Summertime goes hand in hand with music festival season, even down here in the 100-plus-degree heat. This area will be hosting festivals in the months of June, July and August, ranging from genres of heavy metal to indie rock. So the next time you're wanting to lose your voice in unbearable heat, there's no need to leave DFW to do so.

KXT Summer Cut: The Happy Funtime Fest
When? Saturday, June 1
Where? Gexa Energy Pavilion
Who? The Avett Brothers, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Matt & Kim and more

Things to know: This festival is in its sophomore year and is put on by local independent radio station KKXT-FM 91.7.

Kerrville Folk Festival
When? Thursday, May 23- Sunday, June 9
Where? Quiet Valley Ranch, Kerrville, TX
Who? More than 100 songwriters including The Stray Birds, Warren Hood Band and more
Cost? $25-$40
Things to know: The annual festival is in its 42nd year and is the longest continuously running festival of its kind in North America

SolJazz Festival
When? Friday, June 7- Sunday, June 16
Where? Various spots around DFW -- check the site for the official calendar.
Who? Smokin' Joe McBride, Cherrelle, Natural Change and more
Cost? $10-$500
Things to know: The festival is offering hotel deals for out of town guests with a $79.99 per night/SolJazz room rate at the Holiay Inn Express & Suites and Marriott Towne Place Suites in Desoto.

Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic
When? Thursday, July 4
Where? Billy Bob's Texas
Who? Willie Nelson and Family, Randy Rogers Band, Gary Allan and many more
Cost? General admission is $35 in advance and $55 the day of
Things to know: Willie's long-running Independence Day celebration is a Texas tradition.

When? Friday, July 12
Where? Gexa Energy Pavilion
Who? Megadeth, Slash, Black Label Society, Device, Hellyeah and Newsted
Cost? tickets start at $9.71
Things to know: BFD is put on by KEGL-FM 97.1 The Eagle, so listen for chances to win tickets on weekdays at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
