Enough with That Face.
Ever do a search for "movies opening this weekend" only to find that none of the good ones are actually playing in Dallas? We're here to save you from that disappointment.

Killer Joe
It's the story of a Texas drug dealer who hires a hitman to kill his momma, but until that insurance dough comes through he puts his little sister up as collateral. What could go wrong? Here's why it could be good: 1.) It was written by Tracy Letts, author of the wonderfully twisted stage productions Superior Donuts and August: Osage County. 2.) Call me a sadist, but the NC17 rating appeals to me. Yeah! Suck it decency! Here's why it could be terrible: Matthew McConaughey is going to be wearing That Face -- you know the one -- for like, an hour and a half. (Angelika)

Total Recall
Dear Hollywood: Enough. Stop remaking Philip K. Dick stories-turned-movies. I like them trashy, dated and loaded with Schwarzenegger. Also, stay the fuck away from Blade Runner or I'll hire someone to scare your wife. That's not an idle threat: I live in Old East Dallas. It would take less time than updating my voter registration. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days
In addition to being the title of Jim Schutze's upcoming autobiography, DoaWK is a movie adaptation of the popular children's book series. Sure, there are mishaps during "Wimpy Kid" Greg Heffley's summer vacation, but nobody said that his foolproof plan to fake a summer job at a country club would be a flawless one. Somebody's going to learn the value of being themselves. (AmStar 14 - Dallas, Cinemark 17 and IMAX Theatre, AMC Mesquite 30)

Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry
It's a rather humbling documentary about Ai Weiwei, a famous contemporary Chinese artist who helped design the Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium. He's also an dedicated activist and a nearly professional shit-taker, since his government has repeatedly tried to shut him down through threats and violence. Warning: You might learn something. The Arnold made the original work, along with (for that time) a blow-away mega-tech extravaganza.  Twenty-two years later such a show elicits only ho-hums.
