13 Awesome Things To Do in Dallas This Weekend: July 19 to 22

Hey fellow nerds, geeks and dweebs: This is your weekend to shine. Friday, July 20 marks the 43 anniversary of Neil Armstrong planting his kicks on the moon. To celebrate, let's watch this Michael Jackson moonwalking video. It's pretty boss.

There's so much happening this weekend: The Nerdist is doing a live podcast recording, f. is for frank is throwing a jewelry-launch party, there are essayists, yard sales at bars, fashion shows, free films, stoner comics and even day-drinking with dogs. Theoretically your most stoniest friend, your poorest friend and your dog can find something to do here this weekend, so be a pal and share this list with them. I'll see you out there guys; let's all do shots in honor of the moon. "To the moon!"

f. is for frank Fall Jewelry Line Launch Party
So, I fell in lust with this series as soon as I saw the flier. I actually went, banging on the door, with a photographer and we took pictures so that you could see how great this locally crafted jewelry really is. They're finally releasing it tonight with a party at the store and they'll totally have beer there, so go check it out and buy something that makes you feel fancy.

Omer Fast at the DMA

Fast ain't a slow burn. He's a powerhouse of video art and he's been all over the world flexing that skill. He'll have a spot of honor in this year's Dallas Video Fest, but don't wait until September for proper exposure. Join Omer Fast for an artist Q & A on Thursday at the DMA. Your museum admission gets you in.

Dive-In Movie at the Belmont: A Streetcar Named Desire
What's that? You just met a lady and you want to take her somewhere beautiful to do something wildly interesting but you don't have any cash? These poolside screenings at the Belmont are free and offer a tremendous panoramic view of the city.

Friday 7.20
Three Great Writers Lecture at Oil and Cotton
A combination effort between the Writer's Garret and Oil and Cotton, that special Oak Cliff artist nook where you can take classes or pick up gifts and supplies, this evening is going to be special. Each author is an accomplished one and they'll share readings from their work. It's free and it's BYOB.

Late Nights in the Arts District
It's third Friday, which to cheapskates translates to: Lots of free to cheap museum time in the Arts District. Nasher is free, as is Crow and the DMA has discounted entry rates. The Nasher even has a band and a free showing of The Artist. There's tons to do and see, so break free of your Friday couch chrysalis and enter the world a social butterfly.

Sizzlin' Summer Fashion Show
This Red Party event is going to be 12 shades of fly. The organization raises cash to support our neighbors with HIV/AIDS through counseling and other services. Friday night, they'll exchange one great night of fashion for your donation; there will even be clear catwalks laid across the pool at Ilume. Think "Skywalk" but for models.

Here's the deal: Music has its own list, which explains any missing concerts and we love Ruby Revue and Viva Dallas Burlesque but we can't include them every week, just 'cause we have to keep it fresh. We're doing slideshows about a couple of those events, so look for photo coverage come Monday! And ladies of burlesque, keep being awesome. We adore you!
