Index Festival Announces Second Round of Bands
Mark N. Kartarik Dawes are among the bands that have been added to the Index Festival lineup this week
The folks at Index Festival continued their staggered announcement process yesterday for their 2014 lineup, announcing a slew of bands to add to the dozens that they already had revealed back in June. Granted, they were much more low-key this time around; there was no concert, no party, no Corby Davidson to announce the bands.
But that's a minor issue. With bands like Dawes, Mutemath and Dan Deacon getting added to the equation, there's plenty to be excited about by the new additions to the lineup.
This isn't the end of the process, either. Oh, no. The final announcement of bands will take place in a couple of weeks, on August 4, plus organizers tease that they plan to "save a few surprises to be unveiled closer to the event." In the meantime, we have this much to go on: three-day passes will be $89, while three-day VIP passes run $199. Single-day prices won't be announced until August 4, but considering that there will be 90 bands playing, those prices look more than reasonable so far.
And then, of course, there are the bands that we already know about. Future Islands, Local Natives and Kaiser Chiefs led off the first round. With Dawes and Mutemath, there's some added folk and alternative thrown into the mix, while Deacon should bring a killer dance party. There will also be rappers Dilated Peoples and pop-punks the Get Up Kids. Other additions include Russian Circles, the Cool Kids, the Limousines and Caroline Rose.
Index takes place in Deep Ellum across three days, September 26 to 28. Here's the full lineup that's been announced so far. Check back here on the 4th for the next round.
