The sign is already up at Cris Worley Fine Arts' new Slocum address.
Somehow Cris Worley Fine Arts' impending move a few streets across the Design District totally slipped under our radar. Formerly in a space next to Galleri Urbane on Monitor Street, Cris Worley will be taking up residence a bit closer to the action, at 1415 Slocum St., #104.

I've always loved the work coming from both Cris Worley and Galleri Urbane and have long wished they were within easy walking distance of the Dragon Street gallery bloc. Yes, it's environmentally and financially irresponsible to make a 1.5 mile drive. It's also 115 degrees, and I'm already precariously teetering on the precipice between looking professional for gallery openings and full-on boob sweat. While Urbane is staying put -- and we'll gladly keep hauling ourselves over, any way we can -- we suspect Worley awaits a bit of an uptick in its new location between Edison and Inspiration, thanks to both the geographic logistics and newly extended hours: Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

We put in a call today, and Worley assures us that the motive behind the migration is totally copacetic. It's simply part of an exciting expansion. The gallery will re-open in its new location on September 8, with a solo show by Howard Sherman.
