17 Awesome Things To Do In Dallas This Weekend: September 13 to 16

Red Bull Soap Box Derby Race -- Watch as Dallas' finest groups and businesses, and Ku De Ta (JK. But really K.D.T.: Where's my membership card?) race homemade derby cars and crash into things! It'll be major. Oh, and FREE.

Opening at the MAC -- You can squeeze a little culture into your Saturday, you're not an animal...yet. The McKinney Avenue Contemporary is presenting a new show by photo surrealist painter and local legend, Roger Winter. A former SMU professor of 26 years, Winter molded a lot of minds and shared his passion with many eager students. Five of them will have work in a side-by-side exhibition titled "Under the Influence." This runs from 5:30 to 7:30 and is FREE.

SNAFU at Oliver Francis Gallery -- There are 16 artists (local and national) on the bill for this group show at OFG, including the Mayor's daughter, Michelle Rawlings. Remember her? She presented Photoshopped images of Papa Bear Rawlings in bondage gear last time she was around. Good times. It's FREE and runs from 6 to 10 p.m.

Sunday 9.16
Pride Parade and Festival -- What's that? You can only venture out for brunch after this crazy weekend? Sorry, not happening. This Sunday is the annual Pride Parade and Festival in the gayborhood, so you're going to need to party a little longer. Drape yourself in the rainbow and go support your brothers and sisters over on Cedar Springs. Plus, it's an excuse to dance in the afternoon!

"Roustabout"
Opens at Webb Gallery -- There is no better day trip than a visit to Webb Gallery, the little outsider art gallery in Waxahachie run by local gurus of fabulous eccentricity, Bruce Lee and Julie Webb. They open a new group show on Sunday and there's music! It's FREE and runs from 3 to 7 p.m.
