Cuba Almost Built A Futuristic Art Community. Learn More Tonight at Unfinished Spaces

There was a corridor of time when Cuba's potential felt unlimited. Revolution brought power, and -- at least for a while -- it seemed like everyone would get a slice. Castro had some big ideas about how to make that happen, but one of his grandest involved a golf course, architecture and a utopian training facility for the fine arts. (Bonus: It looks like the city from Logan's Run.)

In Unfinished Spaces, which screens tonight at the Latino Cultural Center, we see the idea become reality, then watch as that reality crumbles and decays. Scheduled for 6 p.m., Unfinished Spaces will be preceded by a reception and followed by a brief panel discussion, featuring the big brains of architect Rick del Monte, artist Rolando Diaz with moderation provided by Hector Garcia. All panelists are Cuban-born and rooted in the Dallas arts, so you'll get opinions stemming from actual life experience. Get the full scoop here.
