13 Awesome Things To Do This Weekend in Dallas: August 2 to 5

Sunday's vintage swimwear party at the F.O.E. is going to be a lot like this, but with more making out and better music.

I'm not sure how Dallas is managing it, but the weekends keep out-doing themselves. I'm already popping ibuprofen in preparation for Monday's hangover. Just look at this list! There's two completely unmissable art shows on Saturday, a beer launch from Deep Ellum Brewery on Friday, a poolside screening at the Belmont on Thursday and the summer's biggest F.O.E. party on Sunday. Stock up on Emergen-c, share this list with your party gang and drink lots of water. Also, click the event titles for more information. I'll see you out there. (I'll be the one double-fisting.)

Thursday 8.2
QuakeCon -- Gamers, this is your weekend to shine. Go ahead, just wipe that Cheeto dust right on your pants, there are no judgies at the world's largest LAN party.

Ku De Ta is Having A Dance Party -- So, Ku De Ta is the not-so-secret but still kind-of-a-secret pool behind Three Sheets. It's a gorgeous salt water thing surrounded by cabanas and a hyper-attentive wait staff. You need a membership to go on any other night, but on Thursdays the 'Ta is open to the public for a dance party. If you have zero plans of ever attempting to get a membership, I dare you to cannonball.

Alter Ego Sticky Party -- If you're just going to sit at home tonight wearing lycra pants and an electrical tape push-up bra, why don't you venture out and spend the evening with like-minded folks? Here's your chance. Don't say I never gave ya' nothin'.

Some Like It Hot at the Belmont -- Another adorable retro poolside screening from our friends over at the Belmont. It's part of their dive-in movie series which occurs every other Thursday. So tonight, spend an evening with Marylin Monroe a cocktail and one of the most beautiful city views offered in Dallas. The film is totally free.

Wild in the Streets at Amsterdam Bar -- Sometimes you just want to ease into the weekend, that's when a night spent in Amsterdam's backyard feels like kismet. Tonight, and the first Thursday of each month, there's a record party! Hang out and drink to garage, funk, soul, R&B -- you know, the stuff that gives your life purpose. It runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Friday 8.3
F.I.G. Finale -- If you love/need some great new clothes, but cringe at the thought of paying full price, you've got to go to the F.I.G. Finale. It happens in the Design District at F.I.G.'s museum-grade building, and designers pack the thing full of sample sales, trunk shows and other clearance spectaculars. It's a big to-do and clothes are marked down up to 75 percent off. There's still time to win free passes! It runs through Saturday.

Fashion Fridays at House of Blues -- Those savvy folks over at Dallas Fashion Week know that you get antsy when you don't have your fashion needs fulfilled, so they've started a monthly over at House of Blues called Fashion Fridays. Each installment features a different local designer showing off their work, club-style, as well as finger foods and cocktail specials. This month's designer is Tashumbra, and her looks won me over in this year's runway shake-down, The Pin Show.

Deep Ellum Brewery Launches a New Beer
-- In need of a party and a light summer beer? Swing by Katy Trail Ice House on Friday and meet the newest addition to our beer family, Dallas Blonde. She's gonna sweep you off your feet, so maybe take a cab.

A Dick Clark Tribute by Viva Dallas Burlesque -- The gals have gone and done it again, getting all patriotic by toasting an American legend. Celebrate those Bandstand hits with the ladies you know and adore.

Saturday 8.4
Project Pugway Fashion Show -- Dogs on a catwalk? Oh hell, why not? You'll see lots of pugs, dressed to impress, flaunting their wrinkles for the whole world to see. I'm pretty sure there's a lesson in their somewhere, I'm just not clear on what it is.

You left out going to Maple Avenue Boxing Gym this Friday @ 3.00pm to cheer on Dallas' Errol Spence Jr as he competes in the US Olympics.
