saints.

News Flash: They're Not.

honest bob says:

Tom - how long have you listened to the ticket? obviously not too long, eh? Dennis = nascar dennis, who had a car show on the ticket, who has been the hammer's friend from back then.....the prosecution rests...

chickenpants says:

Tom
Did it take a whole paragraph for you to prove that you don't know shit?
Well, give you credit for not lying about being a P1.

DENNIS says:

Tom, please tell me that you are not allowed to produce any offspring, the world will be a better place in the future. And please quit before you go blind too.

c'mon says:

news flash: Tom is an idiot.

Doyle King says:

They should do one of those "Wanna get away" commercials with what just happened.

HA HA HA HA....NOW THATS FUNNY!

Jay says:

After listening to all sides of this soap opera I still think we are only getting a small sample of what went on and still goes on at the Little Ticket. I'll bet all the Ticket hosts have skeletons that they never want to see the light of day. Full Disclosure is nothing more than a marketing slogan like Jerry Jones saying 'It's all for the fans'.

Overall it’s been a fascinating glimpse into the real inner workings of the station and the relationships between the hosts. I'm waiting for the expose’ of BAD Radio. That's going to be great!

I quit listening about a year ago because the humor became tiresome and predictable. It was like listening to re-runs every day. I didn't even realize Greggo wasn't there until I picked up a copy of the Observer. I think some of the innocence has been removed from the Little Ticket once you realize these ‘every man’ hosts are in a totally different salary band than most people and are really no different from the people they criticize so frequently. There not actually one of us anymore, there just making fun of us.

P.S. – How does Corby really keep a job at the ticket?

What gives?

Mike says:

I bet this Tom guy is Tom Gribble.... Remember when he referred to Dick Hicks as JUB JUB.......lol

get over it for sobbing out loud says:

Read the article and subsequent posts.

Listened to all the audio.

Thank you, Richie, for proving that there is no way to quote your own material without sounding like a bitter ass who wasn't given serious consideration by the Hardline.

Management disappointed you? That's management.

The hosts aren't butt buddies behind the scenes? Where's the revelation there.

But, you are grabbing a lot of publicity for you and the Observer, so well done.

bingo says:

FINALLY!!! The truth is told. This entire story is nothing but the biter ramblings of someone who was denied TWICE after trying to fill Greg's shoes on The Hardline. Guess what? If the lame one actually got hired, none of you people without lives would even have this much info.

bingo says:

oops, did I say biter? He does bite, but i meant bitter.

Eddie says:

Where's Tom?

5 Star Hotel says:

Am I dreaming or does the DFW market truly think Corby is good on the air? He is bad, misinformed, doesnt know jack, but can ramble on like a 12 year old punk.

The evening drive sucks, even though it trumps Galloway who is close to death with a 10 word vocabulary.

Come Mike, you created this thing back in 94, get it right. Winning the D Magazine Best in Dallas over Cheese Fries is a far cry from greatness.

Hopefully Corby will soon be on his way to Norman, to be Bob Stoops personal water boy.
