13 Awesome Things To Do This Week in Dallas, August 9 to 13

You've bravely battled hot seat belts and steering wheels. Dutifully punched that time clock. Now it's time to break away from the man and get a little satisfaction. You're in luck! Hit up the pop-up happy hour after work on Thursday, then roll over to the F.O.E. for a killer moonlight pool party.

But that ain't all. This weekend's loaded with great stuff: there's a skateboarding/art/music bash, a Quentin Tarantino-themed burlesque show, a pretty major art opening on Saturday and yeah, WWE wrastlin' on Monday. Put a plan together with your party gang and share this list, also click the event titles for more information. I'll see you out there. (I'll be the one getting thrown into the folding table.)

Thursday 8.9
Retro Pool Party Fundraiser for girlShow -- If you haven't experienced the F.O.E. on a weekday evening, this party is the perfect excuse. It's a fundraiser for girlShow, that big annual exhibition featuring all female artists and musicians. Putting it on takes a little seed money, so you get to go to an awesome party. It's got everything: a photo booth, body painted models all dressed up in retro and vintage outfits, a Dj, and sketch artists. Your ten buck donation even gets you three free Deep Eddy Vodka drink tickets. Perfect.

Pop-Up Happy Hour by Downtown Dallas, Inc. -- DD,Inc. announced this week that they'll do these each Thursday for the next month. Follow their Facebook and Twitter to stay on top of which city park or plaza will be taken over that day for the event, which features various craft beers by Andrew's. (Psst, this week's is at Pegasus Plaza. 5 p.m. Dig?)

Friday 8.10
Culture Y'all Number 3 -- Skateboarding? Rad art? Crazy rock 'n' roll from Tokyo? No big deal, you can get it all in one party.
Sweeney Todd at Level Ground Arts -- Spend a night with your favorite demonic barber, just don't ask what's in the meat pies...

Hal Samples Benefit -- This evening of art and music is a fundraiser for Deep Ellum advocate, photographer and Observer contributor Hal Samples. The whole community is rallying together for this one, so pick up some great art in the silent auction and catch music by Yells at Eels, GalleryCat, Psycho Sonics and more. It's a big one, and it's going down at Club Dada.

A Burlesque Tribute to Tarantino at the Boiler Room
-- Kill Bill. Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction. Foot fetishes. It's a night of homage to our favorite part-time Texan, Quentin Tarantino. The production has been in the planning stages for nearly half a year, so expect a showstopper.

Passion 4 Fashion at S4 -- This night of runway is being put on by the cyclists of Lone Star Ride Fighting AIDS, and they've gathered this season's best looks from West Village shops. Mingle with the beautiful, fill your eyeballs with style and enter to win a Trek Alpha Aluminum Series 1 Road Bike -- you need one of those.
