Dallas Opera will Simulcast Carmen at Klyde Warren Park on Opening Night

She'll be your undoing.
The Dallas Opera has announced that to celebrate next season's opening night it will simulcast the Carmen at Klyde Warren Park. The free First Night screening will have all the perks: footage of attendees walking the Winspear's red carpet in their opulent gala best; a "Toreador Song Sing-a-long"; beer and wine available for purchase; and an opportunity to watch French mezzo-soprano Clémentine Margaine make her American debut.

Hosting a free, opening night screening isn't new territory for the Dallas opera company, but this move to communal green space is. It will be a more comfortable environment for viewers, who at last year's Aida simulcast were huddled-up like culture-loving campers on the Winspear's front porch.

Start planning your picnics now; First Night is October 25. If you've never seen Carmen but enjoy watching man's ruin unfold, you're in for quite a treat.
