The Five Best Comedy Shows in Dallas This Weekend, December 13-16
Loni Love at the Addison Improv
Named by Variety and Comedy Central as one of their Top 10 Comics to Watch, Love has been seen on VH1, Chelsea Lately and even CNN. This never-shy comedian will teach you how brown liquor talks to you and may even try to start a national movement. Fat people unite! Love will be here Friday through Sunday. Twenty-one and older only.
Tommy Davidson at the Arlington Improv
One of the original stars of In Living Color, Davidson is a never-ending supply of sound samples. Everything from Spanish TV channels to tiny midgets talking comes out of his mouth. Mix that with topic-rich stand-up, and you've got a hilarious take on the world. Come out this weekend and hope he serenades you in Spanish. He'll be here this Thursday through Sunday.
Ben Creed at Hyena's in Fort Worth
This chain-smoking tough guy from New York City will be here this Friday and Saturday. His stand-up got him invited to appear in Comedy's Dirtiest Dozen along with Jim Carrey and Tim Allen, and he'll be in Fort Worth talking about everything from getting a boner from finding a quarter to laughing at a guy with a knife in his head. Don't worry, knife guy was still alive.
The Jerk at Texas Theatre
This holiday classic will be shown in glorious 35mm this Thursday through Sunday. Starring Steve Martin, this 1979 masterpiece follows around Navin (Martin) as he finally breaks out on his own. Fun guaranteed.
A Christmas Story at Angelika Plano
This 1983 Christmas staple has inspired countless kids from the '80s to stick their tongues to icy telephone poles and desperately search Amazon as adults for leg lamps for their dorm rooms. (They're out there, by the way.) Showtimes start this Thursday. Break free of your couch and come see this holiday tradition in surround sound. You can even wear your bunny PJs.
