On Wednesday, the front doors of the Renaissance Dallas Hotel were busy, and guests were offered a complementary glass of champagne upon their entrance.  The Renaissance Dallas Hotel was one of 155 Renaissance hotels in 35 different countries to participate in the hotel's second annual Global Day of Discovery, part of the chain's efforts to highlight arts and entertainment in their respective hotels' cities. So, naturally, they had Atlanta's Cee Lo Green curate the whole thing -- he picked his protege (and Los Angeles native) That Girl V for Dallas.

To be fair most of last night's entertainment was local, even if the headliner was not.

"We wanted to bring all the wonderful local things here in Dallas to our guests," says Erin Dowell, Beverage and Food Supervisor at Renaissance Dallas Hotel. "I have lived in Dallas my entire life, and I really have a passion for everything here. Our hotel is not really walking distance from many of Dallas' great attractions, so we wanted to bring it right here for our guests."

The evening spotlighted local beers from Revolver Brewing, giving samples of caramel and toffee noted dark beer. And later in the night, sips of Siebra Azul Tequila were at hand. Throughout the evening, champagne was served as the crowd of hotel guests and all other welcomed attendees listened some jazzy soul tunes by Cee-Lo Green's protege, That Girl V and her special guest Timothy Bloom.

Following the duo, local musician Goga soundtracked the remaining hours of the evening. He provided an eclectic playlist, singing everything from Andrea Bocelli to Justin Timberlake.

The gathering also included an artwork display from local artist and Renaissance hotel bartender James Chambers. Many guests and event goers headed to the hotel restaurant, Asador, after finishing more than less glasses of champagne and free samples of the hotel restaurant's guacamole, made using local produce and ingredients from the Dallas Famers' Market.
