Ari Richter Makes Art from His Skin, and He Would Like to Show it To You (Photos)

Ari Richter, a New York artist who's living at UT Dallas' CentralTrak artist residency, uses skin -- actual, human skin -- for his upcoming exhibition, The Skin I Live In. It's culled from a "limited, daily supply" of skin chewed from the insides of his own cheeks, before being processed with food dye and dried on glass.

Not to be outdone by the extra-corporeal "tattoos," other expendable keratin-based portions of Richter's body (such as his hair and fingernails) have joined in, creating a macabre and comedic collection "speak[ing] to universal traits of anxiety and compulsion," opening at CentralTrak on August 25.

We're looking forward talking this week as Richter installs, but we're so stoked about the delightfully morbid skin art headed our way we wanted to go ahead and drop a few pics. You kind of have to see it to believe it.
