Future Islands Top First Round of Index Festival Bands

Index Festival, bringing the party to you
What a production. The folks at Index Festival have gone out of their way this year to build up anticipation for the show, now in its third year, which will happen in late September. Case in point was last night's announcement party at Trees, which was sponsored by Chicago brewer Goose Island and featured performances from a half-dozen local bands. And they weren't even announcing the entire lineup.

The take away? Current indie darlings Future Islands will be the headlining act for the Deep Ellum festival.

Future Islands, led by the distinctive presence of front man Samuel Herring, has crested a wave of buzz through the first half of 2014, bolstered by an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman and new album Singles, which includes the uber-popular "Seasons (Waiting on You)." Their spot on the Index bill will mark their first visit to North Texas since they played Three Links in April.

Joining them among the ranks of artists who got announced last night were L.A. harmonizers Local Natives, serial self-destructors Foxygen and Brits Kaiser Chiefs. A.Dd+, who performed last night at Trees, were also announced as one of the bands who will be performing at Index.

Until now, only presale tickets were available, but as of this morning tickets are available to the general public. The price per day is $75 and they're available here. The festival runs from September 26 to 28.
