Ticket Giveaway: See Paul Varghese and Other Great North Texas Comics at House of Blues

Categories: Comedy

While every major touring comic pops into Dallas, our local comedy scene is often overlooked. We've got the talent, it's just scattered all over the metroplex. House of Blues is going to make it easy on you and showcase the best comedy acts in the area on Saturday at LOL!

And we've got a pair of tickets to give away.

Getting all of North Texas' finest and cagey-est comics together is difficult, so House of Blues corralled them the old-fashioned way: They built a trap and baited it with cigarettes, gin and '90s hip-hop cassettes. Then, they waited.

Headliner Paul Varghese was the first snared: He's the biggest name in the D/FW area and the reason you were sniffle-laughing before Dave Chappelle even got on stage last month.

Chelsea Hood was the next one caught: She couldn't resist the filterless Pall Malls and half-finished bottle of Seagram's. She'll talk about lady stuff, like dating the homeless and black-out drinking.

Aaron Aryanpur and Dominic Harris were the last two trapped. Aryanpur has an unassuming style; he uses it pen you into his schtick. And Dominic Harris? Well, he was in the running for Funniest Comic in Texas last year.

All four are being contained at House of Blues until Saturday night's show, and we've got a pair of tickets to give away. If you want to try for them, email me Jamie.Laughlin@dallasobserver.com with the subject "I need to laugh". The drawing will shut down at 5 p.m. Thursday. I'll contact the winners by Friday morning. If you miss out, you can buy tickets here.

You do realize you misspelled DALLASOBSERVER.com??

@AviAdelman It's part of the Observer's hot new branding campaign. It utilizes an overworked writing staff with rapidly typing fingertips and blends them together creating a unique... and fun!...typo scavenger hunt. It's called: "Can you find them all?" It's also an artful play on the concept of electronic impermanence. Enjoy!

@Jamie_L. I know you put in a lot of effort writing this wonderful piece of literature.

@Guest I'm so glad you noticed! Jounalisming is, like, way hard and stuff.
