The Supreme Court Same Sex Marriage Hearing: Let's Play Some Damn Love Songs

530181_10200093621955869_620668235_n.jpg

The Supreme Court is debating the legality of Prop 8 and possibly also DOMA by extension today. Maybe they will establish the Constitutionality of same-sex couples right here, and it seems like a foregone conclusion that even if they don't, the end of this particular discrimination is nevertheless in sight. The island on which the husband-and-wife-only types stand is shrinking rapidly in both population and influence. Republicans are speaking out in favor of legalizing gay marriage. Holdouts are getting eviscerated in debates. So it is with great pleasure that we present a little soundtrack to your day of watching the progress in Washington.

As usual, please add to our selections in the comments.

"Come To My Window" By Melissa Etheridge:

I don't care what they think

I don't care what they say

What do they know about this

Love anyway?

Um, get off your high horse, I highly doubt the Supreme Court actually cares about the DOMAs.

Oh, the music.  Uh... I pick most anything from Shalamar (if you remember 70s disco), especially, "A Night To Remember".

I'm livid.  NBC's Pete Williams is proclaiming that the Supremes will issue no broad rights ruling on this issue.  NBC announced this "breaking news" earlier this morning before the hearing even began!  BTW, is Williams clair-voyant or something?

I'm not sure about that Charlie Robinson one, you might as well play "turn out the lights" by Steel Panther.

@Kiernan_Maletsky @rachael.elward   :D  Can you find "I do" by Bobby Patterson? He supported the Relatives the other night at The Kessler. "I Do" is a cute song about wanting to get married. I wanted to hold Gavin's hand and be all smushy through it but he was in the bathroom at the time. Curse my husbands tiny bladder! It's not easy to find it on the internet, I think it was just on a best of album.

@Kiernan_Maletsky @rachael.elward well, my grove is certainly well worn as a result of our union.

Sorry, that was just awful. I think I have a form of tourettes. That song would be lovely. Soul is good lovin' music.

yes, it's track 14 on disk 2 of the album "Soul Is My Music: Best of Bobby Patterson". Not exactly a big hit for him I suppose.
