The 2011 Sample Sale at Dallas Market Hall is in full swing.

Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 a.m. this Saturday, which is only really important to those in the agricultural industry and college kids who know it means the bars are open for an extra hour. The only benefit we see is the extra hour of sleep we'll get, which means we'll be well rested for a trip to the annual Dallas Sample Sale at Dallas Market Hall.

This year's sale features hundreds of vendors selling clothing, home accessories, toys and gifts for all ages, and it's the first year men's clothing is on sale. If you hate long lines at big retailers and dread fighting with packs of wolf-moms on Black Friday, then hit up this once-a-year event for some great presents at deep discounts. The best part is you don't have to spend a dime to get into Market Center because admission and parking are free.

The Dallas Sample Sale began yesterday, but you still have all weekend to take advantage of the pre-Thanksgiving and Christmas shopping. The market's open until 7 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Visit dallasmarketcenter.com for more information. After the jump, see what else is going on this weekend, including British humor, the Komen 3-Day and more.

Lola Van Ella takes to the sky tonight.
Viva Dallas Burlesque presents Beggar's Carnivale
Friday, November 4, at Lakewood Theater

Viva Dallas Burlesque's monthly performances at Lakewood Theater never disappoint, and this month's show, Beggar's Carnivale, is more than a sultry burlesque act. Lola Van Ella, St. Louis' reigning queen of burlesque and one of the top 20 teasers in the world, is in town to perform with her troupe, Bon Bon Burlesque. In addition to twirling her tasseled goods, Lola performs aerial dance work, but she won't be the only one flying through the air tonight. Aerialists August and Indigo will also show their talents with long pieces of silk, and Sammich the Tramp, in her Charlie Chaplin ensemble, will perform. If you think burlesque is just about shaking the goods, check out this vaudeville-inspired act tonight. Doors open at 8, and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20. Visit vivadallasburlesque.com.

Assassination City Roller Derby Calendar Release and End of the World Dance Party
Friday, November 4, at The Bone

If the world does end tonight, don't you want to be drinking a beer and dancing with a bunch of fierce women? The ladies of Assassination City Roller Derby are celebrating the release of their 2012 calendar and hosting the End of the World Dance Party at The Bone. Dress in a post-apocalyptic costume and you might win a prize, but just promise you won't go as Kevin Costner's character in Waterworld because that movie sucked. First prize for best costume gets an autographed poster from the calendar shoot and a pair of tickets to AC Derby's November 19 bout. Yeah Def will provide the tunes, and the AC ladies will be signing calendars before hitting the dance floor. Admission is free, and calendars are $13. The end of the world starts at 8 p.m., so plan accordingly. Visit acderby.com.

No Sex Please, We're British
Friday, November 4, through Sunday, November 6, at Irving Arts Center

Alistair Foot and Anthony Marriott's raucous play from the 1970s debuts tonight at Irving Arts Center, and if you haven't seen No Sex Please, We're British, just make sure you leave the little ones at home or risk having to explain some very adult topics to them later. We hope you'd gather that from the title though. David and Penny Hunter are newlyweds living in a flat above the bank where David works. A shipment from a Swiss porn distributor mistakenly ends up in the couple's possession and leads to some uncomfortable but funny moments as the pair tries to figure out how to dispose of the goods. But the porn, and even a couple of escorts, keep on coming. See the comedy at 8 p.m. tonight, Saturday or Sunday. Performances continue through November 19. Tickets are $19 to $21. Call 972-252-ARTS or visit irvingartscenter.com.

Sensory Friendly Films: Puss in Boots
Saturday, November 5, at AMC Firewheel 18 and three other locations

Select AMC locations host special film screenings for autistic children and their families every month, and this month's film is one for fans of the Shrek series. The theater lights will be on and the sound will be turned down so that kids can enjoy Sensory Friendly Films: Puss in Boots. The film follows Puss on his adventures that led him to meeting Shrek and the gang, and AMC Firewheel 18, along with the AMC Theatres in Mesquite, Stonebriar Centre and the Parks at Arlington, invite autistic kids to see the film or just dance and play in the aisles. The screening starts at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Tickets are $6 for kids, adults and seniors. Visit amctheatres.com/SFF for upcoming Sensory Friendly Film screenings.

Komen 3-Day for the Cure Closing Ceremony
Sunday, November 6, at Fair Park

At 7:30 this morning, while many of us were just getting out of bed or getting ready for work, thousands of people gathered at Collin Creek Mall to begin a 60-mile journey to support breast cancer awareness and research. Participants in Komen 3-Day for a Cure will log a lot of hours on foot in their quest for the finish line, so cheer them on when they finally end their journey at Fair Park. The closing ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot near Gate 8. Bring posters, banners and words of encouragement to 3-Day participants. It takes a lot of heart, and a good pair of sneakers, to walk 60 miles, so show your support for these dedicated folks. Visit the3day.org for more information and a list of cheering stations along the route.
